I decided to purchase this product after trying a sample. Here's my review after about a month of use, comparing it to the sample: 1. No skin redness. I was wary of retinol after an ampoule made my skin red, but this product uses 'retinal' instead of 'retinol', which piqued my interest. The sample didn't cause much irritation or redness, so I took the plunge and bought the full-size. It also didn't irritate my skin. ▶️ The full-size product felt even gentler than the sample. ⚠️ (Note) Retinal and retinol are similar but different. 2. Improved elasticity and nasolabial folds When I used the sample on my nasolabial folds, I felt an immediate lifting effect the next day. It was like the skin in that area had been ironed smooth. This was the first time I really felt the effects of a retinol-type ingredient. The instant results were my biggest motivation for purchasing. 3. Reduction in fine lines By applying it consistently every other day or every third day, I noticed my fine lines seemed to fade. Comparing with the sample: 1. Was the sample better? (Not sure if it's been reformulated. See photo🔥) 🚫First, the product image on the sample differs from my full-size bottle. 🚫Usage instructions have changed. The every-other-day use recommendation is gone(??) ◇Correction◇ Cynic's official retailers still recommend using it every other day. It's just not written on the product itself.(?) <Conclusion> It might just be me, but the sample seemed more effective. This could be because it was my first time using it, so my skin may have responded more noticeably. 2. Skin turning yellow. After washing my face with water in the morning and applying toner, I noticed yellow residue on the cotton pad (I had applied the product the night before). I was worried about staining, but thankfully there was no discoloration after applying sunscreen. 3. Caution with 'Retinal' use (for sensitive skin)⚠️⚠️ I read that retinal is stronger than retinol, with 10 to 20 times more potency. This means retinal can be more irritating than retinol. Those with sensitive skin should be cautious. If you receive a sample, try it first and double-check if the ingredients work for you. <Tips for sensitive skin> 1. Use at night. 2. Always apply sunscreen the next morning. 3. For sensitive skin, using every other day is recommended rather than daily use. It's best to use alongside soothing ampoules and creams. - po*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJun 10, 2025
It absorbs really well! I was a bit worried that the retinal cream might be too harsh, but it turned out to be gentler and milder than I expected. It seems to be slightly on the richer side, so if you have very oily skin, you might want to avoid it or use just a small amount. The cream has a slight greenish fluorescent color, so be careful as it might leave green marks on white pillowcases. While I said it's mild, everyone's skin is different, so it's best to start with a small amount and see if there's no irritation before using it regularly. And remember, always use it at night! - en******Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 5, 2025
It absorbs well without causing much irritation. You can use it as a substitute for night cream before bed. I'm not sure about its effectiveness. There was a slight irritation at the beginning of use, but I haven't noticed any significant results yet. - gp*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 17, 2024
Unlike other retinol products that caused severe breakouts and side effects, this one doesn't. It has the same retinol content but is much more affordable compared to other brands! Also, when applied as a spot treatment, it absorbs incredibly fast. Nothing in particular! It's excellent in terms of price, ingredients, absorption, and how it applies to the skin. - au********Dry SkinAcne SkinOct 10, 2024
I'm satisfied with the rich, bouncy texture. It's my first time trying it, and I hope my skin improves. The volume is a bit lacking, so it's somewhat disappointing considering the price. I wish the size was a bit larger. - th*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRecommendedJul 24, 2024
The price is reasonable and my skin texture has improved. I apply it diligently every evening! It absorbs well and feels gentle on the skin. I don't have any complaints, except that when I apply it, my face turns slightly yellow... like jaundice? - dl********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedJul 22, 2024
It's gentle and not too harsh on the skin. I bought it after seeing a YouTuber's recommendation. Even though the amount is small, using it sparingly means it lasts longer than expected. Hmm... I can't really feel any specific effects. It seems pretty average. At least it doesn't cause any blemishes when applied. - dk*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 7, 2024
It's gentle enough to care for your skin without irritation. Even with sensitive skin, I found that gradually increasing the amount used allows for sufficient control. Start with small amounts at first. The scent isn't particularly fragrant, but that's not an issue at all. - he*******Oily SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedJul 6, 2024
When I applied this at night before bed, my skin felt noticeably softer the next morning. It kept my skin smooth without needing separate exfoliation, which was actually more comfortable as it avoided physical irritation. I'd recommend this to anyone who responds well to retinol-based products. The texture isn't as light as you might expect, so if you really dislike any hint of oiliness, you might find it a bit uncomfortable. I personally found myself using it less often once winter passed. - lj*****Combination SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJul 1, 2024
I've only applied it about five times at night so far. It has a slightly thick texture. As someone with dry and sensitive skin, I haven't experienced any major issues. The scent is more unique than I expected. But since it's not a product you use for the fragrance, it's generally okay. It seems best to apply retinal and retinol only at night and wash it off in the morning. Also, I wouldn't recommend using it after microneedling. Using it after microneedling can be quite irritating, as the microneedling itself is already quite intense.
