It's moisturizing with a good balance of hydration and oils, making it quite effective for keeping skin hydrated. The Water Bank line has its signature cool, refreshing scent. I like that it applies more lightly and thinly compared to a cream. It feels a bit like it's sitting on top of the skin, probably due to its rich texture. When applied to bare skin, it doesn't seem to absorb well at all. It's disappointing that it contains phenoxyethanol and sulfates. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinDec 24, 2022
Here's an honest review from a woman in her late 20s: 1. Excellent absorption and application As someone with combination skin (which changes with the seasons), I often struggle with heavy formulas. However, this product has a lightweight texture that applies smoothly, which I love. Surprisingly, it absorbs well too - it sinks into the skin without much effort. This makes it perfect for busy mornings, and I personally think it's a great lightweight essence to use before makeup in the morning rather than in the evening. 2. Gentle formula What I appreciate most is how gentle the product is. No matter your skin condition, you can see results... The formula seems to prioritize hydration over oil, giving the feeling of directly infusing moisture into the skin. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I often experience deep dryness in winter, but this product leaves my skin feeling moisturized and significantly improves that tightness. Some hydrating essences on the market have more oil than water, leaving a greasy feeling, but not this one. It stays true to its purpose, which is why I keep repurchasing it. 4. Pleasant scent The fragrance is lovely. It's not exactly a natural scent, more of an artificial cosmetic scent, but it's still pleasant. The scent itself isn't overpowering, more of a subtle soapy fragrance? Even though I'm not usually a fan of typical cosmetic scents, I find this one quite agreeable. 5. Beautiful and user-friendly packaging While I prioritize the contents over packaging, I must admit the attractive case does make using the product more enjoyable. It looks neat on my vanity too. The pump dispenser is hygienic and very convenient to use, which I really appreciate. 1. Expensive for the quantity I can't help but feel it's a bit pricey. Objectively, 70ml for $40 isn't excessive, but the formula is quite thin so you end up using more per application. Plus, apart from hydration, it doesn't offer many other benefits, which makes the price feel a bit steep... It might be best to stock up during sales. 2. Can feel dry Because it's so focused on hydration, it felt a bit light for me. It's fine in spring and summer, but in winter, my skin starts feeling dry after a while. However, this isn't a major drawback as I don't use it alone - it works well when layered with creams or oils. Using this as a first essence yields great results and maintains hydration for longer. I personally recommend using it after toner. In winter, try mixing it with jojoba oil for even better results. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinNov 13, 2022
I've been using this for a long time and haven't had any major issues. It applies thinly and feels lightweight, making it pleasant to use. The hydration power is a bit weak, so it feels dry during winter. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinAug 30, 2022
I loved how lightweight it was to apply. While many comments mention an artificial scent, I personally found the cool fragrance quite pleasant. There's not really anything disappointing about it. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that due to its light texture, you might need to use another essence in winter... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinJul 23, 2022
It's a super lightweight hydrating essence, almost like a toner! The generous size makes it perfect for liberally applying to both face and neck. I love that it doesn't pill when combined with any cream. I used it refreshingly well during summer, and the scent is delightfully invigorating. The only downside might be the lack of functional effects like whitening or wrinkle improvement... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 8, 2022
I happened to receive a sample and tried it out. It didn't cause any blemishes, absorbed lightly into my skin, and had a pleasant scent, so I decided to purchase the full-size product! With the winter season, my skin is experiencing deep dryness, and this product doesn't seem to completely address that issue. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinOct 27, 2021
I trust and use Laneige products consistently. This one feels so refreshing, making it perfect for lightweight application. Since it's so light, don't use it alone. Make sure to apply a cream as well. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinOct 19, 2021
It's lightweight when it dries and feels comfortable on the skin. Perfect for summer use. This product is useless in dry weather. The moment you apply it to your face, it just feels like water. Let's use this only in summer. It's absolutely fantastic for those who dislike sticky products. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 2, 2021
• Texture: It has a slightly runny consistency, similar to a cream skin toner. • Application: It absorbs lightly and, most importantly, isn't sticky at all. • Absorption: Due to its lightweight feel, it absorbs well! The finish feels moisturizing, as if there's a slight richness to it. (*Compared to the Hydro Essence - The finish felt very fresh and completely absorbed) • Hydration: While it's hard to expect perfect hydration from an essence alone, I think it provides adequate moisture! (*Compared to the Hydro Essence - It had more of a watery feel, so it was difficult to expect intense hydration) - It seems like it would be good for everyday use, and especially nice for summer when you want something lightweight. - While the scent is pleasant, it's a bit strong, which is disappointing. - Honestly, when comparing it to the Hydro Essence, I didn't notice a huge difference with the Moisture version. However, if you have dry skin and are looking for more hydration, I'd recommend the Moisture Essence. If you prefer something very light and super fresh, go for the Hydro version! - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 8, 2021
A refreshing finish with a lightweight yet hydrating essence! I've been using this product for years and still love it! I understand that the Hydro Essence is targeted for combination-oily skin, while the Moisture Essence is for dry skin. However, after trying both products, I can't really tell much difference between them. As someone with slightly dry skin, I need to supplement and protect my skin with an additional moisturizer during winter and spring!
