I applied it directly to my skin right after washing my face, and it didn't feel greasy at all. It's not a completely watery formula, but has a slight viscosity, so I only needed to apply it twice for my skin to feel moisturized and dewy without drying out. I've been purchasing and using this product since around 2017. It's gentle and does a great job of providing moisture, so I really like it.
