I really enjoyed using Le Labo's Hinoki shampoo for its amazing scent, but I wanted to try something new. The fresh basil fragrance is nice, but it's not as distinctive as the Hinoki. Rather than smelling like a niche perfume brand's shampoo, it's more like a pleasantly scented option you'd find at Olive Young. On the plus side, the Basil version lathers much better than the Hinoki! While I had no issues with the Hinoki version, this one gave me scalp blemishes. After using it exclusively for a few months, my scalp became unbearably itchy, making it unsuitable for daily use. Those with oily scalps or seborrheic dermatitis should take note. I have both conditions, and whether it's due to insufficient cleansing effectiveness or issues with the surfactants, this product just doesn't work for my scalp. If you love woody scents, especially Hinoki, and don't mind a bit less lather, stick with the Hinoki version rather than the Basil. - ww****Combination SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRecommendedFeb 2, 2024
I keep buying and using this product. I first encountered it as a hotel amenity and found it really nice. My scalp gets itchy the next day. It's better when I occasionally use it together with a scalp care shampoo. My scalp tends to get itchy the following day. It works even better when I occasionally pair it with a scalp care shampoo. - jo*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedDec 5, 2022
The price is quite high, but it gives you that feeling of improved hair texture when using it. Rather than a distinct basil scent, it has a gentle herbal aroma wafting through. It lathers up nicely too. I experienced no irritation on my scalp. The price is too steep for me to purchase with my own money. However, I received it as a gift and thoroughly enjoyed using it. Since I have an oily scalp, I shampoo twice.
