ConsHowever, it tends to pill easily, so you need to be careful with the amount you apply. It also makes me wonder if it's really necessary to use...

Mac gives you a big shopping bag! The packaging is beautiful, brightening up my vanity. It's the 2020 Excellence Award winner. Makes me feel like a woman who really knows her makeup.
ConsI don't understand why I'm using this or why I should. What's the point? Is it supposed to make makeup last longer? Ugh... Who said it pairs well with Double Wear? It pills up like eraser shavings within a minute of application and stays that way. The two just don't mix. Dewy finish? Ha! I'd rather mix Double Wear with BB cream. It turns into a paste on areas with dead skin cells, making you look like a pink flaky mess. It's impossible to fix, so I had to wash my face again. Buy this if you want pink flakes. Maybe it just doesn't suit me, but it doesn't adhere to the skin and seems to push away all other products on my face. To be honest, even the tone correction is mediocre. It's just a vague pink, watered-down tone correction? I'd say even drugstore tone correctors have a clearer purpose. Seems like Mac only excels at lipstick colors. I also bought a lip primer because the sales associate was persuasive, but now I don't even know where it is.
TipI foolishly craved that dewy skin look, but ended up with a pink eraser powder makeup disaster. For reference, I use Double Wear in Porcelain. I bought this because mixing with BB cream made it too dark, but I've decided to just live with being a bit darker. Oh well!

As soon as you apply it, it creates such a beautiful skin finish that you look gorgeous even without foundation.
ConsPersonally, I found quite a few disappointing aspects with this product. Firstly, the ingredients list leaves something to be desired. There's a high content of ingredients that could potentially clog pores and cause blemishes if not used correctly. Also, for those with dry skin, if you don't apply your skincare meticulously, it can pill on the surface quickly. Those who use cushion foundations might experience pilling.

ConsAfter all the praise from beauty YouTubers, I decided to buy the full-size product. If only I had known it wouldn't suit me, I would have tried a sample first. My makeup tends to pill when I apply it thickly (I use Ink Foundation 201), and no matter how thinly I apply the Strobe Cream, it mixes with my foundation and becomes a mess. Some say it's as hydrating as a moisturizer, but I don't find that to be the case at all. When I watch YouTubers use it, their skin looks dewy and radiant, but when I apply it, it seems to dull my foundation color and make my complexion look lackluster. I wonder if it's my application technique? My sister, who bought it with me, says it makes her makeup pill too, so she's just left it unused.
TipIt's a shame to throw it away, so for those casual outings when I don't feel like doing a full face of makeup, I apply the MAC Strobe Cream over my sunscreen.

It creates a subtle, pinkish luminosity that softly diffuses across the skin. It's perfect when mixed with a foundation that suits your skin.
ConsIt can be a bit picky with foundations, unfortunately. If you use a foundation that doesn't pair well with it, you might experience significant pilling. Finding the right combination can be quite challenging.

ConsIf you fail to control the amount and apply too much, it can cause the foundation to pill
TipUse just a small amount on your forehead, nose, and cheeks

Texture: The way it glides on so smoothly is absolutely divine!
ConsIt tends to pill slightly when used with a primer, and when used alone, it doesn't provide enough pore coverage. So you have to choose between the two, unfortunately.
TipWhen using MAC Strobe Cream, it seems the effects are maximized by applying a thin layer of foundation on top!

Just be careful not to apply too much, or your makeup might pill. With the right amount, it creates a perfect base for makeup and works wonders.
ConsThe scent is a bit off-putting, unfortunately. Also, if you have textured skin, it might accentuate those areas if you're not careful. The absorption is quite slow, so you need to be cautious when applying foundation to avoid pilling. It's a bit tricky to work with, sadly.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsFor my combination dehydrated skin that usually looks cakey with just base makeup, applying this before foundation prevents that flaky look. Unlike other illuminating primers with excessive shimmer, this gives a natural glow. I wouldn't even bother with makeup without it.
ConsIt's on the pricier side. So I'm planning to try a similar Sephora product. I might come back to this after comparing, or switch to Sephora? It's half the price. While MAC Strobe Cream prevents base makeup from looking cakey, it tends to slide off and significantly reduces longevity. In other words, it lacks adherence, causing makeup to wear off easily. I'll update my review after comparing with other products. *Second review (a few months later) - Comparison with other products MAC Strobe Cream really is the best. There's a reason it's so well-regarded. The other brand's product pills like dead skin cells. Strobe Cream would be perfect if it didn't cause small blemishes after use. *Third review (after 3+ years of use) - Repurchase decision and usage Among brightening moisturizers, this was my top choice. However, it causes small blemishes, so it's not ideal for daily use. I only use it when I really want that glow. As a result, I'm not even sure where I've put it now. If you want a natural skin glow, it's better to focus on your skin health rather than relying on products. Still, for special occasions, this is the best brightening moisturizer.
TipThe key is controlling the amount, as applying too much reduces adherence. Some say using a damp beauty sponge prevents pilling, but I haven't tried that yet. While it's true that the reduced adherence makes the makeup wear off more easily, I like that it doesn't pill like other products.

When I apply it, my makeup looks radiant, which I'm really happy about.
ConsIt pills when used with sunscreen. Because of this, I end up using only one or the other.
