If you're looking for brightening, I don't think there's a better product out there. However, if you have super sensitive skin, it might cause some irritation. It's best to test it out by applying small amounts gradually. I use this occasionally for my dark spots, but somehow the brightening effect is... meh. My dark spots seem to stand out even more. There's no dramatic effect on hyperpigmentation. It feels like the whole face gets brighter, so the dark spots appear slightly faded, but it's more of a vague impression than anything else. It works well when used with a moisturizer or a madecassoside cream, keeping your skin from feeling dry. - Hwahae UserDry SkinNov 30, 2017
Hmm... I'm not sure. It applies smoothly, I suppose? Oh, it's shiny. I received this as a gift and have been using it. But to be honest, I'm not sure about the effectiveness... For this price?? I had a lot of doubts about it. - al******Dry SkinSensitive SkinJun 18, 2017
I've been using this product for over a year before the radiation incident. It's moisturizing and when I apply it, I feel like my face becomes a little brighter. The only concerns I have are that it's a Japanese product, so the radiation worries me a bit, and it's a bit pricey. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJun 15, 2017
It's one of the products I've been using for a long time. When I use it, my skin feels brighter. The price is outrageous, so I usually take advantage of duty-free opportunities. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJun 4, 2017
It's all good. No trouble even for sensitive skin. My skin tone has become brighter. It lacks a bit of moisture and the amount is a little small compared to the price. - yo*********Combination SkinMay 1, 2017
Despite being an emulsion, it provides sufficient moisture. No trouble at all, and my skin has improved tremendously. It's a natural product, but I highly recommend the Shiseido Whitessence line. The price is quite burdensome, considering how good the product is. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 10, 2016
This is a nice, well-rounded lotion with a pleasant, slightly oily scent. It has quite a bit of oil in it. As I have combination skin, it's fine at first, but over time, my T-zone gets very oily and it feels stuffy and sticky. The whitening function seems to be almost non-existent. I don't intend to repurchase it. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinJun 23, 2016
It's applied very thinly, which is great, and it leaves a refreshing feeling after application. Considering the price, the effect seems a bit lacking. I felt like my skin tone got a bit brighter, but it didn't make me look whiter. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJun 11, 2016
The whitening effect is so powerful that my face looks brighter after using it. After using it, my chin and cheeks felt warm and flushed. The flushing on my cheeks subsided quickly, but the warmth on my chin lasted for about 15 minutes. After 10 minutes, the flushing went away, but... I was surprised to find that it contains quite a few harmful ingredients. It's a skincare product, but it has dimethicone in it... I'm quite shocked by that. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinApr 8, 2016
I had a really hard time finding basic skincare products that suited my dry, sensitive, and extremely sensitive skin. But as I got older, the dullness just got worse, and it was really not a good look... So I've always just used moisturizing basic products, but I thought I'd try a whitening one this time, and wow! I love it! My skin has noticeably brightened, and these days, it's so nice to see my glowing skin after washing my face!! (To be honest, I was really stressed every time I looked in the mirror because my skin had gotten so dull and didn't seem to go back to normal - will I have to live with this forever? 😢) I used to use the Shiseido Moisture line before, but I felt like it was too lightweight and didn't really hydrate enough. The White Lucent actually feels a bit more nourishing while still being moisturizing. The reason for the four-star rating is that it stings my eye area a bit when I apply it. I'm not sure why that is...
