I loved that I could cover my gray hair with just a simple shampoo, without needing to dye it. When I actually used it, it took a long time and couldn't keep up with the rate my gray hair was growing. I still ended up having to dye my hair anyway. - ic*****Normal SkinSensitive SkinMar 4, 2025
I used this product for about 3 months in the first half of 2024. Purchased from Olive Young. The coloring effect is minimal. I tried various application methods, but could hardly notice any difference. - te***********Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesWrinkles/ElasticityRednessDead Skin CellsDec 5, 2024
As someone in their 20s, I've been worried about my increasing gray hairs lately. After seeing an ad for Modamoda Black Shampoo on social media, I decided to give it a try. The cap design is really interesting! It seems like it would be convenient for travel if you're not taking a large amount. The formula is thin, making it easy to use, and it lathers well, so you can use it as naturally as regular shampoo. The feel is very similar to ordinary shampoo, so I could use it without any hesitation. Overall, it's not bad. However... I used up the entire bottle in less than two months, and honestly, I barely noticed the coloring effect I was hoping for. It's disappointing that there wasn't much change in my gray hairs. - lo*****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 6, 2024
It lathers up nicely, so you can expect good results It might take a while to see the effects, so you'll need to use it frequently - hh*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessJun 9, 2024
It lathers up well and has decent cleansing effectiveness. It didn't leave any residue on the bathtub, sink, or under my nails. While it had a herbal scent during use, the fragrance didn't linger after rinsing. However, it wasn't very effective for coloring, and towards the end, the pump became difficult to use. - th************Combination SkinMay 21, 2024
The foam is softer and richer compared to the first generation. Also, there's no metallic scent. While the first generation showed noticeable effects after a month of use, this product doesn't darken the hair at all. I'm on my second bottle, hoping for results, but still no darkening whatsoever. The company claims it turns hair to a lighter gray instead of black, but from a user's perspective, there's absolutely zero change in color. Why did they discontinue the first generation? I wish they'd bring it back! - fr******Dry SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityDead Skin CellsApr 15, 2024
It's a gel-type that lathers up nicely. I've been using it for about a month, and it's been good for my hair color. Has anyone actually had success with this for coloring? I don't feel refreshed after washing my hair, and I think there was some controversy about carcinogenic ingredients before. I bought two bottles, but now I'm considering throwing them away. - ji*******Combination SkinMar 10, 2024
1. Can be used on hair that needs coloring without causing additional irritation, 2. The original Modamoda first generation made hair stiff, but this has been greatly improved 3. Safer now that the problematic substance (1,2,4-THB) from the first generation has been removed 1. After using for 3 months, existing gray hairs are not coloring well. 2. Noticed that newly growing gray hairs appear slightly yellow, however, the coloring effect is barely noticeable compared to the first generation Modamoda.. - 5t******Combination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 9, 2024
The consistency is thin but lathers well and feels rich. Unlike regular shampoos or treatments that tend to run into your eyes, the Zero Grey Black Shampoo's foam is so dense it hardly drips at all. Surprisingly, my hair felt soft after use. I was worried about the bathroom getting stained since it's supposed to color grey hair, but that didn't happen. Right after using it, I noticed my white hair strands had a slight yellowish tint with about 2% transparent sheen. I thought it hadn't worked at all. However, 3 days after the first use, I noticed that newly grown hair (about 3cm) near the top center of my head had turned brownish, making the grey less noticeable. But the existing grey hair (about 10-15cm long) on the crown and back of my head showed no change. The shampoo works well on thin, newly grown grey hairs even with short-term use. However, it doesn't seem to work well on older, thicker grey hairs. If it does work, it might take quite a while. I'm skeptical about whether it will actually work on thick, long-standing grey hairs, as I haven't seen any signs of change so far. This might work for people whose grey hairs grow in short, but grey hair tends to grow quite fast. It takes at least 7 uses over about 14 days to see any coloring effect, so I'm unsure if it can keep up with the growth rate. I'll keep using what's left because I don't want to waste it. As someone who usually uses Dentrol oily scalp shampoo with peppermint, I notice a slight tightening or itchy feeling in my scalp after using this Modamoda shampoo. - kk*****Normal SkinRecommendedDec 2, 2023
The application method is the same as regular shampoo, but you need to leave it on for 2-6 minutes depending on your hair length. Despite being a black shampoo, it doesn't stain your hands or bathroom when used. It's great that it doesn't damage your hair either. It's disappointing that the color options are limited and that you need to leave it on for a while.
