There was no white cast or eye irritation, and overall it felt comfortable to use.
ConsIt's way too greasy... I understand that serums aren't meant to have a matte finish, but this one is so oily that even powder won't stick to it.

Collagen in sunscreen?! I was intrigued and decided to give it a try! The Deep Collagen Sun Serum from Round Lab has a good reason for being called a serum rather than a sunscreen. It truly applies as smoothly as a serum. The texture is even thinner than a moisturizer, falling somewhere between a serum and a hydrating cream. Right after application, it feels incredibly moisturizing and comfortable on the skin. What sets it apart from a typical hydrating serum is that over time, you can feel both the hydration and a slight richness. I've been using it with satisfaction in the cooler early spring weather as it keeps my skin moisturized without feeling dry. I think those with dry skin could use this year-round, combination skin types might prefer it in cooler, drier seasons, and oily skin types might find it suitable for winter use. The application is smooth and hydrating, just like a moisturizing serum, and it feels wonderfully refreshing upon contact with the skin. Among similar sun products I've tried, this has the smoothest and lightest texture! Unlike mineral sunscreens that require careful amount control to avoid a white cast, this product allows you to apply the recommended amount generously without worrying about your face turning ghostly white. It layers well without feeling heavy, making reapplication a breeze! For a chemical sunscreen, I think the ingredients are quite decent. While not every ingredient is super gentle, overall it's not bad at all. Given that sun protection products need to be applied generously all over the face, the scent is crucial. To me, this product seemed unscented, which made it comfortable to apply liberally without any olfactory discomfort. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, with a harmonious blend of white and soft pink. The twist-off cap is a beautiful transparent color reminiscent of camellia, true to its name. It maintains Round Lab's signature design feel while adding a unique touch. However, it does seem to target female consumers... I wonder if men might find it a bit too feminine? The formula allows for a lovely inner glow effect. Its hydrating properties and slight richness create a dewy, healthy-looking complexion. It gives your skin a radiant glow from within. However, if you're after a bare-faced look, you might miss the lack of tone-up effect. But if you're searching for a gentle sun product that plays well under makeup, you'll likely be satisfied! The long, narrow dispenser makes it easy to control the amount of product. Sun serums can be tricky to dispense due to their runny texture, but the narrow opening allows for precise application despite its fluid consistency. As for the collagen firming effect mentioned in the product description, I think I'll need to use it longer to see results. The cooling effect might also become more noticeable as the weather gets warmer.
ConsThe value for money isn't great. Currently, it's priced at 19,900 won for 50ml on Hwahae Shopping. Since it's a sun serum, you tend to use it more liberally than a regular sunscreen, which makes the price point a bit disappointing. While it doesn't feel very oily at first, I noticed the richness increasing over time. This made it feel a bit heavy and greasy later on, which was disappointing. Those with oily skin might find this especially challenging. It's a minor point, but the container isn't very stable when standing up. The narrow cap makes it a bit wobbly when you try to set it upright.
TipBe careful when applying, as the texture is so fluid it can easily drip or splash if you're not cautious.

My U-zone tends to be dry while my T-zone is oily. Smooth Application: This product glides on incredibly smoothly. It applies even more effortlessly than my usual moisturizer. I highly recommend it to those who dislike the stiffness of mineral sunscreens! Quick Absorption and Hydration: It absorbs rapidly after application, leaving a comfortable finish. Unlike some sunscreens that can feel heavy or suffocating, this one applies easily and settles nicely. It's also extremely hydrating. When my skincare routine alone wasn't quite enough, this sunscreen added that extra boost of moisture, making my skin feel at ease. It could be a holy grail for dry skin types! However, it does have some richness, which might feel a bit sticky and oily over time, so those with oily skin might not be as satisfied. No White Cast and Makeup-Friendly: Despite its light pink color, it doesn't leave a white cast or cause tone-up effects. This might be a matter of preference for some. It creates a great base for foundation or makeup, preventing cakiness and enhancing the skin's appearance. If you prefer a dewy look over a matte finish, you'll likely be very pleased with this product! Recommended for Body Use: Given its smooth application, it could work well as a body sunscreen too. The lack of white cast makes it easy to apply like a regular cream. Decent Ingredients: This is a chemical sunscreen. While it contains some moderate-risk ingredients typical of chemical UV filters, it only has one high-risk ingredient, which is relatively good for a sunscreen. Non-Irritating and Fragrance-Free: This product is unscented. There's no artificial fragrance, nor any strong scent from the ingredients. I couldn't detect any smell during application, and even when I sniffed closely for this review, I only noticed a very faint ingredient scent - barely noticeable even for someone sensitive to fragrances like me.
ConsOiliness and Stickiness: While this product is hydrating, it does feel a bit oily. This oiliness can make it feel greasy and sticky. It works well for me in the current dry season, making my skin look good, but it might feel greasier as the weather gets warmer. Those with oily skin might find the richness particularly uncomfortable. Slight Eye Irritation Over Time: To test for irritation, I deliberately applied the product near my eyes. Initially, there was no stinging or irritation. However, after several hours, I felt a slight tingling in my eyes, possibly due to the product's oiliness. While it's not as severe as some products that immediately cause eye discomfort, it's not entirely non-irritating either. Higher Price Point: At 19,900 won for 50ml, it's not exactly budget-friendly.
TipThis product creates a great base for makeup, allowing it to apply smoothly and with a dewy finish! However, those with oily skin should be cautious as it might make your skin feel too rich.

It absorbs quickly and I'm thrilled to have found a product that's perfect for use before makeup. It really helps the makeup adhere well. With just two or three rolls, it clings to the skin without sitting on top.
ConsSince I have oily skin, I thought it might be a bit too rich for summer use. It might be more suitable for those with dry skin.
TipGreat for skin prep before applying makeup.

I feel dry even in summer with mineral sunscreens, and chemical sunscreens cause skin irritation and eye stinging, so I use a hybrid sunscreen as a compromise. The texture is truly watery - it's so runny it drips while applying. It feels more like applying an essence than an emulsion, but the application experience is pleasant. It spreads evenly without any pilling, just like applying a basic skincare product, and there's no white cast. The best part is there's no eye stinging. This is its biggest advantage. With chemical sunscreens, even when avoiding the eye area, some would inevitably get on my eyelashes and irritate my eyes. This doesn't have that issue, which is fantastic. Sometimes even with chemical sunscreens, after half a day my skin would feel slightly dry or the product would pill, but this doesn't do that. The overall experience doesn't even feel like using a sun protection product, which I'm very satisfied with.
Cons✗ It feels sticky after application. People with long hair can tie it back, but I have short hair with bangs, so my hair kept sticking to my face, which was uncomfortable. Also, my face felt itchy at times. At first, I thought it was because of my hair touching my face, but it happened even when I tied my hair back. So it seems to be caused by the product. I'll keep using it for now, but if the irritation continues, I might have to use it on my body instead. It really makes my skin oily. Not just in the T-zone, but even in the U-zone. So it's okay for light use in winter, but I don't think I could use it in summer.

There's only a very faint scent typical of sun protection products, nothing overly noticeable. I love that it's not sticky after application. It leaves my skin feeling firm and supple. Even when I apply makeup over it, there's no pilling.
ConsFor combination dehydrated to oily skin, oil comes through quickly if you don't finish with powder. On my skin, there's a slight unpleasant burning sensation right after application (though it doesn't cause blemishes).

I've been using the Round Lab Birch Juice Sunscreen, so I'll compare the two products. Texture difference: The Birch Juice Sunscreen I've been using has a cream-like texture with a rich feel, while this Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Sun Serum is noticeably lighter and more fluid. It feels more hydrating and serum-like when applied, so I think it's better to apply a thin, even layer rather than a thick amount at once. Compatibility with makeup: While the Birch Juice Sunscreen is known for playing well with makeup, after its reformulation, I noticed some pilling around the nose and pores when applying cushion foundation. This sun serum, however, definitely pills less with foundation. The serum texture makes it easier to apply evenly and thinly, adhering better to the skin, which seems to improve its compatibility with makeup. Feel on the skin: Though the Birch Juice Sunscreen is hydrating, this Camellia Sun Serum applies with a bouncy, serum-like texture. It gives a glowy finish when applied, which is great for dry or combination dehydrated skin in transitional seasons and winter, keeping the skin moisturized and not dry. It's perfect for light everyday wear, and I highly recommend it for those with dry skin who find other sunscreens drying or flaky. (I have sensitive, dry skin that can't tolerate thick mineral sunscreens at all)
Cons1. This sunscreen leaves a slightly sticky feeling on the skin, like a bouncy serum. When used alone, it might feel a bit greasy, and it doesn't pair well with powder when applying cushion foundation due to the lingering tackiness. Even when gently applying powder with a brush, it tends to clump and cake up, so I recommend minimal powder application after makeup (if needed, just enough to reduce shine). It seems more suitable for light outings rather than full makeup looks. 2. It claims to have a skin surface cooling effect, but honestly, I can't really tell. While it might measure lower in temperature, I don't notice any significant cooling sensation. 3. As for pore improvement and anti-aging care, I haven't seen any visible results yet. It might take consistent, long-term use to notice any effects.
TipGreat for dry/combination dehydrated skin during seasonal changes! Works best with light cushion foundation for makeup.

It spread effortlessly, and I especially loved how hydrating it was - my skin didn't feel dry even with the heater on. I usually use mineral sunscreens which require double cleansing, but with this sun serum, a single cleanse is enough, which I'm extremely satisfied with.
ConsIt's on the richer side, so I'd recommend it more for winter or dry autumn weather rather than summer. I didn't experience any blemishes after applying it.

Great hydration This sunscreen is rich in both moisture and oils. It's an excellent base for makeup, especially for those with extremely dry skin! 2. Ingredients According to the Hwahae app, this sunscreen has a very good ingredient profile. 4. Packaging The pointed tip makes it very convenient to control the amount of product. 5. Texture True to its name, it has a serum-like consistency that's very fluid and absorbs well.
Cons1. Stickiness Due to its rich formula, it leaves a sticky feeling for a long time after application. You may need to set it with powder to reduce the stickiness. 2. Oiliness The high oil content might feel a bit heavy if you don't have extremely dry skin. 3. Blemishes In my case, I sometimes get itching or small bumps from organic UV filters, and I experienced this with this sunscreen... :(
TipI recommend applying this sunscreen over oil-free skincare products!

True to its name as a sun serum, it absorbs beautifully. It layers perfectly under foundation or cushion without any pilling or sliding, which I absolutely love. I was initially worried that the pink color might give a reddish tone, but those concerns were completely unfounded!
ConsThere's nothing particularly bad, but it does feel slightly rich. I'm not sure how it will perform in summer.
