No characteristic vitamin/glutathione scent or rich feeling, making it ideal for oily skin types Nothing particularly negative. The only slight drawback is Paula's Choice brand's typically limited accessibility - ki***********Oily SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJan 11, 2025
It absorbs well into the skin and seems to improve skin texture. The only downside is the high price, otherwise there's nothing to complain about. - ju********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 5, 2025
I've chosen to use a 23% oil-soluble Vitamin C serum because highly concentrated pure Vitamin C can be irritating and has many restrictions on what you can use with it, like retinol or chemical exfoliants. The advantage is that there's no irritation or burning sensation when applying. Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, being a lipid-soluble precursor to L-Ascorbic acid, can reportedly penetrate cell membranes in a stable form and convert to Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) by enzymes in the skin. Its silky emulsion texture absorbs well, making it suitable for oily and combination dehydrated skin types. The addition of glutathione boosts its antioxidant properties, making it perfect for consistent use when pure Vitamin C isn't an option. I'm thrilled with how quickly it brightened my complexion. The price is quite steep, so I'm unsure about repurchasing. I think it would be even better for managing hyperpigmentation and dark spots if it included ingredients like alpha-bisabolol or arbutin. Research suggests that Vitamin C derivatives like Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) can be more effective than chemical peels. Cosmetic ingredients are evolving to improve Vitamin C's stability and absorption. Its powerful antioxidant action inhibits the oxidation of tyrosine (an initial substance in melanin production) into melanin. It also reduces eumelanin (the dark brown oxidized form of melanin) to pheomelanin (a lighter reddish-yellow form), contributing to its skin-brightening effects. - ma********Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedDec 31, 2024
I've been using Paula's Choice products for a long time, and it's always been my go-to brand for functional skincare when I have skin concerns! I tried this product because it's an antioxidant serum containing vitamin C and glutathione, which I thought might help with blemishes and dull complexion. As I've entered my late 30s and 40s, I've noticed that my skin's ability to regenerate seems to be declining, and blemishes don't fade as easily. I was a bit worried about irritation, but I've used high-concentration vitamin C products before. However, after experiencing skin sensitivity and even a burn, I now prefer to use safer products, even if they take longer to show results. After using it every evening for about 9 days, I haven't seen changes in blemishes yet, but my overall complexion has noticeably brightened! The best part is waking up in the morning with skin that looks radiant and healthy, as if I've had a great night's sleep. It's a very light cream that applies smoothly, absorbs well into the skin, and leaves a healthy glow! It feels completely comfortable on my skin with no irritation at all! The product has a scent that's said to be from the glutathione, but it's not bothersome. It's kind of like a pharmacy ointment smell, but you can just think of it as applying medicine! This is a product I want to use consistently for healthy, clear skin! I know from experience that Paula's Choice products deliver results with regular use. I think the only downside is the price. It would be great if it could be a bit lower. - dr******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJul 22, 2024
This antioxidant serum instantly gives your skin a radiant glow when applied. It contains glutathione, which provides a subtle shimmer effect. If you're looking for a skincare product that gives you a natural, glowing complexion, this is perfect. The texture is slightly firm, like yogurt, but it finishes incredibly soft and velvety. As someone who dislikes stickiness, I really loved the finish. It also absorbs well into the skin. My skin texture has noticeably improved, and my overall skin condition has gotten much better. It seems to have enhanced my skin's recovery ability, as blemishes heal faster now. Despite its high concentration of Vitamin C and derivatives, it doesn't cause irritation. While areas with a compromised skin barrier felt slightly tingly for a short time, there was no significant irritation or breakouts. The high price is probably the biggest drawback. With only 30ml, it's on the smaller side, which makes it costly for regular use. I'll likely use it occasionally for intensive care. If you're expecting significant whitening or spot treatment effects, you might be disappointed. I didn't notice any particular improvements in these areas. To increase Vitamin C absorption, apply it as the first step after cleansing. Wait 30 minutes before applying other skincare products. If you're going to be exposed to sunlight after application, be sure to use sunscreen to prevent oxidation of the vitamin.
