The fragrance is absolutely delightful and layers beautifully with other scents.
ConsWhile the mild fragrance is a plus, the longevity is truly disappointing. I'm deducting one star because of how quickly it fades.
TipDue to Hwyl's poor staying power, I personally prefer using it at home for relaxation, especially after a shower or before bed, rather than when going out. However, when I do wear it out, I've found that layering Hwyl as a base with other Aesop fragrances works wonderfully.

I'm an Aesop enthusiast who started with Tacit but switched to Hwyl. While many describe it as having a pine or woody scent, my first impression was quite intense. However, I found myself constantly drawn back to sniff it. It's a fragrance that's ever so slightly sweet yet bitter, like holding a handful of herbal medicine to your nose. It has a deep woody aroma, reminiscent of moss-covered forests and phytoncides. It's aromatic yet with a hint of bitterness - that's how I'd describe it.
ConsThe scent is extremely polarizing. It's definitely not a light fragrance. If you absolutely adore woody notes, you might love this.
TipWearing it on a rainy day is simply...wow. Layering it with Tacit creates an incredible combination. It would suit those with a calm, elegant image or a sophisticated aura perfectly.
