I've already tried Pyunkang Yul's body emulsion, oil, and peeling gel, which I've been using without any issues. The packaging was excellent - everything arrived intact and undamaged. The toner surprised me - it's not liquid, but rather a consistency between a gel and a fluid. It doesn't immediately absorb into a cotton pad, which is actually great because you don't need to use as much product. It applies smoothly, and after application, it gives a beautiful glow to the high points of my face. Even though it's just a toner meant for prepping the skin, seeing that glow already puts me in a great mood to start my skincare routine. I've been having a lot of blemishes around my chin lately, and I was worried that switching to a new toner might irritate my sensitive skin. However, not only did it not cause any new breakouts, but my existing ones have calmed down since I started using it. It seems to work well for me.
ConsThe lid is a bit difficult to open... But honestly, I couldn't find any real downsides to the product.
TipSince it's a bit thinner than a gel, a little goes a long way! When you apply it to a cotton pad, wait a few seconds before wiping your face - it takes a moment to absorb.

The formula feels moisturizing and nourishing, with excellent absorption. After application, you can feel it deeply hydrating your skin. As someone with dry, sensitive skin, I didn't experience any heaviness or greasiness, and it didn't cause any blemishes. I applied this toner, followed by an essence and cream before bed, and woke up feeling comfortably moisturized even the next day.
ConsThe downside is the packaging. The cap is a bit stiff to open, and because it's black, it shows dust very easily.
TipI personally apply the toner twice. I put on one layer, let it absorb, then apply a second layer before moving on to my essence. This method helps the hydration last longer.

But the Pyunkang Yul products have great ingredients and are so gentle that I haven't experienced any blemishes. I'm really enjoying using them! Even during this sensitive period when I'm particular about scents, this toner isn't irritating at all and feels great on my skin. It absorbs well and quickly, and I'm using it comfortably without any dryness this winter.
ConsThe toner's thin consistency made it a bit inconvenient to dispense into my hand as it would run off quickly. However, they've changed the cap to a spray type, so now I can use it like a mist, which is much more convenient!
TipChanging the toner cap to a spray format has made it so much more practical and enjoyable to use!

The Pyunkang Yul toner impressed me right away because it absorbs well without feeling like it's just sitting on top of my skin. True to its name as an 'essence toner', it's not as light as a water-based toner, but it's also not sticky or heavy. After it absorbs, it leaves a wonderfully fresh finish while keeping my skin hydrated. I used to have oily skin, but lately I've been struggling with deep dryness. I love that I can layer this toner multiple times after my exfoliating toner, just like I would with multiple layers of hydration. It builds up moisture without any pilling, which I really appreciate.
ConsIt has a scent reminiscent of herbs or chaga mushroom. While I personally enjoy this kind of fragrance, it might be an acquired taste for some. To be honest, the fact that I have to stretch to mention the scent as a potential downside shows that I really don't have any complaints about this product.

It has a very viscous consistency. Just a few drops create a protective layer on the face! Scent: Unscented, with a slight artificial note Effects: The skin feels deeply hydrated, like applying a watery aloe gel. It acts as an intermediate step between toner and ampoule, giving a sense of gradual skin nourishment. Texture: Drops like hair oil. At first, I accidentally used too much, but you can really feel the high concentration. It doesn't finish completely matte - there's a slight stickiness. When dropped on the back of the hand and tilted, it flows immediately! However, it doesn't run like a toner when applied to the face. Volume: Even with small amounts, it provides a lot of hydration. It seems like it will last a long time, making it great value for money! The volume is really excellent!
ConsIt doesn't have any effect on blemishes. For those with acne-prone skin, it's a relief that it doesn't cause any issues! If you use too much or don't control the amount well, it can become sticky and not absorb properly, so you need to pat it in well (speaking from experience of initially using too much...) There aren't really any downsides!
TipDepending on face size and shape, about 5-6 drops were right for me! -> I have a smaller face and dry skin, so I tend to apply an extra layer of cream compared to average.

While water-based toners provide instant hydration, they lack moisture retention and evaporate quickly. However, when I applied this Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, I felt like it helped maintain hydration. The texture has a slight viscosity and feels slippery, so it's not suitable as an exfoliating toner, but it worked well on its own like an essence. Since I have dry skin, I still needed to layer a hydrating cream and moisturizer on top! Personally, I found it provided more immediate hydration than water-based toners, and its slippery texture helped lock in moisture, soothing my dry skin. I didn't experience any blemishes while using it! The product has incredibly gentle ingredients, which I could feel during use. Usually, applying cream to dry skin can sting, but I didn't experience that with this. In the before photo of my hand, you can see some dead skin cells due to dryness, but after use, it smoothed them out. Typically, dry toners cause flaking to return quickly, but despite being a toner, this product maintained softness throughout my review period! True to its name as an essence toner, it definitely feels like a serum or essence. I usually follow a skincare routine of exfoliating toner - essence/serum - cream, but I found it nice and lightweight to skip the essence/serum step and go straight from this essence toner to cream! It's not overly nourishing, focusing effectively on hydration, so it's not burdensome to use with other products and seems suitable for use in any season. Checking online, I found the price to be reasonable and the packaging clean, so I'm considering repurchasing~!
ConsI didn't experience any particular disappointments while using this product.
TipDon't use it as an exfoliating toner. Instead, apply the product by dropping it onto your skin one drop at a time with the dropper, then gently spreading it.

But through Pyunkang Yul, I tried an essence toner for the first time. First off, I loved how it left my skin feeling much more hydrated than my previous toner, without being sticky. And maybe it's just my imagination... but from the third day, I felt like my skin was getting brighter. While it's impossible for my naturally dark complexion to become fair, after cleansing and using Pyunkang Yul with a cotton pad to wipe and then absorb, my skin looked noticeably more radiant than usual right after use.
ConsFor those who, like me, have only used water-like cleansing toners, this might feel a bit heavy at first. However, you'll quickly get used to it, and if you really want that cleansing feeling, you could use your regular toner to cleanse and then apply Pyunkang Yul afterwards.
TipI soaked a thin cotton pad generously and wiped my face, then patted the remaining product into my skin several times for better absorption! You don't have to use a cotton pad, but I found this method more convenient and refreshing than applying directly with hands after cleansing.

However, it feels comfortable on the skin and becomes more elastic when layered multiple times, making it perfect for spring and summer use. Given its name 'Essence Toner', it has a slight viscosity. The quantity seems more suitable for use as an essence rather than a toner due to its limited amount. Even after multiple layers, it doesn't provide extreme elasticity to the skin, so it might be more suitable for oily skin types rather than dry skin.
ConsThe quantity is far too small to use as a toner. Yet, it feels a bit light to use as an essence. This essence toner seems more suited for summer use or for those with extremely oily skin.

I've been keeping an eye on Pyunkang Yul products, so I'm grateful for this opportunity to try it out. My skin has been dry lately, but the runny texture makes it feel extra moisturizing.
ConsThe amount feels a bit small. It seems too precious to use liberally. Also, the lid is quite stiff, making me worry I might break a nail when opening it. Because of this, I tend not to close it tightly.

However, when I applied it to my face, I noticed a very subtle fragrance. It's so close to being unscented that even those sensitive to fragrances should be able to use it comfortably. The texture is different from traditional toners. While most toners have a watery consistency, this one has a slightly thicker texture, like a blend between an essence and a toner. It definitely holds moisture better than typical toners, helping to combat that initial dryness with just one layer. I have combination dehydrated skin with occasional blemishes, deep dryness, and an oily T-zone. Using this toner alone while keeping the rest of my skincare routine the same, I didn't experience any new breakouts. It effectively addressed my skin's deep dryness, first with the toner and then again with the rest of my routine, making it very effective at combating dryness. Moreover, it's gentle and only contains seven ingredients as stated. My skin accepted it without any issues.
ConsThe only downside is that one of the seven ingredients is a PEG compound. However, I personally didn't experience any discomfort from this ingredient, so it wasn't a problem for me.
TipWhile it's described as an exfoliating toner, I don't use it that way as I avoid even the slightest irritation from cotton pads on my face. Instead, I apply it by patting it into my skin with my hands. When I want extra hydration, I soak a cotton pad with the toner and use it as a toner mask. After using it as a mask, my skin feels much less dry and there's no irritation, so I highly recommend trying this method!
