  Pros

  I've been using this for two weeks! First off, it's a product that really drinks up toner, so I was able to use it for a nice hydrating effect. I used it more as a 'doctor' (spot treatment) than a 'pack' (all-over mask) because there wasn't quite enough for a full mask. What I absolutely loved was that it doesn't have any particular scent! I'm sensitive to fragrances, so this is important to me, and I was pleased that there were no unpleasant odors. It also leaves my skin feeling moisturized, which helps my makeup apply smoothly. Recently, with the weather being what it is, my skin has been so dry that my makeup was flaking and pilling like crazy. But because this product provides so much hydration, it creates a nice, firm base that prevents my makeup from sliding around - it just adheres beautifully. I highly recommend this for those with dry skin! Even if you don't have particularly dry skin, I'd recommend it to anyone who thinks, 'My skin feels dry, and I'm worried about my makeup not sitting well.' I'm sure you'll be satisfied using it!

  Cons

  I was so satisfied using this that I didn't really have any complaints. If I had to pick one thing, it might be that the pads are a bit small, and in contrast, the container is quite large, which makes storage a little inconvenient. Also, because the pads are thick, it might be a bit challenging to tear them apart for use.

  Tip

  This has become my favorite pre-makeup routine lately! I use the Hwahae pads as a spot treatment, then layer my usual toner about 3 times, followed by whatever serum I'm using. This creates an incredibly firm, hydrated base for your skin. To lock in the moisture, apply a hydrating cream or moisturizer, then sunscreen, and finish with cushion foundation or liquid foundation. Your makeup will adhere beautifully and have great staying power (don't forget to set with powder!). Even as time passes, it doesn't flake and maintains well. If you have dry skin, you absolutely must try this method!

  Skin condition before use: Some blemishes, enlarged pores, sensitive due to allergic reaction Scent: Fragrance-free, which is great as it doesn't irritate even when placed on the cheeks! Texture: Full of hydration + high adhesion. The pad side absorbs moisture well, while the embossed side is soft, perfect for exfoliating toner application Comparison with similar products: Gentler than other exfoliating pads, and being from the Houttuynia Cordata line, it's great for both exfoliation and soothing! The pad tweezers can be attached to the lid, with a more stable structure than other brands, making it easy to insert and remove Effectiveness: While dead skin cell removal isn't visibly noticeable, it does a great job soothing skin that's become dry from winter heating

  Drawbacks: None (Even though Houttuynia Cordata doesn't usually suit my skin, this product provided hydration and soothing without causing any blemishes!)

  Try storing it in the refrigerator to help minimize enlarged pores after showering! It's great to leave it on your forehead or cheeks for about 5 minutes, then follow with an exfoliating toner and let it absorb

  Pros

  This is more hydrating than the serum I usually use, and less sticky than a sheet mask! I love that the pads are slightly thick, so they don't dry out quickly. There's a fresh scent that's not at all unpleasant. I've been using it for over a week now, and not only have I not experienced any blemishes, but my skin seems to have improved! My skin texture has definitely become smoother. I use it before makeup, and it doesn't cause any pilling. Instead, it creates a nice, firm base for makeup, so I've been using it regularly! To be honest, I haven't felt much effect from other pad products, but this one has definitely improved my skin texture, so I really want to recommend it.

  For those with super sensitive skin, the pads might feel a bit rough.

  It's perfect to use the embossed side to refine skin texture, then stick the smooth side on your face while you dry your hair.

  I love that it doesn't have a strong scent. People with sensitive noses will probably appreciate this too. It contains PHA, which gives a feeling of exfoliating dead skin cells. When I use this to gently wipe my face before applying makeup, it really absorbs well! I also like that the toner comes in a very generous amount.

  Cons

  Maybe because I usually prefer thinner toner pads, I found these a bit on the thicker side. Due to their slight thickness, they don't seem to adhere to the skin as well as I'd like.

I used to think I didn't get along with houttuynia cordata after a bad experience with another brand's toner, but when I became one of The Hwahae Testers, I decided to give it a try. When I opened the product, there was no typical houttuynia scent or any artificial fragrance, so I felt comfortable using it. The result? Not a single blemish or skin reaction! In fact, I used to struggle with milia and cystic acne along my jawline, trying various medications. This product seems to have significantly reduced my acne without any irritation. If you're dealing with milia or jawline acne, give this a shot. It's gentle enough for daily use, even more so than some dermatological treatments. While severe acne might still require a dermatologist's care, this could be great for managing milder, persistent breakouts. I'll definitely repurchase it for its exfoliating benefits when I run out.

  The essence inside can be a bit dry when you first open it. Flipping the container upside down helps distribute the product better.

  I loved that there was no irritation and the pad had an embossed side and a smooth side. It contained plenty of toner, keeping my skin hydrated, and came with tweezers for hygienic use.   I have combination dehydrated skin prone to blemishes, and I'm currently taking isotretinoin. The initial feel was great - not too sticky, and I used it as directed: applying to my cheeks for about 5 minutes after cleansing, then wiping along the skin's texture. It absorbs well and quickly, and I appreciated the lack of artificial fragrance. The convenience of these toner pads is a plus - just wipe and toss! I also liked the hygienic packaging with a separate spatula included. I only used it for 4 days, so my feedback is limited. My skin started reacting slightly on day 2, and by day 4, with no improvement, I had to stop using it.
