The texture, true to its name, is slightly more concentrated than a water toner, but it's not sticky or heavy. There's a noticeable scent - a bit sweet and comforting, which I personally found pleasant. As it's called a 'First Essence', I tried using it as the very first step in my skincare routine, skipping toner. I applied it two ways: directly with my hands and using the included bamboo pads. The pad method was particularly effective. The pads are incredibly thin, and the essence absorbs well, so it didn't feel wasteful. There was no irritation when applied. It was especially great before makeup - a quick 5-minute mask in the morning helped my makeup apply smoothly and last longer. After using this product, my skin felt deeply hydrated without feeling greasy. It created a perfect canvas for sunscreen and makeup, allowing everything to adhere smoothly to my skin. While using it as a mask was my favorite method, even a quick application by hand was beneficial. Unlike some essences that leave skin feeling tight or just wet, this one provided ample hydration without evaporating quickly, despite its lightweight texture. The suggested 'mirroring' technique involves using this product as the first and last step of your routine, but I found it sufficiently hydrating on its own. For me, using this essence followed by eye cream was enough, only adding a light moisturizer on particularly dry days. While I can't claim dramatic improvements in elasticity or pore size from short-term use, I was satisfied with the plumping effect, improvement in deep dryness, and a subtle brightening of my complexion. It seems suitable for oily skin types looking to simplify their routine, and for dry skin as a first hydrating step. While the volume is generous for a first essence, it's not a budget product and can be quite pricey without a discount.
