MAC's matte lipsticks are famous for a reason! The color payoff is fantastic, and the luxurious packaging is simply divine. Being a matte formula, it can accentuate dead skin cells if applied to dry lips. Make sure to moisturize your lips before application for the best results! - sy*****Dehydrated SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedJun 1, 2025
• Delightful chocolate scent • Intense, vibrant red pigmentation • A versatile red shade that suits both warm and cool undertones • Extremely matte finish Even as a matte lip enthusiast, I find this too drying... • Fragrance The chocolate scent is a bit off-putting for me - hy********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 30, 2025
The actual color differs quite a bit from what others described in their reviews. In person, it has no fluorescent undertones and adheres to the lips with a matte finish. The packaging exudes luxury, though I'm not sure if it's just brand appeal. When you open the cap, there's a delightful chocolate scent. It severely accentuates dead skin cells on the lips. Despite being a matte lipstick, it applies with an unexpectedly oily texture. At first glance, it seems like a cool-toned lip color, but once applied, the result is an ambiguous shade that's neither here nor there. Applying it full-coverage makes you look matronly, and it's not particularly flattering as a subtle gradient either. It's pricey, but definitely not worth the cost. When choosing a lipstick, it's crucial to consider how it interacts with your natural lip texture and complexion. This product seems to have some inconsistencies between its marketing and actual performance. For those with sensitive lips or who prefer a more hydrating formula, it might be worth exploring other options. Remember, what works for one person may not work for another, so always consider your personal preferences and skin type when selecting cosmetics. - hs*******RecommendedMay 18, 2025
Mac Rubiu has been in continuous use for almost 5 years First of all, the color is very pretty and it has good spreadability It is not moisturizing but matte Lips with peeling or moisture won't sting when applied. ㅋㅋ But this is natural for matte lip products.. Lip care is essential before application! - ea*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinDark CirclesRecommendedMay 16, 2025
The pigmentation is incredible and the longevity is no joke. It's clear why this is such a renowned product. The color is also absolutely beautiful. There is absolutely nothing. It's matte, but less accentuation of dead skin, and it's so good. - yo*********Dehydrated SkinInner DrynessRecommendedMay 8, 2025
MAC Ruby Woo, number 4 on the list. It's always recommended for cool-toned lipsticks, but it's a bit too bright for my ultra-cool complexion. However, the staying power is truly impressive. Even though my lips are extremely dry, I still manage to apply it. It's not entirely cool-toned, more like a neutral shade. For me, as a winter cool tone, it has a slight yellow undertone. Apply lip balm before using this lipstick. It's an extremely matte formula. - 07******Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 7, 2025
I bought this a few years ago and I'm still using it well. The solid formula seems to hold up nicely even after being open for a long time. Sometimes it doesn't apply smoothly on the lips (when they're too dry or too slippery). It slightly emphasizes dead skin cells. - zo*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMay 6, 2025
The color payoff is fantastic, and it really brings life to your complexion. It seems suitable for both cool and warm undertones. When you want to make a statement, apply it boldly. For everyday wear, a light application gives you a natural, petal-like beauty. I can't think of any particular drawbacks, but like most lipsticks, it can be prone to drying out your lips. This should be manageable if you prep your lips well with a good base. - ba*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedMar 25, 2025
This cool-toned point lip color is absolutely gorgeous! It's especially flattering for those with cool undertones. Being a matte lip product, it's quite drying. The staying power isn't particularly impressive either. For best results, apply a base lip product first, then use this as a point color just on the inner part of your lips. - yh******Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessRednessRecommendedMar 6, 2025
I tried the Ruby Woo color, and it's truly a cool red shade just as described on the website! Living up to its Retro Matte name, it has a crayon-like texture that absorbs well into the lips. The color payoff is equally intense. The staying power was surprisingly good - even after eating, there's hardly any need for touch-ups! Of course, I'm the type who finds touch-ups bothersome, but I was genuinely impressed by how long-lasting this product is. The bullet-shaped case is adorably chic too! When my warm-toned friend applied it, it seemed to sit on top of her lips rather than blend in. So warm-toned folks, be cautious! When applying this, lip care is an absolute must. If you're not careful, it can settle into fine lines.
