It melts and transforms into an oil-like consistency. Personally, I used it after showering as a substitute for cleansing oil, mainly to remove excess sebum. Nothing particularly bad to mention. I have skin of steel, so I can use various products without any issues. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 22, 2021
It removes makeup effectively! After rinsing with water, it feels like my skin has a protective coating. Since it's a balm formula, I tend to rub it on my face, which might cause a bit of irritation. However, it's not a major issue! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 26, 2020
Banila Co's cleansing products are fantastic for gently removing makeup. The Starry Night edition effortlessly melts away makeup with just a little massage. I love that it doesn't have a strong scent, and the texture is incredibly smooth - it's a winner in my book! While using cleansing balms with your fingers might raise some hygiene concerns, you can easily solve this by using a spatula. So, to be honest, I can't really find any significant drawbacks. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedMay 5, 2020
Appearance: I purchased the special edition set, so the packaging is slightly different! The product has a sorbet-like texture that gradually melts when it touches the skin. User Experience: The amount of this sorbet-type cleansing balm you use depends on how heavy your makeup is. I used quite a generous amount! I tested it by applying multiple layers of mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick on my hand... The verdict? While others seem to have great results, I'm wondering why it didn't work as well for me... I may have applied the makeup too heavily, because my hand turned red and not all the makeup came off... I scooped out some of the sorbet-like balm onto the made-up areas, massaged it in, then added a bit of water to emulsify it. When the makeup didn't come off completely, I ended up scrubbing quite hard. Still, it didn't remove everything. I'm puzzled... I really liked the feel of the sorbet-type product - it wasn't oily, and left my skin feeling fresh and hydrated. However, its cleansing effectiveness is a bit questionable. (Although I really liked this product, I probably won't repurchase it... But because I liked it, I'm still giving it a high rating...) Cleansing effectiveness...? Others seem to remove their makeup well with this, so why doesn't it work for me? Although it claims to be a combined lip and eye makeup remover, I'd recommend using a separate makeup remover before using this cleansing balm. - kp******Dry SkinRecommendedMay 1, 2020
It melts smoothly and removes makeup effectively with less product than expected. The application is incredibly gentle and non-irritating. Notably, it reduces the tight feeling after cleansing, especially for dry skin. The most inconvenient part is having to scoop it out, but that's unavoidable due to its texture. I ended up ditching the spatula and just using my fingers to scoop it out. Melt it in your hands first, then gently massage it onto your face. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedApr 19, 2020
After washing, my face feels clean and refreshed. There's no typical tightness after cleansing. Even with heavy makeup, it removes everything so well that I don't need a separate cleansing foam. I love it so much, I'll definitely repurchase when I run out! The spatula is a bit inconvenient. I think it might be more hygienic to scoop the product with your hands instead. - io******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 24, 2020
My honest review after 2 weeks of use (I've been using cleansing oils for 7 years now): Effectively removes makeup. No blemishes. No oily residue after rinsing with water. Hygienic application with the included spatula. Emulsifies well. Didn't notice any effect on dissolving blackheads or whiteheads. Slightly difficult to control the amount - tend to use more than expected. While it removes eye makeup well, eyes feel slightly cloudy after cleansing. Less convenient compared to pump-style cleansing oils - have to open, scoop, and close the lid. Claims to be non-drip, but initially, it comes out in clumps. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedMar 22, 2020
The product comes with a spatula, and it also includes a sealing cap, making it convenient and hygienic to use. The cleansing balm has a sorbet-like texture that doesn't drip. Unlike oils that can run down your face before you even start massaging, this stays put, which I found really nice. When you rub it with your hands, it melts smoothly and transforms into an oil, but not the kind that runs everywhere. It effectively removes even heavy makeup. It's great at taking off glitter and mascara, so it can handle intense looks. The cleansing effectiveness is so good that if you wear light makeup, you can remove both base and color makeup with just this balm, no need for a second cleanse. See how cleanly it removes the lip tint? Usually, cleansing oils leave a greasy film on your face, but the Banila Co cleansing balm leaves no residue and rinses off cleanly. It's even passed tests for removing fine dust, so you can use it with confidence. It's a bit disappointing that it doesn't completely remove sunscreen. If it could do that, it would be perfect. It's also pretty good for managing nose blackheads. Since it doesn't run like an oil, you can focus on rolling it over your nose to really clean the surface. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 29, 2020
My skin is super super sensitive, plus it's dry, acne-prone, and prone to redness. Finding the right product is really challenging. I used to use cleansing oils, but they would immediately make my face red and cause hives. I had to take allergy medication as a must. So, I looked for other cleansing products and decided to give this one a try, thinking 'what's the worst that could happen?' But it turned out to be amazing! It has great cleansing effectiveness and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight afterwards. I think my blackheads are gradually fading, and the skin on my nose has become smoother. I think I'll stick with this product. Highly recommended! When using the product, you have to open it with a small stick-like thing, which is a bit inconvenient. But the product is so good that I can overlook this minor issue. - qk*****Combination SkinRecommendedFeb 16, 2020
It cleanses thoroughly while keeping skin hydrated! No dryness after cleansing. I think I've found a great product since using Botanic Hill Bo. My mom and I are totally hooked on the balm type these days. The scent is really off-putting, it smells like bubble gum which I don't like. Also, it's inconvenient to have to twist the container to open it. I wish it was a one-touch opening. It removes even heavy-duty waterproof makeup effectively. It cleanses well no matter how you use it. You might feel like there's some residue after washing, but use a cleansing puff with it. It's truly a hydrating product.
