(Skin type: dry/sensitive + thin skin with redness) (Occasionally suffer from folliculitis due to stress and weakened immunity) To sum it up, This is one of the few reviews on Hwahae that I gave a full 5-star rating ✨ + Fragrance: The most common talk about tamanu oil is its fragrance, and there are quite a few expressions that make you want to plug your nose just by reading them; This was my first experience with tamanu oil, and it was the Rangbio oil from Rangbell that made me a huge fan of tamanu oil :) I absolutely loved the fragrance! 👍🏻 I recently also tried the tamanu oil from Dr. Olga, but even though it's also tamanu oil, the fragrance was quite different, likely due to the blending. The long introduction was to say that I can describe the fragrance of the Rangbell tamanu oil as similar to the herb 'angelica' among Korean herbs and greens. If you're worried about the fragrance, you can try smelling angelica at the grocery store to get a sense of it beforehand. + Great for hydration, also good for troubled skin: During the dry winter when I didn't have any breakouts, I would mix a few drops of the Rangbio oil into the Estrala 365 cream as the final step, and it was incredibly helpful for maintaining skin hydration and balance. My uneven skin tone became more even, and my skin would feel deeply hydrated even after waking up. It felt like my skin was becoming healthier. Personally, I liked using the oil on its own, but I found it worked even better when mixed into a cream. Then in the spring, I struggled with folliculitis (caused by mask-wearing, stress, and weakened immunity) on my chin area. This was the only oil I could use even with the skin troubles, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It didn't worsen the breakouts, but it also didn't have a significant calming effect. In summary, this is an oil with a nice medium density that is really helpful for skin hydration and skin barrier, and can even be used on troubled skin.
ConsTwo minor downsides, though they are quite insignificant compared to how much I enjoyed the product ^^ - Due to the anti-inflammatory ingredients, it stings a lot if it gets in your eyes: I didn't notice this when using the dropper, but when I mixed it into a mist and sprayed it, I experienced this. +_+ Be very careful, as even a little bit getting in your eyes will sting a lot. - Crystalline particles form, and even as the weather warms up, the crystals that have already formed on the inside of the bottle don't melt even when shaken. Fortunately, they don't come out through the dropper, but it was a bit disappointing that I couldn't use it as cleanly.
TipThe brand's website stated that this product can be used both day and night, but from searching online, I've seen mentions that tamanu oil isn't completely non-photosensitizing, but rather has a lower level of photosensitivity, so it's generally recommended to use it at night. (I'm also curious to know the definitive facts on this 🤔) I've used this generously during the day as well, and didn't experience any particular issues. This isn't a pro tip, but just a note that may be helpful for anyone who is concerned about this aspect.

It's great for calming down when you have trouble or bumps and your skin is sensitive. *The ingredients are good. It's rare to find 90% unrefined tamanu oil! *This is an all-in-one oil that covers soothing, moisturizing, and nourishing. It's a multi-functional oil blended with tamanu oil, jojoba seed oil, and lavender oil.
Cons*Smell The tamanu oil barrier is a bit... Since tamanu oil is included, the scent can be a bit irritating. *Be careful around the eyes Be careful when applying around the eye area. (My eyes are sensitive and I have dry eyes. When sunscreen gets in, it really stings my eyes.) I often rub my eyes, and if the oil gets in, it's incredibly irritating and painful. Be careful! *Oil - Transferring Being an oil, it does transfer a bit... I sleep restlessly, so my pillowcase gets attacked, and it doesn't even dry properly, so I put a handkerchief down to sleep on.
Tip*Avoid the eye area! Be very careful not to get it in your eyes *Warm the oil by rubbing it between your hands for 10 seconds before applying ->Then thoroughly rub the remaining oil into your hands *Apply an extra layer to trouble spots *It turns me into an ugly duckling. Haha When I apply this, the green oil makes my face look even more yellow. I can't go out of the house. Apply it before bedtime!

It absorbed well into the tips of my hair without weighing it down.
ConsIt didn't work for me ㅠㅠ I thought the natural oil ingredients would be good for my skin, but after using it on my face for about a week, it started to get increasingly red... My cheeks also felt stinging every time I applied it, so I had to stop using it. It took a long time for my skin to calm down and return to its original state ㅠㅠ If you have sensitive skin, I recommend checking if tamanu oil works for you before using it. In my case, it had the opposite effect when I used it on my face, so I tried applying it to my legs instead. After using it on my calves for a couple of days, red bumps like hives appeared. It's better to try it on your body first before your face! Even though I paid a decent price for it, I'm now just mixing it into a hair product that doesn't touch my face.
TipThese days, I have to apply a curling essence and hair serum since I've gotten a perm. By mixing this product into the curling essence, it helps with the oil coating and makes the effect last longer~

After using it for a week, I can definitely see the effects. I personally find the scent quite pleasant.
ConsI carelessly rubbed my eyes and it stung so much ㅜㅜ You should never apply it around the eyes.
TipMixing the moisturizer and using them in a 1:1 ratio helps reduce the tightness! I also add a few drops to my toner and mist it on whenever my skin feels tight.

You can visibly see your skin calming down. It's truly amazing how the blemishes visibly diminish the next day. Tamanu oil was more effective for me than products containing madecassoside, centella, tea tree oil, and the like. That doesn't mean those products are ineffective, though. ✔The moisturizing power is just right. It's not overly oily, which is great. It has a medium level of moisturizing power among oil-based products. So it's good to apply it directly on problem areas or mix it with other products. ✔In the cream step, I mix 1-2 drops of Laneige Laneige Bio-Barrier Oil and Mamonde Moisture Ceramide Intense Cream. The combination works really well.
Cons✔The high price is definitely a major hurdle. ✔For a product costing 65,000 won, the bottle design feels a bit cheap. ✔There is a distinct Tamanu oil scent. While I got used to it quickly, the scent doesn't dissipate quickly. So people sensitive to fragrances may find it bothersome. 👉Additional note 3 months later: A few months ago, my skin suddenly became dry and sensitive. Whenever I used this oil, my skin would feel irritated, itchy, and problematic again. I tried it a few times but ended up not using it anymore. This product was amazing when my skin was healthy, but it became the worst for me after my skin became sensitive. Whether I apply it directly or mix it, my skin just gets irritated.
TipDon't be stingy and use it within 3-6 months of opening.

Spreadability Due to my dry skin, I've tried many oils. Among them, the Rangbio oil feels the thickest and heaviest. 2. Absorption Since I have extremely dry and sensitive skin, I use it in the last step of my morning and evening skincare routines these days. I was worried at first that it wouldn't absorb well, but it seems to protect the skin barrier and prevent moisture from evaporating. 3. Moisturizing Power The moisturizing power is quite good. I use it as the last step in my morning and evening routines, and it works well on my dry body after showering too. It prevents flakiness and dandruff in the winter. I can even lightly mix it into my damp hair without it making it greasy. 4. Skin Type I have extremely sensitive skin that is prone to dryness and occasional eczema-related itchiness. The dry winter is the worst for me. 5. Volume and Price This is the most disappointing part - the price is too high for the volume. 65,000 won for 30g is quite expensive, especially if I use it on my face, body, and hair. Overall, as someone with extremely dry and sensitive skin, I didn't experience any irritation due to the natural ingredients. However, if your skin is less dry than mine, I would highly recommend this oil. I personally end up using a lot of it, especially at night, and even mixing it with my foundation in the morning. This oil is sensitive to temperature, becoming hard in the cold and soft at room temperature, but that's normal for a natural product.
ConsThree disappointing aspects: 1. Stinging and Irritation You must be extremely careful to not get this oil anywhere near your eyes, as it can cause a stinging and burning sensation. 2. Fragrance I've tried argan oil and camellia oil before, but the Rangbio oil has an herbal, medicinal-like fragrance that I couldn't stand using on my body, as the scent kept lingering. 3. Price to Volume Ratio This is the most important factor. Unless you have a generous budget, I would recommend looking for a more affordable, yet high-quality oil option. The price feels a bit steep for the amount you get.
TipFor those with dry skin like mine, it's really great to mix this oil with your foundation, BB cream, or powder in the morning. It doesn't make the makeup feel greasy, but instead adds a subtle glow without any tightness. It leaves the skin feeling nicely moisturized.

However, after using another product (containing only unrefined tamanu oil), I found that the scent is unique to tamanu. Those who don't like this scent may want to reconsider using tamanu oil. The unrefined tamanu oil has a stronger scent, while this product has a blended scent due to the addition of other ingredients. However, the tamanu scent is still prominent and not overpowered. I had taken photos on the first day, but I didn't upload them as the lighting was different. From the first day, I didn't apply any other essences, serums, or creams besides the lotion. My skin condition had hormonal breakouts, and before using the oil, my skin had a dried, membrane-like layer from the essences and creams I had been using. After applying the oil on the first day, this layer started peeling off, as you can see in the photos. The more I used it, the more this layer continued to peel off, which you'll be able to see by the end of the week. After a week, my face seemed a bit dehydrated, so I started adding a cream as well. I found the oil to be more effective when applied to the body rather than the face. It had a soothing effect on irritated or reddened areas. As for any scars or blemishes, I'll need to observe them over a longer period.
ConsFirst, when applied around the eyes, it stings. I avoided the eye area, but if I accidentally touch the eye area during massage, it causes my eyes to tear up. Please be cautious. (This seems to be a characteristic of tamanu oil.) Secondly, I found the oil alone to be insufficient for hydration. So I started applying the oil over a cream, which seemed to help maintain moisture for longer. Thirdly, this is the first time I've received an oil in the winter, and I'm experiencing the oil solidifying for the first time. Even though the room temperature is 26°C, the solidified oil has settled at the bottom after 2 weeks. The dropper is picking up the solidified parts along with the liquid, so I've been gently massaging it to make it disappear. It seems to be disappearing soon.

My skin was relatively good to begin with, but I developed an allergic skin condition (redness, hives, and oozing) and anything I applied would sting and itch. However, using the Rangbio oil has actually made my skin feel more balanced than before. Now I only do minimal makeup, just on my lips, eyebrows, and eyes. (The photos don't show full makeup coverage.)
ConsSince it's an oil product, it's best to avoid the eye area - it stings when it gets there. I apply a drop or two all over before bed, except around the eyes.
TipAvoid the eye area and apply it. I highly recommend this for skin troubles.
