The gentle ingredients allow for generous application without any skin burden. 2. The narrow tube opening makes it easy to control the amount and ensures hygienic use. Its compact size is also convenient for carrying around. 3. It absorbs well and feels lightweight on the skin. Thanks to its non-sticky formula that quickly absorbs, it's great for my oily skin as it doesn't leave a greasy residue. 4. While not dramatically effective, it provides a nice overall soothing sensation to the face.
Cons1. The scent is quite strong, reminiscent of burnt rubber. It's probably due to the lack of added fragrances, which was a bit surprising at first. However, you get used to it and it becomes less noticeable. 2. The hydration level might be insufficient for dry weather conditions like autumn or winter, potentially requiring additional moisturizing steps.

It's truly a versatile basic product that can be used daily by all skin types - sensitive, oily, or dry.
ConsThere's a slight medicinal scent, and it feels more like it creates a film on your face rather than absorbing. When you wash your face in a basin, the water becomes slightly cloudy from the cream. For better hydration that lasts longer, it's best to apply in thin layers rather than all at once. As it's a daily cream, it tends to wear off quickly in the current situation of wearing masks for hours.

A reliable cream that's perfect for use year-round, except in winter. The tube packaging keeps it hygienic. It's oil-free and doesn't leave a greasy feeling.
ConsThe quantity is a bit small. The texture is slightly thick and can feel a bit stiff when applying. There's a faint medicinal scent that reminds me of ointment.

I decided to try this product since it's famous for being gentle, and I bought it when it was on sale. First off, I liked the affordable price. Since I couldn't find any reviews comparing the Cica Balm and Barrier Cream, I'll write a comparison-style review. I appreciated that both come in tube packaging. I tend to avoid jar-type creams for hygiene reasons, and tubes make it much easier to control the amount. So, I definitely recommend tube-type creams! In the photo, the Cica Balm is on top and the Barrier Cream is below. Looking at their appearance, the text is smaller, but when using both products together, you can easily distinguish them by the cap color, which is quite convenient! The blue cap is for the Cica Balm, and the white cap is for the Barrier Cream. The Barrier Cream has the texture we typically associate with creams, but it feels slightly lighter. I thought the Cica Balm, which I bought just in case, might actually be better for winter use. The Barrier Cream seems great for those who want a moisturizing, fresh feel for summer application. As for the Cica Balm, it's not as thick as an ointment texture as I expected. It's slightly translucent with a texture between an ointment and a cream, so it's not too heavy. Don't worry about using it - I'd recommend the Cica Balm as your winter cream!
ConsI bought both thinking they were unscented, but there was a slight silicone-like scent. It's not a strong fragrance - only those sensitive to scents might notice it. However, it doesn't smell particularly beneficial for the skin, so I'm not a fan of that aspect. But overall, I'm satisfied because the cream itself has good application, texture, and absorbs well.
TipI recommend using both the Barrier Cream and Cica Cream in winter! My skin tends to be extremely dry, so I usually apply a lot of product, whether it's an emulsion or cream. For those with dry skin, I think these might be slightly lacking in richness.

It doesn't react well to aromatic oils (skin irritants), overly acidic ingredients, mugwort extract, bamboo water, propolis, or chamomile flower water. Even slightly excessive oil or nourishment can cause blemishes. I continuously update my reviews after prolonged use of cosmetics. Ingredients: - Free from 20 potentially problematic ingredients Texture: - Similar to an ointment with reduced oiliness - Not lightweight, but not sticky either - Leaves skin feeling slightly moisturized - Suitable for oily skin, might be too dry for dry skin types Accessibility: - Available at Lala*, making it easy to purchase or test Skin condition: - Doesn't cause blemishes on sensitive skin
ConsPackaging: - While the tube is hygienic and easy to control product amount, it's unnecessarily thin - Difficult to store as it can't stand upright, despite being only 40ml - They could have taken cues from TheLab by* sunscreen packaging Scent: - Smells like ointment (may vary per individual) Skin condition: - Causes extreme deep dryness, making skin feel like it might crack - Both their toner and cream are drying - (Those who typically use toner + cream might find their skin feeling tight = me) - Seems to create a barrier to prevent moisture loss rather than providing hydration - It's more of a skin barrier cream than a moisturizer - Leaves skin feeling ambiguously moisturized on the surface while dry underneath - To use this cream effectively, you'd need to layer hydrating products like toner, essence, and emulsion beforehand - Might work as a finishing step for oily skin types or those who use heavy hydrating products
TipThe main advantage seems to be the ingredients, similar to Make* Rem in formulation and scent Make* Rem is also for sensitive skin with simple ingredients, but contains sage oil which didn't work for me Make* Rem is more emollient and less drying than Cynic Recommendations: - For very sensitive skin wanting a moderately moisturizing cream with simple ingredients (suits aromatics but not centella) -> Try Make* Rem - For oily skin that suits centella but not aromatics, with multiple skincare steps -> Try Cynic Looking back, I may have been too harsh. Sensitive skin has limited options. This cream might require additional skincare steps, but minimizing product use is key for sensitive skin. It's in an awkward position. Will I repurchase: No 25/06/2020: Apart from being suitable for sensitive skin due to simple ingredients, I found it lacking in all aspects. Other products would be needed to cover its shortcomings. I even bought their emulsion to combat the dryness, which might have been Cynic's grand plan... The high rating is because it didn't cause blemishes on extremely sensitive skin and even helped calm existing ones. As mentioned in the toner review, the lack of irritation is likely due to minimal ingredients rather than actual soothing effects.

The ingredients are pure and gentle. 2. When I used this, my blemishes seemed to subside and people told me my skin looked better. But after switching to something else... sigh...
Cons1. Even when buying it on sale, it's still expensive and the amount you get is... ugh... 2. It has a medicinal scent. The smell does dissipate after about 5 minutes of application though.
Tip1. Make sure to compare prices before purchasing. 2. Apply it in the morning. It might not provide enough hydration if used at night. After application, it's best to fan your face with your hands or wait a while before applying sunscreen.

ConsIs it just me...? It has a rubbery smell, which makes me uncomfortable every time I apply it. Also, it's a bit disappointing as a substitute for a moisturizer. It's better suited for summer use.

It's a simple product that does exactly what it's supposed to do.
ConsAs someone with very dry skin, I found it slightly lacking. It felt a bit light for me. Also, there was a distinct scent - kind of medicinal. If you're sensitive to smells, I'd recommend trying a sample first before committing.

While the toner and emulsion are quite light and can feel like they evaporate quickly, it's still early spring, so the emulsion alone wasn't quite enough for hydration. Applying this cream afterwards created a protective layer that made my skin feel more stable. As expected, its mildly acidic formula with gentle ingredients makes it great for daily use. What I appreciate most is the tube packaging - I prefer tubes, and this one has a narrow opening that makes it super convenient and hygienic to use. I'd give it top marks for that alone. I wish all emulsions and creams came in these rubber tube containers!
ConsThere's a slight strange scent at the end, almost like a medicinal smell. While the scent doesn't bother me much, I'm disappointed with how it absorbs. It keeps sitting on top of my skin and doesn't seem to absorb well, which is a letdown.

My skin always looked shiny after moisturizing, and I couldn't tell if it was oil or water. When I applied this cream on top, both products seemed to absorb into my skin perfectly. So I always used the combination of moisturizer + barrier cream. I bought it because it was cheap, and it was neither particularly good nor bad, just okay.
ConsWhen applied on its own, this cream feels a bit thick. It also has a medicinal scent, so using it felt like applying medicine to my skin. At first, I didn't like it much, but I got used to it. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.
