I've found it's better to apply multiple thin layers rather than one thick layer.
ConsOn days when my skin is super sensitive, it can feel a bit tingly or cause a burning sensation around the upper lip area!! Be careful!! Also... the scent is somewhat artificial, which is a bit disappointing, but not unbearable.
TipApply multiple thin layers! Focus on areas with blemishes or where you're concerned about pores!

You can visibly see the improvement in your skin the next day!
ConsThe scent is a bit artificial, which was slightly disappointing. Also, if you have super sensitive skin, it might cause irritation on days when your skin is feeling particularly delicate!
TipI recommend applying a light toner to your face, waiting for it to absorb, then using this product followed by a generous layer of hydrating moisturizer!

I was worried about using retinol products since I haven't tried many before, but I decided to give it a go when I saw Innisfree selling a smaller size on their official site. It felt gentle when applying, and I was pleased that there wasn't much irritation after use. My skin feels hydrated deep down, while the surface finish is fresh and velvety. It seems to have helped improve my skin texture, but I'll need more time to see results on pigmentation.
ConsIt's not a major issue, but there is a somewhat heavy medicinal scent. Most products with retinol tend to have this smell though. After application, I felt a slight tingling sensation - just enough to notice a bit of warmth on the skin.

Consistently applying it for 2-3 evenings helps reduce redness and calms the skin. (I also recommend this as an ampoule for boyfriends! My boyfriend kept getting breakouts after working out, even with thorough cleansing. This ampoule suited him well and made his skin much clearer! It seems to help control excess sebum too.) Skin texture improvement: - While I didn't notice significant pore reduction, my skin definitely feels smoother in the morning after use. This is likely due to its dead skin cell removal and skin regeneration effects. - It's perfect for me, as I have thin skin with a weak barrier! Hyperpigmentation: - As someone in their mid-20s with sun-sensitive skin prone to freckles and dark spots, I was stressed about hyperpigmentation. While it didn't show much effect on existing pigmentation, it definitely helps post-acne red marks heal faster than leaving them alone! (Pro tip: To prevent acne from worsening, I apply acne medication thickly, then layer this ampoule on top - double the effectiveness!)
ConsScent: There's nothing particularly disappointing, but it has a slightly peculiar scent. It's not exactly a medicinal smell, but it's reminiscent of a pharmacy? Texture: I can't compare it to other retinol products as I haven't tried them, but compared to other hydrating ampoules, it's quite runny. It feels a bit odd during application, but it absorbs well enough after patting it in a few times.
TipApply this preemptively when your skin condition isn't at its best! (As it contains retinol, I recommend starting with 1-2 times a week and gradually increasing frequency when first using it!)

I considered going for a stronger 0.2% from another brand, but decided on this milder option in case it didn't suit my skin. The synergy with The Ordinary's products is incredible. I usually don't wear sunscreen, so I only use this at night, but it makes my skin so firm that I'm tempted to apply it even when going out. It's amazing how my skin remains plump even when I wake up the next morning.
ConsThe price. While I believe in not skimping on skincare and often buy pricey basic care products, the small size of the container sometimes makes me question its value. The scent is also quite strong, with a noticeable chemical odor. However, I prefer this to having added fragrances to mask it, which would be more irritating.
TipAs mentioned above, it works exceptionally well with The Ordinary's products. Using them together results in wonderfully firm skin.

Being a retinol product, you can see the effects pretty quickly after using it for a while.
ConsThere's a bit of a rubbery smell which is slightly bothersome, and the price is absolutely wicked.

The application is smooth, and thanks to this, my skin texture has improved. I'll definitely repurchase when I run out!
ConsThe scent is slightly reminiscent of ointment, so keep that in mind when purchasing. Personally, I feel the volume is a bit small, so I wish it came in a larger size.
TipIf you apply it right after cleansing with a foam cleanser, it might cause a slight tingling sensation. For men who don't wear makeup, try cleansing with just an oil cleanser or thoroughly prep your skin with toner to avoid any irritation.

When applied, it adheres to the skin instantly, giving a nice, firm feel. However, I felt like I needed to use more product than usual to cover my face since it sticks so quickly.
ConsI'm not sure how long I need to use it to see wrinkle improvement, but the effects seem minimal or unnoticeable to me. Also, there's a slight rubber-like scent. Since I'm sensitive to fragrances, I wouldn't repurchase this compared to similar products. The texture is quite runny, which I personally don't prefer as I like thicker serums.
TipThe product seems to be gentle on the skin as claimed.

Although I couldn't use it for a full two weeks, after using it for over a week since receiving it, my skin has become noticeably smoother! I used to feel a bit of roughness when cleansing, but after consistently applying this, I could feel my skin becoming silky smooth. 2. It's called a 'blemish cica' serum, and it really does have some effect. I could visually see the redness from previous blemish extractions gradually fading. I was skeptical at first, but since I hadn't used anything else, I think this blemish serum must have helped. 3. I can see that my nose pores have slightly tightened. Usually in summer, my combination dehydrated skin gets quite oily, and I had severe blackheads around my nose area. But after consistently applying this serum, the blackheads didn't grow as much as before, and it seems to have an effect of making the pores appear slightly smaller. 4. I liked how quickly it absorbs. The texture is thin, but it's a bit sticky! I would repurchase when I run out. It definitely seems good for improving skin texture and reducing redness. Just remember to control the amount you use - too much of a good thing can be bad!
Cons1. Maybe it's because I applied it at night when my skin was sensitive after wearing makeup all day, but it stung and tingled when I put it on... I definitely felt that you need to be careful when using retinol. 2. The smell... it's a bit fishy, or should I say... it smells like crayons... I'm not a fan..
TipSince retinol often causes a burning sensation when applied directly to the face, I mix it with a moisturizing cream like Tox*den in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. This way, it's less irritating on the face and you can add hydration at the same time, which I found beneficial. Also, I only applied it at night, not during the day.

It's the kind of skin that always keeps you worried. How I used it: Considering retinol's potency, I simplified my evening routine. After toner, I applied this product, let it absorb, then followed with just a moisturizer. Perceived effects: Rather than dramatic improvement, I noticed gradual, steady progress. (The significant reduction in redness might also be due to improved immunity and overall skin condition!) Currently, I barely get one pustular spot, if any. As for the small bumps (possibly synergized by recent exfoliation and hydrating masks), they've decreased from several to just one or two on my forehead.
ConsI'm not sure if retinol products typically smell like this. It has a slight... pencil shavings scent, about 2% of the overall fragrance(?) The scent doesn't linger or become noticeable after application. It's only detectable right when you pump it out and start applying. While it might be a matter of personal preference, I think it's better to have this subtle scent than an added fragrance to mask it!
TipAs instructed, I used this as the second step in my routine. After letting it absorb well, I finished with a moisturizing product. When I woke up in the morning, I definitely felt like my skin had effectively 'eaten up' the product overnight.
