It did help with hydration. I guess I wanted to feel that way. I should have smelled it in-store before buying... The scent is... like all the nuts in the world gathered and left to rot for 100 years. It's so unbearable that I had to throw it away after using it only three times. What a waste of money... - iy****Dry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJul 5, 2022
The pure shea butter definitely provides great hydration. You need to scoop out a bit and gently melt it before applying. It's quite rich, so I only use it in winter. I'm on my second jar now. The first one worked wonders, but for some reason, the second caused blemishes, so I had to stop using it on my face. I still use it on rough areas like my heels and elbows though. Due to the nature of shea butter, you have to melt it before use, which can be a bit inconvenient. - ar*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJan 7, 2022
My husband has psoriasis, and our 4-year-old has nummular eczema, so we've always stocked up on Now Foods shea butter. This time, we decided to try this product for the first time. First off, it absorbs much better than our previous product, making it more comfortable and pleasant to use. It melts and spreads smoothly. Plus, it comes with a spatula, which is great for hygienic application. It has a natural scent that might be hit or miss for some people. Also, it seems a bit pricier compared to the product we used before. - cw*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 12, 2021
The ingredients are really great. I love that I can use it safely. It's a bit thick, probably because it's 100% shea butter. I think it works well when mixed with a little oil. It's not too thick that way. - gr*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedOct 28, 2020
The volume is beast-like, and it's effective even in the early stages of inflammation when applied to the lips. Hydration is a given, of course. I haven't seen anything this effective for lip moisturization. I'm also satisfied that it doesn't contain any concerning ingredients. While it works well, the price is on the steep side. Also, due to its organic nature, it's difficult to use for a long time. It was quite troublesome when it completely melted while I was carrying it around in summer. At first, I carried the big jar, but it's better to use a small sample container or a flat tin to portion it out for use. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 13, 2019
During seasonal changes and winter, my lips and cheeks sometimes get flaky no matter what I apply. I stumbled upon this product while searching for a super-hydrating solution, and it's become my holy grail item! I have combination dehydrated skin, but I didn't experience any clogged pores or blemishes. Previously, I managed with toners and serums known for combating deep dryness, along with Real Barrier Extreme Cream. However, I always worried about flaking when applying makeup. After using this, those concerns vanished. I don't use it daily, but when my skin feels like it's about to crack, this calms it right down. 📍Ingredients Unlike the common West African shea butter, this uses East African shea butter - a different variety. It's cold-pressed, extra virgin grade, and a single ingredient product. Plus, it's Ecocert-certified organic! You can find other brands through overseas shopping, but that's a hassle... 📍Scent and Color Some reviews mention disliking the scent, but as someone who enjoys unrefined oils, I find the unique smell reassuring. It's not overpoweringly strong. The color is more yellow compared to the whitish refined shea butter. 📍Application Like typical shea butter, it's solid at room temperature. However, it's creamier and softer. Using a spatula, it melts easily with body heat, making application much easier. It takes a bit to absorb, but once it does, it's not sticky - just pleasantly soft and moisturizing. 📍Price They occasionally have buy-one-get-one-free deals. Compared to The Body Shop or L'Occitane products full of preservatives and fragrances, this organic option with superior ingredients doesn't seem overpriced at all. While it's organic and unrefined with active ingredients, it may not suit everyone's skin. Keep that in mind. It's not widely available offline, but you can test/purchase it at places like Chicor or Pangyo Hyundai. It works wonders as a lip balm and calms down flaky areas like elbows, ankles, and heels. Applying a thin layer after a sheet mask and sleeping with it on significantly improves skin condition the next day. Be cautious not to over-apply, as it might cause blemishes due to over-nourishment. I keep small portions in various places for easy access and frequent application. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedSep 4, 2019
The staying power is truly exceptional. When I apply it before bed and touch my face in the morning, it still feels incredibly smooth. If you have oily skin, you might find it a bit greasy. Also, there's a distinct scent characteristic of shea butter. It's great to apply after cleansing before bed, or mix it with your regular skincare products when going out. - el*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 13, 2019
While at the department store, I made an impulse buy after seeing '100% organic shea butter' on the label and feeling its moisturizing texture. It's reasonably priced with a generous amount. True to its name, it's 100% pure shea butter! I recommend mixing it with emulsions, creams, or oils for application. There's a noticeable scent - it's like that slightly rancid smell of old nuts. If you're sensitive to smells, make sure to test it first. Products like this aren't really necessary in the height of summer. During warmer months, keep it well-sealed in a cool place. Come autumn, you can take it out again, scrape off the top layer, and it'll be like new. (The shelf life after opening is 12 months.) - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedApr 30, 2019
I'm really satisfied and using it well. It's a miracle worker when I apply it before bed on dry, chapped lips! The solid form makes it a bit tricky to apply. You need to gently rub it to melt it onto your lips. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedApr 5, 2019
I initially bought this without high expectations, just hoping it wouldn't cause any blemishes since it's 100% natural. But after trying it, I'm absolutely thrilled! I've already recommended and gifted several jars to people around me. My skin tends to break out easily if a product is too rich, but this one didn't cause any issues even when I layered it over my moisturizer. It also feels less heavy on the skin. The biggest drawback is the lack of offline stores nearby. When they had a location at Pangyo Hyundai, they used to offer gift wrapping services too. I bought several small cream containers from Daiso and divided the product into them. One fits perfectly in my bag, another in my pocket, one in the car, and one on my vanity. I've placed them everywhere so I can use it as a hand cream, lip balm, or apply it to any dry areas whenever needed.
