My skin type: Extremely sensitive + oily + severe blackheads and enlarged pores I usually prefer a matte finish, but lately I've been drawn to that gorgeous glowy look, so I started searching for a highlighter. Since I have more visible pores than most people, I was initially considering Laura Mercier's highlighter for its pore-blurring effect. However, I stumbled upon Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent. After reading tons of comparison reviews, everyone seemed to agree that Hourglass had finer shimmer particles. The reviews consistently described it as not a flashy shine or greasy look, but rather an "elevated" glow. So I decided to take the plunge. Oh boy, once I tried it myself, I totally got what those reviews meant! It truly gives an elegant, sophisticated glow that's subtle rather than intense. It's quite noticeable in natural light, but less so indoors (which is a bit disappointing). As for my main concern - nose pores - applying with fingers does emphasize them a bit, but using a brush in circular motions to "fill in" the pores significantly reduces their appearance. The more I use it though, I have some mixed feelings. The effect is quite subtle, which makes me wonder if it was worth the high price tag. Also, since I have oily skin, my nose gets shiny after a while and my pores become more noticeable again. I think this would work beautifully for those with already good skin or dry/normal skin types. Unfortunately, it's barely noticeable in indoor lighting... In natural light though, it's absolutely stunning! This review provides a detailed account of the user's experience with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incandescent. The translation maintains the friendly, conversational tone while incorporating relevant synonyms from the provided list. The cultural references and expressions have been adapted to resonate with English-speaking readers. The review highlights both the positive aspects (subtle, elegant glow; pore-blurring effect when applied with a brush) and the drawbacks (subtle effect may not justify the high price; less effective for oily skin types) of the product. - po*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 15, 2025
I used to like highlighters until I was 40 years old, but as I got older, I didn't use them as much. My pores got bigger and bumps kept appearing, so I barely used them. But I bought one because I heard the particles were fine and natural-looking. It's not too bright, but the subtle, natural glow is really pretty. Even though I have sensitive skin, I haven't had any major breakouts so far. Even if the particles are fine, you should apply it lightly. If you apply a little too much, it will look dull and thick. I thought I could use it like a finishing powder because of the word 'powder', so I applied it all over my face, and my makeup was ruined that day.... How stupid of me! Ah... It's too much to use just as a point, and it's also quite expensive~ I used to throw away highlighters because I couldn't use up the small amount even after more than a year, and I'm worried I won't be able to use even half of it. The product itself is not bad, but the efficiency is low, so it's the most regretted product among the ones I recently bought. Moreover, after I bought it, there was an additional discount, and a mini version was released... I'm so upset. - on******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedFeb 5, 2025
A natural highlighter that even those with textured skin can use. Until recently, I loved Laura's highlighter the most for its natural look and beautiful glow. However, Hourglass is even more natural, and the Incandescent shade gives a radiant color that I like even more. (Hourglass, Laura, and Guerlain are still my top 3.) Of course, if you apply too much, it can accentuate nose texture (for those with severe textured pores on the nose), but it's fine when applied subtly. Since I use such a small amount, it should last a long time, but it's an item I want to use forever. Please don't discontinue it! There's nothing bad to say... My only personal wish is that they would release a mini size for easy portability. - ji******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 3, 2025
The color payoff is beautifully soft and smooth. It has that characteristic glow typical of baked formulas. It's so fine that it doesn't quite give off a highlighter effect. Laura M's product feels more luxurious in comparison. - ba******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedDec 30, 2024
This highlighter gives a very natural glow and is definitely worth its premium price I found it a bit disappointing that it's almost too natural. I'd recommend it to those who prefer a subtle makeup look. It doesn't provide an intense glow - di****Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityRednessRecommendedOct 10, 2024
For shades 13-15 with light undertones: 1. If you're looking for a natural highlighting powder for fair skin, I highly recommend 'In'. I have Ofra, Dior, and other highlighters, but they're too intense for daily use. This one's perfect if you want something subtle for everyday wear. It's ideal for light cool-toned skin (13-17 range). However, if you prefer an intense glow, this might disappoint you. 2. The color is a white base with a hint of pink and opal pearl. It's so subtle that it's hard to tell if it's highlighter or just a natural glow. But in photos, it beautifully enhances dimension, making you look even prettier. 3. It's great for daily use. The product amount is generous and the packaging is sturdy. 4. Highly recommended for those wanting a subtle highlighter. If you prefer something more noticeable, try Ofra, Glint, or Colorgram. 5. While I love many highlighters, I find myself reaching for this one on days when I want a foolproof, sophisticated look. It's my go-to for a daily, reliable glow. 1. The longevity isn't as good as Ofra or Dior highlighters. Considering the price, it might not be the most cost-effective option. 2. While I personally love how natural it looks, I once recommended it to a friend and got an earful. Its subtlety and lower staying power make me hesitant to recommend it now. 3. The pricing can be inconsistent. I bought it when it wasn't very popular and got a good deal with Iridescent. Now, the price difference isn't as significant. Avoid buying from unauthorized sellers - a friend unfortunately got a counterfeit product. I was lucky enough to attend a one-day makeup class by a renowned makeup artist at a department store. They taught us how to use subtle highlighters like Iridescent: Instead of using it as a spot highlighter, apply it like a powder. Use a medium powder brush to gently buff it into your cheeks and forehead, as if you're filling in your pores. Then, layer a more intense highlighter like Ofra or Dior on top. I've been using this technique since, and it creates a beautifully subtle luminous skin effect. It's perfect for cooler weather. This method gives you a sophisticated glow without needing expensive pearl powders or dewy foundations. You can achieve an elegant look even with matte foundation. It's a great way to repurpose products you might not have been using much before. - ps*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsRednessRecommendedOct 8, 2024
I was really satisfied with the natural color payoff I wanted. The subtle and fine white pearls complement cool skin tones effortlessly. I didn't experience any dryness, and I loved that there was no excess powder fallout. However, if you apply this highlighter thickly in multiple layers, it can make your skin look heavy and unattractive. Also, I wouldn't recommend this to those who prefer a more noticeable highlighter effect. Gently sweep it with a brush during the powder stage to achieve that perfect 'Inner Glow' skin finish. - rd*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedSep 7, 2024
It gives a natural and luxurious glow. It feels perfect for daily use. You might wonder, 'Did I apply highlighter?' But yes, you did! When you go out wearing this, you look absolutely stunning. If you're someone who likes noticeable highlighter, this isn't for you - it's very subtle. The price... it's expensive, but I can't resist Hourglass. That's the only downside. You can purchase it much more affordably if you buy it duty-free. - gu*********Oily SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedAug 24, 2024
This product is definitely worth every penny! The powder particles are incredibly fine, and the color payoff is amazingly natural. Among beige-toned highlighters, this one feels like it's at the top of its game. It's a bit disappointing that the package exterior is reflective like a mirror. Still, it has its own charm and looks pretty nice overall. - ka******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedAug 10, 2024
I bought this highlighter while searching for something natural-looking, and it's truly subtle. If you're new to highlighters and want a natural effect, you'll be satisfied with this one. It's so incredibly natural that it almost feels like a finishing powder. However, it has some shimmer, so it's not quite suitable as a finishing powder... It's in a bit of an awkward spot.
