For nearly 5 years, I couldn't find a suitable skincare product. My super sensitive skin was stuck in an endless cycle of acne, dryness with dead skin cells, or redness whenever I applied anything. Changing products only helped temporarily - after a week, my skin would always get itchy or become a mess. Going without moisturizer was often best. I switched to this from Skin&Lab, which gave me too many tiny bumps. This product has such clean ingredients that there's nothing to irritate the skin. If this doesn't work for someone, finding a suitable cosmetic might be really tough. I hope it doesn't get discontinued. I bought it with low expectations, half-doubting, but it's amazing. I'm so glad to have found a truly simple skincare product that wasn't made just for commercial purposes. The packaging is disappointing. Is it due to production costs? It would be great if it came in a tube. As a pastry chef, I often drop things, and it feels unhygienic to dip back into this. Scooping with hands isn't great either. Everything can get contaminated with bacteria, so a tube would be much better. Apart from that, the product itself is good. Some say it's drying, but for my combination-oily skin that gets super dry but then oily later in the day, it works well. Cosmetics should support, not be relied on entirely, but these days moisturizing products seem to go overboard - they're too rich and over-hydrating. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessRecommendedJan 25, 2024
I've been using this for years. No complaints, but I'm just a bit bored and thinking of switching. I'm writing this review 10 minutes after opening Hwahae... It's the quintessential hydrating cream, so combination dehydrated skin might feel dry in fall and winter. When that happens, I mix it with a rich vitamin E oil and apply. The fact that you need to apply it with a spatula. I always end up getting lazy and scooping it with my fingers. While the jar format allows you to use every last bit, I wish it came in a tube instead. It never pills, so you can layer it multiple times. The official website is truly awful - no matter how many times I try to register, I can't log in (on iPhone). Just buy two jars for free shipping... - qk*****Normal SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinInner DrynessRednessRecommendedJan 13, 2024
Updated on 1/23... I had to pause using it alone as my skin became increasingly dry. I've gone back to my original Holika Res:on for now. While struggling with seborrheic dermatitis and rosacea, I've tried almost all the top-ranked products for sensitive skin on Hwahae. From popular social media finds to even hospital MD products, I've used dozens of moisturizers and spent hundreds of thousands on failed products until I found this one. When everything else caused itching, tingling, and burning sensations, this was the only moisturizer that didn't irritate my skin. I'm so grateful for it. It's an incredibly thankful cream that brought significant improvement to my skin when nothing else seemed to work. For those battling skin conditions, those who feel like nothing on the market suits their skin, please give this a try. No downsides to mention. While some find it drying, I didn't experience that. Just apply multiple thin layers if needed. For those with dry skin, try mixing it with an oil that works for you. Please never discontinue this product! No discontinuation or reformulation allowed! - hy********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 1, 2023
I've been using this for about two months since September 22nd. The scent is clean and the hydration feels comfortable and refreshing. It pairs perfectly with any skincare routine. The ingredients are simple, but the benefits are definite. It has a 12-month shelf life after opening. The pH is 6.4-7.0, and it comes in an 80ml size. The product description and packaging are adorably well-done! You can really feel that it's a product made with care!! The absorbs well! It's excellent as a moisturizer and leaves the skin feeling hydrated. I recommend it as a lightweight moisturizer. The manufacturer is Cosmax, and the responsible seller is Krave Beauty, known for their sustainability efforts. I appreciate that the company itself strives for environmental consciousness. The container is recyclable. I can't really think of any downsides. One inconvenience is that because it's in a jar, you need to use a spoon to scoop it out. A tube format would be better. - yo*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedOct 1, 2022
No excess oil production I started using this during summer when my skin was producing excessive oil and my pores were constantly getting clogged. Since my skin was already oily enough, I was looking for a cream that could provide just hydration, which led me to purchase this. It's a very lightweight moisturizer that doesn't feel greasy at all. During the hot summer, it provides just the right amount of hydration without making my skin oily, helping me maintain a matte complexion. It's become my holy grail product, like a ray of hope for my skin. Simple ingredients Determined to eradicate those pesky closed comedones, I researched online for pore-clogging and acne-triggering ingredients. I then searched for a moisturizer on the Hwahae app that didn't contain any high-risk ingredients, and this one popped up. While using it, I didn't experience any new inflamed acne or an increase in closed comedones. No fancy features It simply provides hydration, and that's it. While it didn't improve my blackheads, it didn't make them worse either. The fact that it focuses solely on its role as a moisturizer meant it didn't interfere with my skin, causing acne or worsening closed comedones. By the time I'd used half the jar, I noticed a significant reduction in the closed comedones on my forehead. If you're looking for anti-aging or brightening effects, you might find this product lacking. But for me, whose primary concern is acne care and balancing oil and moisture, this is a huge plus. Hydration I was satisfied using this from June to September, but as the weather started to cool down, I experienced severe dehydration. No matter how much I applied, my face felt dry to the point where I couldn't even feel any moisture. Adding a hyaluronic acid serum helped, but lately, even my toner can't combat the extreme dryness. Even if you have very oily skin, you probably won't be able to use this in winter. My mom, who has dry skin, said it wasn't effective even in summer. Price Because the texture is so light, you need to use a fair amount each time, which means it runs out quickly. It's not sold anywhere except the official website, and it doesn't seem to go on sale regularly. When you add shipping costs, it's not exactly cheap. However, I'm just grateful it hasn't been discontinued. Inconvenient packaging While it's great that the jar is easy to recycle and the product container itself is made of recyclable materials, it's inevitably inconvenient. Even though it comes with a spatula, opening and closing it frequently can feel unhygienic. I think it would be much better if it came in a tube. Highly recommended as a summer moisturizer for oily skin! Also recommended as a light moisturizer to use after applying heavy essences. - yu**********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessRecommendedApr 12, 2022
If you're looking for a lightweight moisturizer, I highly recommend this one! It's perfect for summer use. The cream absorbs well into the skin quickly. It might not be sufficient as a standalone product during winter or seasonal changes. For better hydration, apply this moisturizer after your essence or ampoule to help with absorption. This product works well even when layered 2-3 times. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 30, 2022
The minimalist ingredient list in this product really sets it apart. Unlike other products (like creams with pore-clogging ingredients), you can actually see the difference in pore refinement and tightening the next morning. It's so gentle that I even use it as a soothing treatment on irritated skin, applying a thin layer. It's not a miracle worker for deep hydration, though. Don't expect this product to give you that dewy, glowing look. Here's a pro tip: try using it as a mask by applying a thin layer and topping it with a hydrating sheet mask. It really helps improve the overall texture of your skin. - ju*****Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 5, 2022
It's a gentle product. As someone with oily skin, I find it slightly heavy in winter, but it seems suitable for use throughout all seasons. I think the limited availability is a drawback. Also, those expecting specific results might be disappointed as this product doesn't offer any notable brightening effects. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedFeb 22, 2022
I started using this during pregnancy due to its good ingredients. I'm really satisfied as it doesn't cause any blemishes, keeps my skin hydrated, and absorbs well. I plan to continue using it even after giving birth! The only downside I can think of is that there's a shipping fee when purchasing online. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. - yi*********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 4, 2022
An excellent cream with simple ingredients that creates a moisture barrier to maintain hydration. It's a high-quality moisturizer suitable for various skin types. You might find it slightly lacking in hydration during seasonal changes. If you're using it as a hydrating cream and need more nourishment, try mixing in a drop of facial oil for added richness.
