There's a subtle shimmer that's not overwhelming and looks pretty. The texture is smooth while drawing the line and before it dries, which I loved! I thought the product inside might dry out quickly and become unusable, but surprisingly, it doesn't harden - maybe because of the thick cap. That's a plus! It's challenging to use when you're in a hurry. The liner dries and sets immediately after drawing, so if you make a mistake, it's nearly impossible to remove by rubbing, which can irritate your skin. You have to completely remove it with a cotton swab and makeup remover, then start over from scratch. It's not easy to make corrections, so it might be difficult for those who aren't skilled at drawing eyeliner. The color is deep and intense, which I really like. It applies smoothly and the staying power is impressive - it's still there the next day even without removing my makeup! While the price is a bit steep, I think it's worth it for this quality. I definitely plan to repurchase! There wasn't really anything I disliked about it. I've been using this ever since it first launched. I used to use Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner, but I much prefer MAC's gel liner. It smudges less than other gel eyeliners, applies smoothly, and dries quickly. Plus, it lasts all day! The amount you get is also beast-mode generous. There's not much to dislike, but if I had to pick something, I've never been able to use it up completely. Absolutely fantastic! It doesn't smudge at all, has amazing staying power, and the color is natural and beautiful. It glides on effortlessly. I'm thoroughly impressed. I've tried Mac lipsticks before since they're famous for them, but I had a preconception that their other products wouldn't be as good. I bought this on a friend's recommendation, and now I feel I can approach all Mac products with an open mind. The downside is having to choose the brush yourself. The color is beautiful and it applies smoothly. However, the brush quality is a bit lacking. I'd recommend using a Bobbi Brown brush or any thin, precise brush for easier application. Otherwise, it can be challenging to use. It clumped a bit for me, though that might be due to my application technique. I'm using the brown shade. It doesn't smudge easily, and the color is versatile. There's plenty of product (though I wish I could use it up faster!). The best feature is definitely how well it stays put. It's quite average. After using it for over 3 months, the edges seem to be hardening. I bought a MAC brush with this, but that's a tip I'd rather not share - don't buy it! I've been using this product consistently for over 5 years now! I've already collected 5 or 6 empty containers and exchanged them for lipsticks, and I'm still collecting more. It's truly my holy grail product! However, it doesn't work well for the under-eye area. It seems to disappear quickly there.
