Richness that seems to throw off the oil and moisture balance
Even though I only applied the toner, I wake up with oil on my hands in the morning. At first, it feels like it's filling up with moisture, but over time it quickly becomes greasy. It might be good to use in the dead of winter, but it seems too heavy for summer use.

Scent
Maybe because of the fermented black rice, it had a scent somewhat like nail polish remover to me. It didn't bother me much, but I think it could be hit or miss for some people.

I'm the type who feels so dry that I use oil even in summer, but when I used this product for review, I only used this toner in my skincare routine! That's how rich it is. I used an exfoliating toner once and then layered this toner again, and it was so moisturizing that I didn't need a separate emulsion or cream afterwards. When applied to the face, it felt like a drop of oil had been added to the toner.

I used this as an exfoliating toner. If you're looking for hydration, it might be better to pat on a hydrating toner with your hands rather than using an exfoliating one.

I didn't feel much hydration from applying this. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. While I use other toners alongside this one, so it's hard to be certain, I used to have slightly dehydrated skin, but now it's shifted to being more oil-deficient. Not sure if it's thanks to this product, but keep that in mind!

I'm writing this review as a lucky winner! First off, thanks to the Hwahae team. For me, it was just an average toner. If you dislike fragranced products, I wouldn't recommend this one. There's a noticeable scent, though I can't quite place it. I have slightly sensitive, dry skin, and I didn't experience any blemishes after using this! Those with somewhat sensitive skin can use it without worry.
