I felt my pores tightened a bit, and compared to other brands' retinol products, it wasn't as harsh on my skin. I think I'll stick with this product for my retinol needs! I initially thought the size was quite small, but since I only use it once a week and a little goes a long way, it actually lasts quite a while.
ConsIt's quite rich, so if you don't control the amount well, it can feel heavy on the skin. If you get greedy and apply too much, it might cause dead skin cells to surface.
TipI recommend using this product with the mindset of consistent, long-term care, applying only a small amount! It's best to let your face go through an adjustment period and then adjust the frequency of use accordingly.

So, I approached this product with both anticipation and concern. My skin is combination type, with some dead skin cells on my cheeks. When I use only lightweight products, my skin tends to produce excess oil. Usually, I apply toner, followed by a clear essence, and then cream. I'm not a fan of gel-type creams. Fragrance & Texture: I'm not sure how others perceive it, but high-oil content products without added fragrance often have a characteristic oil scent. This one wasn't overpowering though. If you use scented products before and after, you probably won't even notice it. The texture is very fluid and runny, not thick or heavy at all. Application & Hydration: I used this in place of my essence after toner, and it was easy to handle. The feel was lighter than expected. When I followed up with cream before bed, my skin felt comfortable until the next morning. Interestingly, I usually wake up with enlarged pores, but this seemed less noticeable when using this product. I'm not sure if it's due to the product or the cooler weather, but my skin condition was definitely better on days I used it. Irritation: Despite the high retinol content, which can cause redness or tingling, I didn't experience any irritation from the first use. I've used it for several consecutive days now and still haven't felt any adverse reactions.
ConsThe dropper doesn't draw up the product very well. It's not a big issue since you don't need to use a lot, but it's a bit frustrating to watch.
TipAvoid using in the morning, and always remember to apply sunscreen.

I was initially concerned that since I have combination skin, an oil might be too rich. But that wasn't the case at all! I apply 2-3 drops and gently massage it in. It definitely helps other skincare products absorb better afterward. There's no pilling when I apply other products, and it doesn't feel heavy as it absorbs. As this is my first facial oil, I was worried it might be too greasy, but fortunately, that wasn't an issue. That's why I love it even more!
ConsThe downside is that being an oil, it can feel a bit heavy. That's why I only use it in the evening, but I wish it had a lighter, fresher feel.
TipIt's meant to be applied during the serum step. I find it absorbs even better when mixed with a serum or paired with a lighter formula!

Retinol 0.5 The retinol concentration seems quite high, which I consider a plus! However, as a first-time retinol user, I was extremely cautious. So I started using it bit by bit. While I can't really tell the effects yet, I haven't experienced any additional blemishes! 2. Scent The fragrance is unique. It might be a love-it-or-hate-it situation, but I found it okay. 3. Packaging I loved how luxurious and pretty the packaging looks, especially considering the price point. What's particularly great is that when you're done with the product and it's time to dispose of it (which can be quite tricky with cosmetics), there are detailed instructions on how to recycle it properly.
Cons1. Inconvenience As a retinol beginner, I found it a bit cumbersome to use! It needs refrigeration, can only be used at night (no light exposure), and the application isn't daily but rather on-and-off, which I found challenging. 2. Heaviness As someone with combination skin, I generally avoid oil-based products as they feel heavy on my skin. This one also felt a bit heavy for my liking.

However, I decided to try this one since it contains retinol. Surprisingly, my concerns about excess oil and shine were unfounded. Being new to retinol, I experienced some initial tingling, but it quickly subsided. It feels like it creates a barrier to prevent moisture loss, making it excellent for hydration. It's perfect for nighttime care, especially as the weather gets cooler. The packaging is also beautiful. Though small, the 3-month open-jar period makes the size more practical than a larger container.
ConsThere's a slight heaviness typical of oils, so I adjust the amount I use. As expected with retinol, there's some initial tingling, but overall it's gentle and beneficial for the skin.
TipFor perfect winter hydration, try deeply moisturizing your skin before massaging in this oil!

I've used various IOPE retinol products before, from their original formula to 0.1% and 0.3% concentrations, as well as some recent retinol essences. High-concentration retinol can be intense and needs to be used carefully, but I believe the results are definitely worth it, so I keep buying and using it. As I'm in my late 30s, I have more fine lines than deep wrinkles. Rather than wrinkle improvement, I've experienced reduced pores and smoother skin, which made me quite excited for this product. One good thing is the oil formulation. Unlike spot serums, it's easy to apply, and you can mix it with your cream, which I liked. (Though as someone with oily/combination dehydrated skin, this was also a downside...) I started using it three times a week and gradually increased to every other day, so it was difficult to see all the effects during the testing period. However, it seems there's no major issue with adapting to it, so I plan to update my review later about its effectiveness. This could be a good choice for those who experience a lot of dryness or want to feel the retinol effects all over their skin. Just make sure to follow the adaptation period guide and don't forget to apply sunscreen!
ConsAs I have oily to combination dehydrated skin, I found it a bit too rich for my liking. Even when I mixed it with a watery moisturizer, the oil content felt strong. My face felt constantly heavy. On the flip side, this might be an advantage for those with dry skin. Especially since it's still close to summer weather, it felt more suffocating, but I'm planning to keep it in the fridge and use it consistently in fall and winter. ## Update after 3 weeks When I used it right before my period when my skin tends to be more sensitive, the next day my skin became a bit red and had a tingling sensation. I might have used more than usual... I thought this would be helpful to note, so I've updated my review.
TipFollow the guide carefully! I've been using retinol products for a long time, so I didn't have much trouble adapting, but if you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend following the guide. Also, the oil isn't very thin, so it might cause some irritation when applying. I found it better to mix it with other moisturizers. I especially recommend avoiding use during sensitive periods of your menstrual cycle. For me, not only with retinol but with most products, my skin becomes sensitive around my period, so I avoid using it then.

In fall and winter, my skin isn't light, but I layer products for hydration. That's why I thought this product might be what I needed and wanted to test it. - Texture As mentioned, I expected it to be heavy. But when I actually used it, it was lighter than anticipated. However, I can't say it absorbs perfectly and leaves a fresh finish. It does leave a slight residue, but it's not overwhelming and provides good hydration. It might be great for those struggling with very dry skin. Note: The instructions say to use 2-3 drops, and you really should stick to that. - Effects I made a mistake here... I had plenty of time to test, but after exfoliating and using a nose pack, I applied about 5 drops instead of 2-3. I even applied extra on my cheeks... My skin reacted badly. I got blemishes and my skin became rough, especially on my cheeks where I applied more. I stopped using it after that, hoping it would clear up so I could test again...😂 Because of this, it's hard for me to say definitively how good this product is... - Scent As you can see in the photo, it's slightly green. It has a subtle grassy scent. Since you only use a small amount, it's not overpowering, but those with sensitivities might want to read other reviews carefully. - Formulation It has a fluid consistency. If the oil itself was heavy, it would have felt really suffocating, but thanks to this, it doesn't feel too heavy.
Cons- Personally, I tend to think 'if it's good, use a lot'. But having to use only 2-3 drops felt a bit frustrating at first. As I mentioned, when I used more, it was already about 4 days into testing... I thought my skin would be used to it by then, but that was my mistake. I wondered if using such a small amount would really have any effect. While it does provide hydration, which is a plus for dry skin, I was personally hoping for improvements in skin texture. So, I didn't see any visible differences or effects, but I can definitely pass on this warning: ** Really, don't use it right after exfoliating, and don't use too much. 2-3 drops is truly enough. **
TipI used it when applying ampoules as suggested, and I loved how hydrating it was. For dry areas, if you use a small amount followed by an emulsion, your skin feels really comfortable.

I didn't experience any blemishes or breakouts. ● Following the instructions, I applied a few drops to my hands after evening cleansing and then used it on my face. I've been using it for a few days, but it might be too soon to notice significant effects. It seems like I'll need to use it consistently for at least a month to really tell. ● Being an oil, it definitely prevents dryness the next day.
Cons● The scent might be polarizing. Personally, I'm not a fan. ● Given that it's an oil, it might be challenging for those with oily skin to use! ● Use only a small amount, and if you don't let it absorb well, your skin might feel a bit suffocated.
TipIt's great to keep it in the refrigerator and use it cold!

My face is a classic combination dehydrated skin type, so oily that I need to carry oil blotting sheets even in winter. Plus, I have super sensitive skin with constant allergic dermatitis. Concerns I had after winning the retinol oil: • Would excessive oil cause blemishes? • Would the retinol ingredient irritate and upset my skin? The conclusion: None of these worries materialized! I got to try this at the worst possible time for my skin - my allergies were acting up with some dermatitis, and consecutive nights of overtime left my skin looking dehydrated. Though I was concerned about my dermatitis, I was more bothered by my dry, rough skin texture. So before bed, I applied two drops of oil to my hands, gently pressing it into my skin, then went to sleep. The next morning, I was greeted by softer skin. The hydration power is definitely on point, as expected from an oil! The product comes with instructions mentioning an adjustment period, so I was worried my dermatitis might worsen due to irritation. But it didn't - I'm very satisfied with this!
Cons• However, being an oil, it does feel a bit heavy for (combination) oily skin. There's a slightly itchy feeling from the oil layer, and a shiny face. • In terms of retinol's firming effects, I don't think you can expect dramatic results. I'm not sure how it differs from other moisturizing oils. Though this aspect might be hard to notice during the trial period, I'll update if I see any changes!
TipThe product comes with instructions. Please read and follow the usage guidelines for both the adjustment period and after. The lower part of my face is extremely dry, so unintentionally, the photo review represents dry skin. If you have dry skin, please refer to the image review.
