It gives a feeling of smoother skin texture! There's a sense of hydration or moisturization that's like applying honey to your face. The scent is too much like typical cosmetics, and the ingredients are more disappointing than expected. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 1, 2020
The photos show the front, back, and appearance after shaking just before use, in that order! This is a review from The Hwahae Testers! It's my second time being selected, but I've been too busy to write a review until now... This review is from a man in his 20s with oily skin. Let me start with the advantages: 1. It absorbs well! Due to its thin consistency, it's easy to apply and makes a great base. It also absorbs quickly - just pat it in and it sinks right into the skin! 2. It has a pump dispenser This is what I really loved about it. Unlike products that you have to scoop out with your hands or use a dropper, this pump format is convenient for everyone, whether you're used to applying with your hands or a dropper. The hygienic aspect is a bonus! 3. It mixes fairly easily When you look at the product, you'll see it's separated into oil and something else at the bottom. At first, I was worried I'd have to shake it vigorously before each use. But it actually mixes well with just a bit of shaking! It's not really inconvenient at all. I'll update my review with more usage feedback after I've used it for a longer period. 1. The smell is just too... It's overwhelming. Honestly, I'm not usually sensitive to cosmetic scents, but this one is really intense. Despite any other drawbacks, I don't think I can continue using it because of the smell... It's like a cosmetic scent mixed with something else. It's hard to describe, but I found it quite unpleasant. 2. Ingredients It seems to contain some potentially allergenic ingredients. My skin isn't particularly sensitive, so I was fine, but if you're considering buying this, please check the ingredient list carefully. 3. Price I think it's a bit expensive for the amount you get. Students might find it a bit pricey... 4. Consistency It's too thin. I think it's the thinnest serum I've ever used. It seems even thinner than the toner I'm currently using, which makes it difficult to apply. Of course, this might vary from person to person, so it's best to judge for yourself... but I found it too watery. 5. Eye irritation Even when I try to be careful applying it around my eyes, some kind of vapor seems to rise up and makes my eyes sting. People with sensitive eyes should be cautious when using this. + I'm not sure if it's just me, but... my makeup that used to apply well doesn't seem to go on as smoothly since I started using this serum. No matter how much I pat it in, it doesn't seem to absorb well. It feels like it's creating a barrier. I'm not sure if it's because it doesn't match with some of my other cosmetics, but keep this in mind. While it might work well for some people, it really didn't suit me, so I can't give it a good rating. Hmm... Since the product is very thin and easy to apply, it might work well layered over a sheet mask! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMar 30, 2020
Here's my review after using it for 10 days from March 20th to 30th. As it's a serum, I plan to keep observing its effects over a longer period and update my review accordingly. Texture: Unlike many serums or ampoules that have a thicker, mucus-like consistency, the Missha Royal Serum has a relatively thin, easily flowing texture as shown in the photo. Moisturizing power: To test its hydration, I applied only the serum after an exfoliating toner before bed. Wow! My skin felt so firm and supple! No tightness at all! Despite my very dry skin, there was no pulling sensation, and my skin texture was smooth. The next day, when I applied emulsion and cream as well, my face absorbed everything well without feeling heavy or greasy. It felt so plump and hydrated. Highly recommended! Absorption: When I gently patted it in to ensure thorough absorption, I felt like it was really giving my skin a firm, elastic feel. After using it for a few nights, I didn't notice any oily stains on my pillow, which suggests it was well-absorbed into my skin. I'm very satisfied with its absorption as well. Scent: Personally, I don't like skincare products with strong fragrances. Missha seems to have its own distinctive scent. While it's subtle, it reminds me of the smell of my mom's cosmetics when I was young. I've listed this as a downside because I think it could be a love-it-or-hate-it factor for some people. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMar 27, 2020
ღ The Hwahae Testers review ღ ✿ Skin Type and Condition ✿ My skin type is combination, with more sebum production in the T-zone compared to other areas. Since last year, when my skin had a major breakout, I've been consistently dealing with one or two blemishes popping up, which has been a concern. Before receiving the Missha Regenerating Royal Serum, my main worry was that no matter what I applied during my night care routine, I couldn't seem to address the deep dryness. ✿ Skincare Routine ✿ After cleansing, I layer toner or mist 3-5 times > hydrating ampoule > Missha Regenerating Royal Serum > moisturizing cream ✿ Design ✿ The packaging is sophisticated while maintaining Missha's image. It feels like using a high-end brand's product, which lifts my mood every time I look at it! ✿ Balanced Oil and Moisture ✿ The biggest advantage I've noticed is that it addresses deep dryness! Despite using mostly hydrating products in my skincare routine, I had been experiencing severe dehydration recently. With this product, I felt like it was locking in moisture, and my skin's hydration and elasticity improved! + The difference between days when I use it and don't use it is very noticeable!! When I followed my usual skincare routine without this serum, my skin felt dry and less elastic the next day. Since realizing this, I make sure to apply the Regenerating Royal Serum without fail. ✿ Texture ✿ I was worried that the serum might be heavy or cause blemishes due to the oil layer, but the consistency is just right - slightly more fluid than a snot-like texture, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm very satisfied with it! ✿ Scent ✿ In my case, I'm not particularly sensitive to cosmetic fragrances, so I continued using it. However, it has a somewhat indescribable scent that reminds me of my mother's cosmetics mixed with a herbal aroma! ✿ Layers ✿ The most distinctive feature of this product is undoubtedly its two separate layers. Since products with separate layers aren't common, I sometimes forgot to shake it before use. Even after shaking and pumping onto my hand, the layers weren't completely mixed, with the oil layer floating on top of the water layer. I had to mix it again before applying. It's not exactly a drawback, just a slight inconvenience! ✿ Value for Money ✿ While the design and functionality are great, it's hard to separate Missha from its image as an affordable road shop brand. I might think 'Is it really worth it?' considering the price. That aspect is a bit disappointing. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMar 27, 2020
* To see maximum results, I stopped using my usual serum for 2 weeks and tried this one * I applied it generously twice a day, morning and evening. (Since I got it as a Hwahae Tester :)) Since it's difficult to notice immediate effects from firming and brightening products in a short period, I focused on evaluating its hydration. - There were no major issues like blemishes. - If you already had smooth skin, after using this it feels plump and silky, almost as if you've exfoliated. That's when I thought, 'Maybe this is working...!' - I checked my eye wrinkles while smiling to myself. Right after applying, they seemed slightly reduced... (subjective opinion) - As someone with dry skin who enjoys using sticky, rich products overnight, I found the texture suitable. (I might hesitate to recommend it for oily skin types) - Given how dry the weather has been lately, I'd say the hydration level is decent. No dramatic effects, though. - It has a strong Dove soap scent. - At this price point, I wouldn't repurchase... - Remember, moderation is key... Apply an appropriate amount. - Not recommended for those who prefer quick-absorbing or lightweight serums. - I suspect using the entire line together might yield even better synergistic effects! - The sleek packaging and overall sophisticated feel make it a nice gift option. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinMar 27, 2020
Here's my review as one of The Hwahae Testers: First off, I was impressed by how luxurious it looked right away. Missha has always done a great job making their products appear high-end. While the contents are what really matter, I appreciate that they put thought into the design as well. Before use, you need to shake the product well to mix the separated oil layer with the contents. The serum has a slightly thick consistency, so you really need to give it a good shake! I love that it comes in a pump bottle - it's clean and hygienic. I was a bit worried that the oil-infused formula might feel heavy or greasy, but surprisingly, it applies lightly and absorbs quickly! My routine was to use this serum after cleansing and toning. In the morning, I followed up with a light moisturizer, and in the evening, I used a more hydrating cream. My T-zone tends to be oily while my U-zone is dry. Using this product, I didn't feel any uncomfortable greasiness, nor did I experience any dryness. To be honest, it wasn't a 'wow, this is amazing!' product, but it wasn't disappointing either. It just worked well. Since I've used it for less than two weeks, I haven't noticed any dramatic skin improvements yet. It probably takes at least a month or two to see real results. The bottle is quite generous, so it should last a while. I'll update if I notice any particularly good or not-so-good points as I continue using it! Looking at the ingredients list, I was a bit concerned about potential allergic reactions, but thankfully I didn't experience any blemishes or irritation. While there weren't any major downsides to this product, if I had to mention one thing, it would be the scent. It has a strong fragrance that reminds me of old-fashioned cosmetics. If you're sensitive to fragrances, I'd recommend trying a tester first! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMar 27, 2020
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. For the most objective assessment, I used this product in my nighttime routine for 10 days before writing this review. The perfect balance of hydration and oil for the changing seasons. One of the product's key features is its separate oil and water layers, which need to be shaken before application. While I knew most serums and essences contain both oil and water, with their texture varying based on the ratio, this product truly stands out for its well-balanced formulation. During seasonal transitions, my skin fluctuates between oily and dry, becoming quite sensitive (even using a cotton pad to apply toner can cause irritation, redness, and flushing). This product provides just the right amount of oil, not only offering basic firming and brightening effects but also maintaining an excellent oil and moisture balance. It didn't cause any additional blemishes either. Ideal weight and effectiveness for 30-somethings new to anti-aging skincare. After ten days of use, while I didn't see dramatic results, I noticed my skin looked slightly brighter and my pores seemed a bit smaller when I woke up after applying this product followed by a cream. Although I use different products in my morning routine, so I can't attribute the effects solely to this product... As we know, anti-aging, firming, and brightening effects often take more than a few days or weeks to show, and are more about prevention, right? Entering my 30s, I started worrying about wrinkles and loss of elasticity, wanting to take preventive measures. This product's texture is less heavy than traditional anti-aging products (especially creams), and I was mentally satisfied with being able to address anti-aging concerns at the serum level. For those curious about the weight, compared to Missha's famous Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule, this one is lighter and less sticky. It's naturally a bit heavier than purely hydrating, soothing ampoule serums. Clean and user-friendly transparent pump bottle. The clear container not only shows how much product is left but also allows you to see the separate layers that need to be mixed before use. I appreciated this feature. Compared to dropper bottles, which can sometimes struggle to draw up product and risk introducing dust or impurities when inserting and removing the dropper, I found this pump bottle very satisfactory. Strong scent reminiscent of 'mom's cosmetics'. Perhaps because I've just entered my 30s, I'm not used to this kind of fragrance in skincare products. It has that typical anti-aging functional cosmetic smell, which lingers even after application. I did get used to it after a few days, but... Given that many modern skincare products are fragrance-free and colorless, and there's really no need for a strong scent at the serum/essence stage, I found this aspect disappointing. Overly dated design. While the bottle's functionality is fine compared to other Missha products like the Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule, the aesthetic design falls short. Especially since this product needs to be shaken before use, a fully transparent body would be better to showcase the mixing effect (like Dalba's oil mist). The current design is ambiguous, making the product name hard to read and giving an outdated impression. Since even those of us in our 30s are interested in such anti-aging products, please make it more visually appealing. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMar 27, 2020
The Hwahae Testers Review My skin type is combination, with an oily T-zone, normal to dry U-zone, and a butterfly zone with enlarged pores and significant texture issues. Texture: Among Missha's Cho Gong Jin line, there's a lightweight face oil called Yeongan Oil (which I highly recommend!). This serum feels like that oil mixed with a thick essence. Advantages: It's a bit heavier than my beloved purple bottle essence, so the hydration lasts longer. I haven't experienced the effects of Borpirin, Missha's ambitious anti-aging ingredient, due to the short usage period, but I believe consistent long-term use could yield results. As mentioned, my skin is combination, but during seasonal changes, my oil-moisture balance gets disrupted. I experience deep dryness with excessive oil production, resulting in severely dehydrated oily skin. Plus, the natural aging process seems to accelerate threefold during these transitions. This serum is great because it contains both oil and serum layers to address hydration and firmness simultaneously. Just shake well and apply - it's that simple! Gently massaging it in helps with quick absorption. After a few days of use, I noticed a significant reduction in deep dryness, indicating improved oil-moisture balance. With consistent use, I expect it will help slow down the aging process that concerns me most. Lastly, it's a personal preference, but I dislike plastic bottles. I absolutely love the glass packaging! Special Care Massage: Once a week, after exfoliating at night, apply a generous amount of Royal Serum. Take time to massage it in, allow it to absorb fully, and the next morning, rinse with water only (no cleanser). You'll notice your skin feels as soft as rose petals. It has a mild soap scent mixed with floral notes, but I'd prefer a different or subtler fragrance. It reminds me of my mother's cosmetics from my childhood. Although I'm around that age now, I'm not fond of the dated feel. On the third day of use, I developed small bumps on my T-zone, suggesting that careful control of the amount used is necessary. Because it contains oil, applying too much can lead to the product sitting on top of the skin and potentially causing blemishes. This product is best suited for nighttime care or used sparingly before makeup. When applied before makeup, it can cause darkening and quick breakdown of the makeup. This isn't exactly a pro tip, but it's crucial and often overlooked. Since the oil and essence layers are separate, it's important to shake the bottle vigorously before each use to ensure the layers are well mixed. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMar 27, 2020
I'm in my mid-20s with dry skin that's prone to developing small bumps if I neglect care. This product seems more suitable for ages above 20, so I used it with my mom who's in her 50s and loves ultra-rich products. I only used it at night. Some reviews mentioned it was very sticky, but I found that pressing it firmly into my skin with my palms helped it absorb well, leaving a decent finish. It makes a slight squelching sound when you press and pat it in. Following up with a cream eliminated any residual stickiness. (Still, I'd be hesitant to use it before makeup) It gives an immediate glow, so it should work well for those who lack natural oils or enjoy using facial oils. Even my mom, who usually feels like my regular hydrating serums do nothing, has been using this consistently! When I asked her about it, she said she loves how the glow makes her skin look healthier. Initially, it's quite difficult to mix the oil layer, probably due to lack of space in the bottle. You need to shake it vigorously. The scent reminds me of old-fashioned cosmetics, like Mise en Scene hair essence, which I found a bit off-putting. After using it for a few consecutive days, my T-zone pores got clogged, so I switched to using a smaller amount only at night. I've been extra cautious lately as I've been getting unusual blemishes from wearing masks... You need to be careful depending on your skin type. I think it might have been better received if launched in winter. The oily texture also means the product lid easily gets covered in fingerprints, which is a bit disappointing. I'd recommend this to those looking to add richness and nourishment, rather than addressing deep dryness or creating a protective layer. It seems most suitable for those 40-50 and above. Be careful not to use too much as it can be hard to absorb - just pump out a small amount and press it into your skin with your warm palms for the best absorption! - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAtopy SkinMar 26, 2020
※This is a review from The Hwahae Testers※ 1. Absorption - As shown in the attached photo, the oil layer is separated, so it's a product that needs to be shaken well before use. Because of this, I initially thought it might feel a bit greasy or have poor absorption, but surprisingly, it has a thin texture and absorbs well. I appreciated that I didn't have to make an effort to spread it thinly or work it into the skin. It seems fine to apply an extra layer on areas that feel particularly dry. 1. Fragrance - The fragrance seems to be this product's biggest drawback. It has what people often call a 'mom's cosmetics' scent. It's almost like a 'grandma's cosmetics' scent... I prefer skincare products to be unscented or have a light fruity scent, so it's disappointing that this has a base makeup kind of fragrance. 2. Difficult to use before makeup - While my T-zone and chin area are combination dehydrated skin, my eye area and cheeks are extremely dry. I usually use hydrating essences or moisturizers before makeup, but because this product feels a bit rich, it doesn't quite work for me before makeup or in the morning. It's disappointing that it can cause makeup to pill, break down over time, or make the skin look oily. 3. Price - Compared to other road shop brands or other Missha product lines, this one is on the pricier side. It seems better suited for use in the evening before bed or when you're not planning on being very active, rather than in the morning or before applying makeup.
