- Really great for scalp care: As someone with an oily scalp, I've found regular scalp scrubs essential since I started using them. This product is gentle and leaves my scalp feeling refreshed. - Less drying than other scalp scrubs: Unlike other oil-control shampoos and scalp scrubs that tend to leave hair feeling stiff and dry, this product has the least of that effect. - Reduces greasiness: On days when I use this product, my hair definitely feels less greasy. - Hair can feel slightly stiff: While the product tries hard to minimize hair stiffness, there's still a bit of that effect due to its nature. I recommend using it with a conditioner or hair treatment. - The price is high: Like most Lush products, it's not exactly budget-friendly. - fl*****Oily SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsMar 4, 2024
As someone with an extremely oily scalp who can't go without oil control, here's my take: Cleansing Power: It seems to cleanse well. There are coarse salt-like particles inside, giving it a slight scrub feel. I was surprised by how well it lathers, better than expected. Volume: This shampoo makes your hair feel stiffer, which seems to create a bit of volume! It's not dramatic, more like a subtle difference that you'd notice yourself but others might not. Lush Quality: True to Lush's reputation, the fragrance is lovely. The scent is strong while washing, but after rinsing, it's hard to tell if it lingers... maybe just a faint trace? I wish it lasted a bit longer. Longevity: I bought this expensive shampoo expecting its oil control to last, but I'm disappointed it didn't live up to my expectations. So I did an experiment... 6 hours after washing: The hair behind and inside my ears started to get slightly greasy. 12 hours after: About 70% of my hair was noticeably oily, even to others. It got greasy much faster than I hoped, making me wonder if I fell for overhyped marketing. Value for Money: In my opinion, the value is terrible. The amount you get is small compared to the astronomical price. I was shocked when buying it. It's the kind of price you'd only consider during a Lush sale. Overall: I'll keep using it until I find another shampoo, but I'm definitely looking for a more cost-effective option to switch to. This shampoo makes your hair quite stiff, so you can't skip conditioner entirely. If you have hair that gets oily quickly like mine, try using a tiny amount of conditioner just on the ends. Also, if you tend to get greasy hair, doing a pre-wash before your main shampoo seems to help it last a bit longer! If you know of any other good shampoos, please leave a comment below! - jn*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 31, 2024
The scent is refreshingly cool, and it gives a sense of thoroughly cleansing the scalp, which I found invigorating. It lathers up better than expected, which is another plus. I also appreciated that it wasn't too harsh on the scalp. The small quantity is a downside, and it's been discontinued (though I'm still using it as it's available in some stores). Apart from that, no major issues. Oh, and the price is quite steep, especially considering the amount you get. That's probably the first thing that comes to mind. Also, it leaves my hair feeling slightly dry. Make sure to massage the shampoo evenly into your scalp. A little goes a long way in terms of lather, so I highly recommend following up with a treatment. While it leaves the scalp feeling refreshed, it can be a bit drying for the hair. - ab*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsRecommendedMar 26, 2023
The fragrance of this product is absolutely delightful. It's a fresh, gentle shower scent that makes you want to take deep breaths. It reminds me of a luxurious soap! Being a salt shampoo, it has excellent cleansing effectiveness. I was worried the salt chunks might make it difficult to wash, but it lathers up nicely and works great! The salt granules are quite large, so it may take some getting used to when you first start using it. Those with super sensitive skin might find the coarse salt chunks a bit irritating. - ru********Dry SkinRecommendedAug 3, 2022
Highly recommended for oily scalp Thanks to the salt content, it completely eliminates oiliness! It even cleanses hair that hasn't been washed for 2 days thoroughly. Subtle fragrance Strong scents often make me dizzy, but this refreshing neroli scent with sweet vanilla undertones leaves me feeling great. Lathers well Most natural shampoos don't foam much, but this one lathers amazingly! For shoulder-length thick hair, 2-3 teaspoons are plenty. Extremely tangled hair Probably due to the lack of silicone, it makes hair incredibly tangled. If you have dry hair, you'll need to use a ton of conditioner to combat the tangles. Inconvenient packaging Since it's a product you have to scoop out, water can get in easily, and it becomes a hassle to use. Short shelf life The shelf life is only a year and a half, which is quite short. As a scalp shampoo, I only use it twice a week, so the short expiration date is a concern. Expensive The price is brutal compared to the volume. It's very expensive and keeps getting pricier. I might not be able to afford it soon... Did you know about the Black Pot recycling program? If you collect 5 of these flip-top containers after use and bring them to a Lush store, you can exchange them for a Fresh Face Mask worth $25! - jk*****Dry SkinInner DrynessRecommendedJul 23, 2022
Whether it's due to seborrheic scalp or stress, I noticed my hair was falling out more than usual. I discovered Lush's Big Shampoo while searching for a product suitable for oily hair that could also protect my locks. The price was a bit steep for a trial run, so I ended up purchasing it at a duty-free shop. After using it, I'm extremely satisfied. The lather is rich, and although the scent dissipates quickly, it's a fragrance I really enjoy. First and foremost, my scalp feels refreshed after washing. This invigorating sensation continues during and after blow-drying. 1. Dryness Since quitting my job, my stress levels have decreased, which seems to have reduced the heat sensation on my scalp. With less scalp heat, using it daily has actually made my hair too dry. Now I only use it about once a week or when I have plans, mainly for added volume. 2. Dissolving salt There's a satisfying feeling when shampooing with the salt granules, but it's disheartening to see them dissolve due to the heat from my hands and contact with water. 3. Packaging Similar to point 2. It would have been better with a pump dispenser... 1. Scoop out the shampoo, place it on your hair, let it soak, then add water to create a lather. Since the salt granules can irritate the scalp, it's best to let the shampoo soak first, then add water. As the salt dissolves, it creates a foam. At this point, gently cleanse with your fingertips. 2. While the scalp feels refreshed, the hair can become a bit dry, so it's essential to apply a hair essence afterward. - li*********Combination SkinRecommendedJun 28, 2022
The scent lasts quite a while, and it rinses off leaving my hair feeling squeaky clean, which I love! Even with a small amount, it lathers up wonderfully. I apply it to my hair like I'm rubbing salt into it, then shower first before rinsing. It leaves my hair feeling fantastically clean and refreshed. It might be too cleansing for those looking for moisture, as it leaves the hair feeling very clean. The packaging is a bit disappointing. It's tricky to use with wet hands, and twisting it open and closed is inconvenient. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 17, 2022
For those with super oily hair, the cleansing effectiveness was spot-on. Usually my hair gets greasy after just one day, but with this, I could go two days without washing. After looking into it, I found the ingredients weren't great. I used it once a week for about 2 months, then increased to twice a week. Not sure if it's because of this, but I'm experiencing significant hair loss. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedApr 26, 2022
This is the only scrub shampoo I use! I love the scent, and most importantly, the large particles give a refreshing scrubbing sensation! I do a pre-wash with another product, then use this scrub. It leaves my scalp feeling clean, and the fragrance lasts long. I've been using this product for years! The price... that's the only downside! Haha. Aside from the cost, it's truly an excellent product in every way. - de****Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedApr 23, 2022
Wow, this was my first time trying a solid shampoo bar from Lush, and it exceeded my expectations! It lathered up beautifully with rich foam, had a lovely scent, and made my entire shower experience so enjoyable! There weren't any real downsides. If I had to nitpick, I might say there's a slight concern about water getting into the solid bar format, but that's really stretching it.
