As someone with combination skin, I loved that it never broke down or faded even once during summer It's disappointing that it causes some darkening, and on days when my face is very dry, it makes my skin feel tight - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 25, 2025
The coverage is great. However, it seems to darken the skin a bit... It appeared to darken my complexion slightly. It also felt a bit heavy when applied. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 18, 2025
The adhesion is great and the color is truly beautiful! Plus, the coverage is pretty good too. The only real downside is that it oxidizes quite badly. Apart from that, everything else is great. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinDec 24, 2024
I've been using this for a year, and the best things about it are its excellent adherence and coverage. However, as I continued using it, I noticed it caused some darkening, and it tends to settle into the creases around my nose quite badly. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinDec 15, 2024
It absorbs thinly and adheres well to the skin! The coverage seems to be medium to high. The shade seems a bit light for a #23, and it looks like there might be some darkening over time. - Hwahae UserOily SkinOct 15, 2024
I was really worried about the Banila Co. darkening issue that I'd heard so much about, but there was hardly any darkening at all! Even though I have oily skin, it didn't feel heavy or drying when I applied it as part of my basic skincare routine. They said the color would come out light, but after a little while, it seemed to darken, almost like it was oxidizing. You really need to be careful with the amount you use - a little goes a long way. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 5, 2024
The coverage is seriously amazing! You don't even need concealer. It's absolutely fantastic! It darkens too much and doesn't blend well. Not recommended for those with very dry skin. Make sure to prep your skin thoroughly before applying. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJun 10, 2024
The coverage seems great! It wears beautifully and it's easy to control the amount you apply. The darkening effect is extremely severe. After some time, it also starts to separate on the skin. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 21, 2024
Absolutely nothing. It doesn't even deserve one star. I'm genuinely baffled - why is this product so hyped? I rarely write reviews, but I'm so annoyed I had to. I've been a loyal Banila Co. fan, using their foundation for over 3 bottles and currently loving their powder. But this? It's utter garbage. 1. The application is the worst I've ever experienced in a cushion. The more you pat, the more it cakes and creates patches. Trying to blend the clumps only makes it worse. The staying power is ironically impressive - once it's on, good luck fixing it without a full cleanse. One wrong move while applying, and it's game over. 2. The oxidation is severe. I usually use shade 23 and still look pale, but with this, the color difference between the left and right side of my face is noticeable immediately. By the time I've done my brows and lips, my face has turned an unflattering muddy color. It's ridiculous! The overall darkening is bad enough, but the areas with more product turn even darker, creating a patchy mess. 3. As it breaks down, it balls up on the skin. I'm tired of listing its flaws. I'm just going to toss it - it's not even good enough to give away. Back to Jung Saem Mool for me. Goodbye and good riddance. - Hwahae UserDry SkinMay 4, 2024
* I have a warm undertone with redness, hovering between shades 22-23. Dry skin. Blessed with prominent pores. No severe blemishes except during my period. My neck is darker, so I prefer foundation shades that look natural. Color: A light shade 23. Instead of matching my skin exactly, it creates a uniform, bright canvas that's perfect for applying color cosmetics. Coverage: As someone who doesn't bother with low-coverage products, this one impresses. It offers such high coverage that concealer becomes unnecessary. Just apply this and touch up any blemish scars with a pencil concealer. The texture correction is remarkable (see photo). Even with my deep pores and uneven texture, it smooths everything out impressively. Staying power: It stays flawless for 12 hours. For dry skin, it barely breaks down with oil. I only applied powder partially, yet it held up. Impressive stuff. There's minimal caking, and any that occurs can be easily fixed with a quick pat of the puff. However, it can occasionally darken if it doesn't mesh well with your skincare. You might find your face looks brighter after removing your makeup. I'm not sure which exact products cause this incompatibility. Texture: It has a creamy texture that isn't thin. Spreading it creates a slightly thinner layer, but this can feel irritating if your skin isn't in good condition (I avoid using this cushion in such cases). For a semi-matte finish, it doesn't emphasize wrinkles much (see photo. Other products would have highlighted smile lines more). It also fills in pores well. Additional notes: Despite being a high-coverage semi-matte cushion, it doesn't feel uncomfortable on the skin. It doesn't feel very drying either. It doesn't settle much around the nose. However, it may emphasize flaky skin. It can be particularly unforgiving on dry patches over blemishes or areas irritated by toothpaste allergies. It can be picky about compatibility with skincare and sunscreen. In unlucky cases, it may darken significantly. Not suitable for touch-ups. But its staying power is so good that you rarely need to touch up. First, spread it thinly, then layer it only on areas needing more coverage. This method also works well for covering pores.
