Although the formula is lightweight, it provides good hydration, and even layering it two or three times absorbs quickly, which is convenient. * Soothing effect I don't store it in a cool place, but it gives a refreshing sensation when applied. It's great for calming irritated skin after cleansing. * Fragrance The scent is stronger compared to other brands. It's intense but not artificial - a herbal scent that lifts my mood every time I apply it. I'm satisfied with the luxurious feel of the color, fragrance, texture, and packaging.
ConsIf I had to point out a downside, it would be that the price is quite high for the amount you get. It's a bit expensive to use as a regular part of my routine.

It preps the skin perfectly for the next essence step, allowing better absorption. I'm really satisfied with this exfoliating toner.
ConsThe price is a bit on the higher side. While the glass bottle is heavy, it's great for product preservation, so I can't complain.
TipDon't use it wastefully. I apply it with Silcot cotton pads for efficient application.

It's aqueous, yet not quite water-like, if that makes sense? Perhaps that's why, unlike other toners, it seems to lock in hydration better. When my skin feels dry and tight, I soak a cotton pad generously and use it as a mask - it quickly restores moisture. I've used it almost daily for two weeks, including as a mask, and there's still plenty left. The bottle is quite generous in size. As someone with very oily skin, I usually stick to lightweight formulas in summer, but the fact that Yeonchak can be used year-round is a big win for oily skin types! Of course, the gentle ingredients and superior moisturizing power compared to other toners I've used are also great benefits.
ConsThere's nothing particularly disappointing about it. The scent is only noticeable during application and dissipates quickly, which is fine. As someone with extremely oily skin who usually feels greasy and suffocated after applying products, I think if I had used this in the height of summer, this toner alone with a light hydrating gel would have been sufficient. Even my mom, who has dry skin, found the toner itself quite moisturizing and gentle (though she still uses emulsions, creams, and oils due to her very dry skin). It seems to be suitable for all skin types in just the right way.

Even a slight imbalance can cause breakouts, but this calming toner works well for my sensitive skin. It also controls oil, making it easy to apply the next skincare steps. After cleansing, it maintains moisture. Especially since it's a product that's clinically proven for instant soothing, it has a cooling effect that feels refreshing and hydrating. Even after applying moisturizer a few minutes later, my skin doesn't feel dry, which is great. Containing PHA, it gives a sense of refining the skin. It's perfect for exfoliation during seasonal changes, especially with the current extreme temperature fluctuations. I'm using it at just the right time. I thought the amount might be small for the price, but it's actually more than expected. Using it morning and evening after cleansing, I think it'll last about 3 months in my case.
ConsThe scent might be divisive. As soon as I smelled it, it reminded me of ink grinding... It's similar to an ink or wood scent. I personally like it, but others might not. The price is admittedly quite high.
TipWhile I mentioned it's perfect for seasonal transitions, I think it would be great to use all year round. In spring and fall, it helps with dead skin cells, in summer it controls oil, and in winter it helps with dryness. It's a versatile toner for all seasons.

It's truly like water - no viscosity, just pure liquid. You need to quickly pat it on after dispensing to avoid spills. As for absorption, its water-like consistency allows it to sink in exceptionally well. ✏ Hydration & Effectiveness Honestly, I didn't expect much hydration from a water-based toner. But after about two layers, it feels incredibly moisturizing. It makes your skin feel plump and bouncy. Usually, I apply cream after toner, but this was sufficient on its own. The PHA ingredient seems to work wonders for dead skin cells. Not sure if it's due to the PHA, but it forms a white foam-like substance when rubbed. Using a cotton pad might be more effective for exfoliation, but I found that even applying with hands improved my skin texture, making it slightly smoother. ✏ Quantity I thought 150ml would be quite small, but I was surprised by how large and plentiful it is. After two weeks of diligent use, it's barely decreased in volume.
Cons🌿 Scent The herbal scent might be polarizing. Personally, I liked it as it gave me the impression of being healthier for my skin. 💰 Price The price is quite steep, making it highly recommended as a gift but perhaps too burdensome for daily use. While it's good, it feels too ordinary to justify the 40,000 won price tag...? If I were rich, I'd definitely buy it though.
TipAfter morning cleansing, absorbing it twice with your hands leaves your skin hydrated even without an emulsion. It seems to refine skin texture, giving a slightly smoother feel.

It's versatile and great for all-around use. After cleansing, it's perfect for smoothing skin texture when applied with a cotton pad. I also found that placing toner-soaked pads on dry areas leaves the skin beautifully hydrated.
ConsWhile I don't mind the herbal scent, I was a bit concerned about the deep color potentially staining my skin.
TipAfter removing blackheads, if you place a toner-soaked pad on your reddened nose, it quickly calms and hydrates the skin.

The user experience was delightful - the formula is as light as water, absorbing well without any stickiness while providing excellent hydration. It felt sufficiently moisturizing without overwhelming my skin, making it a great match for my dry complexion. Since it's not sticky and absorbs quickly, I could layer it 2-3 times even on busy mornings, allowing me to seamlessly move on to the next steps in my skincare routine.
ConsAs others have mentioned, the scent might be a matter of personal preference. It has an earthy aroma reminiscent of root plants, which can feel natural and healthy, but on some days it might be a bit overwhelming. However, I did think that the natural fragrance likely indicated healthy ingredients...
TipThe instructions mentioned that it could be applied with a cotton pad or patted in with hands, so I first used it as an exfoliating toner, then patted it in 2-3 times with my hands. This left my skin feeling deeply hydrated and plump with moisture!

It has a scent reminiscent of plant roots, which might be divisive, but I personally love that healthy aroma. While it flows like water, it's not just a purely hydrating formula. It contains Sophora Root Extract, which feels like it helps lock in the moisture. As a result, it's deeply hydrating, adheres well to the skin, and leaves a soft, matte finish. I think it would suit dry, oily, and combination dehydrated skin types. As a Hwahae Tester, I approached this review without any preconceptions. Later, when I read about the ingredients, I learned it contains PHA for gentle exfoliation. Thinking back, I realized my dead skin cells had noticeably decreased since switching to this toner, especially during seasonal changes. As a trusted Yeonjak product, it offers excellent soothing properties and overall performance.
ConsFor those who often experience facial flushing, the product claims to provide immediate cooling effects. If you're expecting a dramatic cooling sensation, you might be disappointed. I used it without knowing about this claim and didn't really notice any cooling effect, unfortunately.
TipI've been trying various Yeonjak products because I like their fragrances, firm textures, and soothing effects. The Calming & Comforting line is particularly good overall. I used this toner along with the ampoule, and found it even more soothing than when used alone. The earthy scent became more pronounced, and my skin felt healthier. I highly recommend using it in combination with the ampoule.

Texture: ★★★★ It's not too light or too rich. Some toners focus too much on exfoliation and feel watery, but the Calming Toner had a perfect balance. It definitely helped with deep dryness. It absorbs well with a hydrating feel, without pilling. The closest similar texture is 'Primera Organience Water'. It's about 20% lighter than Organience, but the rest of the feel is similar. The most noticeable effect was how soothing it felt on the skin, though I didn't experience any dramatic changes. But I don't expect major changes from a toner, so I'm satisfied with this level of performance. Scent: ★★★ It has a subtle herbal scent that's not too strong. As you use it, you might even start to like it! Packaging & Design: ★★★★★ I loved how eco-friendly the packaging was, from the box to the container. They used recyclable paper instead of bubble wrap and even the tape was environmentally friendly, which made me feel good about my purchase. The design is also fantastic. It's not overly trendy, just clean and simple. While many brands are going for a more emotional design these days, Yeonchak seems to have focused on simplicity.
ConsThe herbal scent was a bit bothersome at first, but I got used to it over time! There wasn't really anything I disliked about it.
TipI recommend applying it like an essence for absorption, rather than using it as an exfoliating toner. Even after one use, you can feel it helping with deep dryness.

The moment I applied it, it seemed to smooth out my skin texture, leaving it hydrated and soft!
ConsPerhaps due to the herbal ingredients, the scent is quite strong. Also, I'm not sure if these ingredients don't agree with me, but the next day I started to see some minor blemishes appear. I have sensitive combination dehydrated skin and my skin is really super sensitive, so if you're prone to reactions like this, make sure to patch test before purchasing!
