The houttuynia cordata extract really seems to help soothe the skin. Since it's free from harmful ingredients, I feel comfortable applying it generously like a hydrating mask before bed. The next morning when I wash my face, it feels plump, as if my skin has been coated in hydration! For a moisturizer, it feels a bit rich, so it might be too heavy to use before makeup. I've used up two jars of this. It's great for soothing and absorbs well. The texture is similar to a gel cream, and it seems to provide barrier care at the same time. I used it well before bed along with toner pads from the same line, not just before makeup! It has a hydrating cream texture with great absorption. I'm so happy I bought it during a buy-one-get-one-free offer! I've been using this product consistently for almost 6-7 years now. It's moisturizing without being sticky, provides excellent hydration, doesn't irritate my skin, and I feel like my complexion has actually improved. There's not really anything to complain about, but if I had to nitpick, I'd say the amount is too small so I find myself buying it frequently. I use this with the Houttuynia Cordata line. It has a pleasant scent, feels gentle, and works well even on my sensitive skin. During winter, I find that an oil-based product is necessary to maintain hydration. Try applying this after the Houttuynia Cordata toner, followed by a cream and jojoba oil. This routine helps lock in moisture for longer.

It's also perfect for light summer use, which makes me incredibly satisfied. My skin usually turns white even with sunscreen, but since using this, there's no patchiness at all! The finish is refreshingly nice too. I'm not sure if it's because I have extremely dry skin, but when I applied it before bed, my skin felt dry in the morning. However, when I slathered it on generously on lazy summer nights, it felt good without any tightness! It has a nice texture and is fragrance-free. The gel-type formula feels a bit cool when applied, but I didn't notice any significant soothing effects. I bought it for summer use, but it feels like a miss. It's not as refreshing as I'd hoped. If there's a silver lining, it's the generous amount you get. Despite being a gel-type, it doesn't absorb well.
