Why? Because this little gem is something special... I'll give you a concise rundown of its strengths, proving my devotion with a grimy puff from actual use and a stash of refills. Oh, and the most crucial part - the shade! This shade is a light ivory with very little yellow undertone! If you use shade 21 but hate excessive yellowness, this is for you! 1. Skin Finish This is mind-blowing. The Givenchy cushion is the epitome of 'semi-matte'. No other description needed. It's just perfectly semi-matte. Not too much, not too little. It finishes with just the right amount of powder-like softness. Does that mean it dries out your skin? Not at all. It's 'semi', remember? There's zero dryness. In fact, your skin feels incredibly comfortable after application. It's the true definition of semi-matte done right. When applied, it gives a flawless, velvety finish. Truly perfection! 2. Longevity The staying power is incredible. How can it last so long without being drying? I have no idea how they've done it, but there's absolutely no darkening. I've never experienced darkening while using this. And fading? To be honest, I'm not sure. It does come off when eating, wiping your mouth, or blowing your nose. But this stuff really lasts. It's the top performer among all the cushions I've used. 3. Adherence It's phenomenal... When you apply it, it instantly melds with your skin. You barely need to pat it in before it becomes one with your complexion. Instead of buying other cushions and constantly patting, I'd rather spend that money on Givenchy. Honestly, I've tried expensive cushions before, but this is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. I wouldn't recommend it for very dry skin types, as it is semi-matte after all! But if you're used to semi-matte finishes and are looking for the three advantages mentioned above? I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Cons1. The Cushion Puff Can you believe the built-in puff is heart-shaped? Shape aside, why is it so thin? It soaks up all the foundation. I can't fathom why they'd create such an amazing product and pair it with this subpar applicator. I switched mine out pretty quickly. 2. The Formula You might be wondering why I'm mentioning the formula as a con after all that praise, but hear me out. While everything else is perfect, it can be tricky to pick up the product. Even after changing the puff, it seems like the formula settles at the bottom or is just difficult to get out of the cushion. You really have to press hard sometimes to get enough product. It's often hard to tell if you've used it all up or not. And this isn't exactly cheap! 3. Nose Clogging Calling all those with large pores on their nose... Despite using that famous primer that starts with 'Bona', this semi-matte formula tends to settle into the pores around my nose. Just a heads up... Despite these three drawbacks, the advantages are so incredible that I still give it 5 stars. If you're a foundation nomad willing to invest in a department store brand, I strongly recommend Givenchy!
