And when you apply it, your skin tone really brightens up. When I'm too lazy to do full makeup, I just use this. I'm already on my 3rd bottle!
ConsSince it's a whitening product, if you apply too much, it can get cakey and not spread well. I recommend using just the right amount.
TipIf you're looking to brighten your complexion rather than just cover blemishes, give this a try.

ConsI thought sunscreen needed to be applied quite generously, but even though I didn't apply that much, it came off like a tide and I couldn't use it at all, so I stopped using it after a few times...

ConsI tend to apply sunscreen very generously, but when I use a small amount, my face becomes too pale, and I can't apply the same amount as I normally do. Also, I'm spreading it down to my neck, like erasing a pencil mark.

However, the review submission deadline for this product is by the 12th, so this review is based on about 10 days of use since receiving the product on September 1st. Therefore, please consider that my personal opinions and thoughts may be more heavily reflected in this review, as I may not have had sufficient time to fully evaluate the product. I personally prefer a more matte skin finish rather than a dewy, glowy look, and I have combination skin (oily T-zone, dry cheeks) with a fair 21 shade. I do not use any corrective makeup and can maintain my makeup from morning until evening just by blotting with oil-absorbing sheets. I have worn contact lenses before, so I have avoided using chemical sunscreens that can cause eye irritation. One of the best things about the Claris sun lotion was that it did not cause any eye irritation, despite containing chemical sunscreen ingredients. I normally use a mineral sunscreen, but even that would sometimes sting my eyes a bit. However, this product had a refreshing, moisturizing application like applying a chilled cream, and it spread smoothly without feeling sticky or thick, unlike typical sunscreens.
Cons* I use the Baha 1% pads daily in the morning and evening to chemically exfoliate, so my skin is free of dead skin cells. * The blue tint in the product made it appear more prominent on my face compared to regular white sunscreens. So, I tried to blend it in by rubbing it, but the more I rubbed, the more the sunscreen seemed to be pushed away, almost like washing it off. I consider this a critical flaw (likely due to the "xanthan gum" ingredient and its slippery property). In the mornings, I only apply toner as my base, and I was quite surprised to see the sunscreen being pushed away like that, even though I hadn't applied an excessive amount of skincare. With this much slipperiness, I don't think I'd be able to apply makeup over it. But I can't just wear this sunscreen alone either, right? I feel this product definitely needs improvement in this aspect. Also, I'm not sure if it's the guaiazulene, but the scent of the product is quite... unusual. To my nose, it smells like a damp towel... While it felt moisturizing upon application, I think that moisturizing sensation was mostly from the oil, as my face ended up looking and feeling much oilier than usual, causing my makeup to wear off quickly in the afternoon, requiring me to do touch-ups. Luckily, I didn't experience any breakouts, but the excessive shine and oiliness mean I likely won't continue using this product. The slippery nature also makes it difficult to apply makeup on top.
TipI'm grateful for the opportunity to be selected as a Hwahae Trial Reviewer and receive the product for free. However, in order to provide a review that can be truly helpful to others, I couldn't simply praise the product without also mentioning its drawbacks. First of all, I would recommend this product to those with dry skin and reddish/ruddy complexions. For other skin types, it may not be the best fit. This seems particularly suitable for those who want to use the sun lotion alone for natural skin enhancement, without additional makeup (e.g., men, busy moms, students, etc.). However, if you try to apply anything on top of it, the slippery nature of the product can make it very difficult to work with. Additionally, since this is a chemical sunscreen rather than a mineral one, I'm a bit concerned about how gentle it may be on the skin. While it does provide sun protection by absorbing UV rays, it may not be as mild as a purely physical sunscreen. The product's highly moisturizing and oily nature means it's likely not suitable for those with oily or combination skin types, as the excess sebum could cause makeup to wear off quickly. - Update on September 21st: My 50-year-old mother, who has dry skin with redness, absolutely loves this product. She says it doesn't slip or slide on her dry skin, absorbs quickly, and provides great complexion enhancement. Previously, she disliked using mineral sunscreens like mine, finding them uncomfortable, but she finds the Claris product to be a perfect fit for her skin. She continues to use it daily and wants to keep using it, as it keeps her skin feeling moisturized and comfortable. This seems to be an excellent option for those with dry, ruddy complexions. * Photo 1: Texture of the Claris sun lotion and how it appears after application, with some creasing and shine. * Photo 2: The "slipping away" effect of the sunscreen after application. * Photo 3: Comparison of oil control between Claris sun lotion and a mineral sunscreen (Missha) after 5 hours. * Photo 4: Closer look at the oil/shine difference. * Photo 5: Complexion enhancement test on my 50-year-old mother with dry, reddish skin.

Even though I slathered it on to get good sun protection, it didn't feel too sticky or greasy at all. I'm usually not very sensitive to sunscreens stinging my eyes, but this one doesn't sting my eyes at all. Maybe that's because it has a glow to it? Wearing just this on my bare face makes my skin look better than wearing nothing. The application is pretty good and it works well with my makeup. It also seems like it doesn't make my skin get as oily as other sunscreens, so I wonder if it has a primer function too? I haven't broken out or anything from using this, and it suits me well.
ConsThere is a bit of a peeling effect, so I have to pat my foundation on rather than just applying it. This may be because it's less oily than other sunscreens, but it does emphasize the flaky skin around my nose. And there is a slight white cast, but I actually don't mind it since I apply a BB cream or foundation to my face anyway. The white cast probably means it has really good sun protection. I wouldn't recommend this for someone who doesn't wear makeup, as the white cast would be quite noticeable. But for me, with a base product on top, it's not an issue.
TipYou know the eye area is the most prone to discoloration, right? Make sure to apply sunscreen carefully around the eyes. Don't rub it in, just gently pat it on.

It seems to provide effective sun protection, but I usually avoid sunscreens with 'ethyl-' ingredients as they tend to cause eye irritation for me. However, this product does not seem to cause any eye discomfort. The formula appears to be relatively gentle, with some additional skin brightening and anti-aging ingredients, though those are not essential. There is a slight cooling sensation when applied, likely due to the inclusion of heat-blocking ingredients, though the exact heat protection level is not specified. The product has a light, transparent white cast rather than an opaque, heavy one, providing a tone-up effect without much coverage. The finish is non-greasy and powdery, without any sticky or tight sensations. Those who prefer this type of lightweight, non-oily sunscreen texture would likely enjoy this product.
ConsThe application and adherence of this sunscreen can vary depending on the other skincare products used. When applied alone on bare skin, the lightweight, airy texture allows for a smooth, transparent application. However, when layered with other products like a pre-sunscreen skincare routine or makeup, it can become more difficult to apply evenly, especially around the nose area where it tends to cling and not spread as smoothly. The formula has a slightly whipped, mousse-like texture, which may contribute to the uneven application over multiple layers. The product has a blue-tinted base, which provides a tone-up effect but can also make the skin appear less radiant, especially for those with yellow or red undertones in their complexion. As someone with a cooler, lighter skin tone, I found the blue-ish cast to be less flattering. Overall, the application and finish of this sunscreen seem to work best when used alone on bare skin, but may require more effort to integrate seamlessly into a multi-step skincare and makeup routine.
TipThe product introduction mentions 'containing guaiazulene', which seems to be the key ingredient. Upon further research, guaiazulene is a blue-colored compound used as a colorant and fragrance in cosmetics, likely contributing to the bluish tint of this sunscreen. After using the product, I found that gently patting it onto the skin rather than rubbing it in helped minimize any pilling or uneven application, especially when layering it with other skincare or makeup products. On areas of the body without additional products, the sunscreen provided a nice, transparent tone-up effect with a hydrating yet non-greasy finish. It was particularly effective at evening out the tone on the neck area, blending seamlessly with the made-up face. Over time, the product seemed to become more compatible with my skin, with less pilling or uneven application issues. As long as it's used with compatible skincare, it can be a convenient option for light coverage and tone correction, without needing a full makeup routine. However, in very sweaty summer conditions, I did experience some issues with the product sliding or floating on the skin, especially on the face. Overall, it seems to work best as a standalone sunscreen for the body, but may require some trial and adjustment when used as part of a full facial skincare and makeup regimen.

From today, I plan to use it consistently and update it until the 12th. I carefully apply a small amount, about the size of a fingertip. Although they said it was heavily whitening, it's not that bad and it's about the same as a normal sunscreen. When I spread it out, the whitening gradually disappears and it's just slightly whiter, like having applied a bit of sunscreen. I didn't rub it too much, just for around tens of seconds. It has a sky-blue color and a mousse-like texture, so it doesn't drip. It's not watery but smooth, so it applies well. It has a more mousse-like texture than a dense cream. The scent is similar to an aroma-type? It's similar to the multi-oil I recently started using from Mizoon. I didn't apply it to my neck and just used the Kilcover cushion (linen) right away, and there was no difference. Even though some was left on my fingers after application, I don't feel it's very oily. I've been wearing it for over 5 hours and there's hardly any oil. Right after application, there's not an excessive glow, just enough to know I've applied it. I'm not sure if it got more matte after applying the base. I was worried about the fermented ingredients, but so far there's no itchiness or burning sensation. + 09.05 Since I didn't use powder, the oil comes up well. I'll do a light powder application. + 09.09 My skin tone is definitely whitened, the store manager at Depe said I'd match shade 103, which I don't like. Those who don't like their skin tone becoming too white should avoid this. It's more concentrated than a 500 won coin, so I apply it to my neck and behind my ears with a damp air puff, so it doesn't get too white.
ConsThe blemishes are coming up reddish and purplish, so I wouldn't say the coverage is extremely good at color-correcting. As soon as I apply the base, the flakiness around my nose is emphasized. I didn't notice it when I applied powder with a mist, but around 6 hours later when I looked in the mirror, my skin felt dry. Overall, flakiness is emphasized across my entire face. There's also slight emphasis on the uneven texture. It doesn't seem to have the function of concealing the uneven texture or minimizing the appearance of pores. For those who wear glasses, when using this sunscreen, the nose area gets clumped up. It's not just melted and smeared, but somehow solidly clumped. It's better to avoid using powder when using this sunscreen. After cleansing, small blemishes have popped up. + 09.02 After using it twice, I'm starting to dislike using it. The flakiness and clumping are no joke. I thought the matte Kilcover might be the issue, so I used The Face Shop's thermal water serum foundation, but there's no improvement, and it even looks yellowish like the blemishes are festering. I'm not sure which one is the problem. I'm thinking of not using powder at all while using this sunscreen. It's not sticky, but my hair does get stuck to it. Oh, I forgot to mention, this morning it peeled off like a mask! This is the first time it's peeled off my face like that. Maybe it's because I just applied toner without cotton pads. It peeled off so much that I had to pat it off with a damp disposable puff. At first, it didn't peel off with just my hands and didn't leave any marks, so I just applied it, but the puff seems necessary.
TipI also applied it to my neck, and it feels like my face and neck have become so white that I look like a plaster statue. + 09.06 Without using powder, the flakiness is less noticeable. And I'll use a damp puff for the sunscreen, base, and powder. The flakiness has really decreased a lot, and the whitening has also reduced. It's difficult to apply the sunscreen over makeup. It doesn't clump, but it makes my skin look unnaturally white, slightly emphasizing my pores and flakiness. Later, I find my makeup has become messy and oily. When I scratch the itchy areas, the foundation gets mixed in and sticks to my hands. + 09.09 The blemishes haven't become severely widespread and painful, but I keep getting them on my forehead, cheeks, and temples, and they don't seem to heal quickly. + 09.12 When I pat the CC cushion on top of this sunscreen, it becomes extremely white. The whitening has decreased with the damp puff, but it still looks unnaturally pale. + 09.12 I can't really feel any wrinkle creasing except around my lips. Is it just fingerprints that people are complaining about when they say it creases, since I don't apply it with my hands? And no matter what, the flakiness is emphasized excessively. With autumn coming, there's a massive amount of flakiness on my T-zone and forehead. Plus, due to the CC cushion making me look too pale, I stopped using it for a while, but when I used it again recently, the blemishes came back (...) I feel like it's becoming more watery, as if the skin and lotion are coming out of the same hole. Is it separating?
