  Pros

  It absorbs well and feels great on the skin. The finish is refreshing. As I've gotten older, my combination dehydrated skin has become extremely dry, but this product doesn't seem to suit me.

  Cons

  I thought it would be fine, but it caused red, itchy blemishes. I had to stop using it after just three days. While it feels moisturizing right after application, it becomes increasingly drying over time. Those with super sensitive skin like mine should be cautious. The hydration seems to evaporate quickly, leaving the skin feeling less than moisturized.

  This essence is packed with hydration, yet feels lightweight and not heavy on the skin. After application, there's only a slight hint of richness, so it doesn't leave you looking greasy. Even though I have very dry, sensitive, and thin skin, I love this product! I usually prefer layering lighter essences 2-3 times instead of using a single layer of a richer one, as that can sometimes cause blemishes. This essence is perfect for multiple applications. The pump dispenser is smooth and allows for easy control of the amount. It's such a versatile product that anyone without specific allergies, especially those with dry to normal skin, could use it comfortably year-round!

  Cons

  Considering how versatile it is, the price point seems a bit high. While I received this as a gift, the cost would be the one drawback I'd mention if recommending it. Also, if I use this alone without a moisturizer, I sometimes feel a slight itching sensation, possibly due to my peach fuzz (though this is just my personal experience).

  While it works well with various creams due to its versatility, I've found it pairs exceptionally well with richer creams from the same line as Laneige.

  Here's my review as one of The Hwahae Testers: First off, I love the sky blue packaging - it's absolutely gorgeous and gets full marks from me. The 70ml size is quite generous. After using it morning and evening for two weeks, pumping 4 times each session, I've only used a small amount. The pump is smooth and dispenses just the right amount, making it easy to control. Unlike the previous version which contained ethanol and had a gel texture, this one is alcohol-free with a slightly milky essence-like consistency. It definitely absorbs into the skin well without evaporating immediately. They advertise it as a 'moisture lock', and I found it had slightly better staying power than watery essences. My skin tends to break out unless I focus on hydration in my skincare routine, and since using this, my skin has been well-hydrated and my texture has improved. I apply it first to my cheeks where I need hydration most, then use what's left on oilier areas like my nose and around my mouth.

  Cons

  The glass container makes it a bit heavy. It might be tricky to open the lid with slippery hands. When I first used the product, my skin was extremely dehydrated and I hadn't used an essence in a while, so it caused some itching. This lasted for 2-3 days before disappearing. The texture is slightly slippery, but in an unusual way - it doesn't feel oily. This might be more of a concern for those with sensitive skin rather than a downside. Lastly, there's a scent that I found quite overwhelming... It took me over a week to get used to it. I'm deducting points for the fragrance. However, my boyfriend couldn't smell anything at all, so it seems to vary from person to person.

  Tip

  For those with very oily skin, applying the essence twice might work well. If you have combination dehydrated skin, you might need to follow the essence with a gel cream to maintain hydration. For dry skin types, make sure to follow up with a rich, nourishing cream!

  Since the reformulation, it seems like they've added an ingredient that doesn't agree with my skin. When I apply it, my skin gets itchy and blemishes appear.

  This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. It's a product with great oil and moisture balance. Don't be fooled by the term 'hydrating essence' - it's not just about hydration. When you apply it, it feels very moisturizing, but after absorption, there's a slight feeling of an oily coating. It's light, but not too light. I think it would be perfect for those like me who have combination dehydrated skin and have suddenly lost oil production in their 30s.

  On a day when my skin felt a bit dry, I applied less toner and used this for a 4-layer application. My face became irritated as a result. This tends to happen when I apply products with excessive oil or nourishing ingredients, and this serum definitely leans towards the oilier side. My skin doesn't usually react this way... Anyway, I found it worked better when I adjusted the amount I used. While it's a decent product with no major drawbacks, if I had to point out some areas for improvement, I'd mention the value for money and the fragrance. It doesn't seem to stand out significantly from similar products on the market, yet it feels a bit pricey, perhaps due to the brand name. The regular price is $40, even though it does come in a large size. Also, the fragrance is quite strong - that signature Laneige scent. It's not unpleasant, but those used to fragrance-free products might find it a bit overwhelming.

  Tip

  For those with oily skin, the finish might feel a bit heavy, so I recommend applying a thin layer and patting it in, or using it after an exfoliating toner while the face is still damp. For those with dry skin, try using this in a '7-skin method' style, applying 2-3 layers like you would with toner. Even though I have combination dehydrated skin, I've been doing 2 layers of toner followed by 2 layers of this serum, and it's greatly improved my deep dryness.
