As someone who absolutely loves using matte cushions, I'm head over heels for the Vanilaco cushion. When I think of matte cushions, Vanilaco is the only one that comes to mind. The coverage is insane, and it adheres to the skin like a dream. It's just the right level of matte, making it my go-to cushion for summer. In my opinion, it's the top choice for a summer matte cushion. Since it's a matte cushion, make sure to prep your skin well before applying. Otherwise, it might not blend seamlessly into your complexion. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinDec 3, 2024
This is my go-to cushion foundation for everyday use, except during winter. What I love about it is how effortlessly it applies - you don't need any special techniques to get a beautiful finish. The staying power is impressive, which is why I find myself reaching for it so often. And when I think of Banila Co, I immediately think of their color range. This particular shade is a gorgeous ivory that really complements my complexion. I've been using this cushion daily, except during winter. It has a semi-matte formula, which can feel a bit drying on the skin during the colder months. - Hwahae UserDry SkinNov 8, 2024
As someone with dry skin who loves a matte finish, I've been on the hunt for semi-matte foundations. This one stands out among all I've tried - it's not overly drying, which is fantastic. Usually, I need shade 23 or 22, which often come in very beige tones. But this one's different, and I absolutely love that about it! Given its matte properties, it does tend to make my skin feel a bit dry over time. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 17, 2024
I've always struggled to find the right cushion foundation for my darker skin tone, but this one in shade 23 is a perfect match! It really lives up to its reputation... The coverage is incredible. For someone with combination dehydrated skin like me, this cushion is an absolute dream! As expected with matte formulas, it's unavoidable to experience some caking and patchiness. It also tends to accentuate dead skin cells. Can't be helped, I suppose... Please, please make sure to hydrate your skin thoroughly before using a matte cushion! Even if you just focus on applying your base products well and ensuring they absorb properly, you'll notice significantly less patchiness. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJun 30, 2024
The coverage is truly excellent, and it applies so smoothly on the skin. I'd say it's definitely among the top cushions I've used! (I'm already on my 4th one..) Oh, and the scent isn't bad either..haha The cushion itself has a slightly yellowish tint, and it can cling a bit to the nose. Controlling the amount is a bit tricky... Also, it feels somewhat matte and a little heavy on the skin. When you first buy it, it's quite challenging to control the amount. It's best to start with less product on the cushion puff and build up as needed. Alternatively, using a spatula to apply it from the back of your hand isn't a bad method either! - Hwahae UserDry SkinJun 1, 2024
The staying power is truly impressive. You barely need to touch up your makeup throughout the day. It also creates a beautiful skin finish. I'd recommend this for those with oily skin. As someone with dry skin, I found it too matte for my liking. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinApr 18, 2024
First off, the case is beautiful. When applied, it looks just like my own skin - the color and expression are excellent. The coverage is also good. It performs well in most aspects. The puff isn't bad either. If your skin doesn't have much dead skin cells, has minimal texture issues, and you just want to cover some blemishes or slightly improve your complexion, this could be perfect for you. The downside is that if you have even a little bit of dead skin cells, it's a disaster. It pretends to be your skin so well, but if dead skin builds up in between... oh no! Because of this issue with clinging to dead skin cells, it's hard to give it a perfect score. The first day was really great. I followed advice to exfoliate before use, and it looked beautiful. But ultimately, while they tried to create a semi-matte finish with good staying power for all-day wear, it didn't quite succeed. It works well if you maintain good exfoliation. But having to do intensive skincare every day just to use this product seems a bit much... It might cause irritation to the skin. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 20, 2024
Shade: - 21 was too light, and 23 too natural for me. I usually use 22 or a slightly lighter 23. I found this product in shade 22 at Olive Young! I tested it before buying and noticed 22 has a yellow undertone, which might be great for those with redness. There wasn't a tester for 23, so I took a chance. It's a touch lighter than a typical 23, giving my complexion a subtle brightness - it's lovely! It feels closer to 22 but with less yellow. I'm very satisfied with 23! If you're torn between 22 and 23, consider your level of redness when deciding. Coverage: - I'm quite pleased with the coverage! I have blemish scars and some redness here and there. While it doesn't completely hide everything, it provides a natural-looking cover. Those annoying spots that were so visible before? They're much less noticeable now. Oil Control and Longevity: - It's matte! There's minimal oil, and while a bit of shine might appear over time, it has good staying power. You might need a touch-up midday, though. I wouldn't recommend this for dry skin. Even with my combination-oily skin, my cheeks feel a bit tight. Make sure to layer on hydration in your skincare routine! I initially bought this for the gorgeous MLB collaboration edition case, but I'm genuinely happy with the product! I have super sensitive skin and can't use just anything, but this didn't cause any irritation or breakouts. Application: - The application isn't great, unfortunately. To achieve that matte finish, it goes on quite thick and you really need to control the amount on the puff for even distribution. Otherwise, it can get patchy. The difference was especially noticeable after using YSL's pink cushion, and it's even thicker than the Laneige Neo Cushion. I recommend using very hydrating products in your skincare routine! Also, I found that Daiso puffs work better for application than the one that comes with the product. - Hwahae UserDry SkinOct 14, 2023
The case is so bright and pretty. It seems they've done a great job with the color selection. I have dry skin and usually use semi-matte foundations or cushions. I was so excited that I even bought a refill... I should have been more careful. It's extremely difficult to use. I'm not sure if I'm using it wrong... Even with a damp puff, a thorough skincare routine, and applying it thinly... it's terrible. It settles into pores and fine lines, emphasizes dead skin cells, and looks awful. The longevity is good, but it doesn't break down nicely. I've given up on it. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 30, 2023
I used to be a cushion nomad, but this is the best cushion I've used so far! With my combination dehydrated skin, my forehead, T-zone, and chin tend to get oily and break down unattractively. However, this product breaks down beautifully, and if you blot the oiliness with a tissue, it looks perfect again! Even though it's shade 23, it feels like a lighter 23, and the semi-matte formula definitely seems to control oil better! Because it's semi-matte, if you don't control the amount well, it might make your skin look too heavy.
