Star Rating: 3.5/5 Quick Take: Recommended for those who typically use mineral sunscreens, experience dryness or tightness in fall/winter, and parents of elementary school children! However, given the price point relative to volume and packaging, as well as some application issues I'll mention later, this might be better as a gift for younger users rather than adults. I have sensitive, delicate skin with a touch of dehydration and combination tendencies. My usual skincare routine is: [S Nature Squalane Toner (3 layers) → Torriden Cica Full Balancing Serum (1 layer), Baek A Yul Moisture Balancing Serum (1 layer) → Belief Aqua Bomb & Moisturizing Bomb] Packaging: The case is brighter and more vibrant than I expected! It's much thinner and lighter than typical cushion compacts, making it very portable. However, it does feel a bit... toy-like? It reminds me of Etude House products from when road shop brands were all the rage. While that might be a bit disappointing for someone in their mid-20s like me, my elementary school-aged cousin was really drawn to it. It could be perfect for upper elementary students just getting into skincare! The ingredients are decent, and the slight white cast might even be a plus for them. I appreciated the included product brochure and letter from the CEO - it shows they care and are confident in their product. Texture: The formula is quite hydrating! Unlike many mineral sunscreens that can be dry or difficult to spread, this one feels moisturizing with a slight oiliness that aids application. However, it can occasionally clump, especially around the nose and mouth corners. The white cast is more noticeable than expected, so you'll need to be careful with the amount used and blend well. Finish: The finish is a bit disappointing. Whether due to its hydrating formula, oiliness, or my current extensive skincare routine (my skin is getting drier with the season change), it feels like it's sitting on top of my skin rather than absorbing. It seems to disappear from the skin quite quickly too. This might be more noticeable in autumn when we tend to use more hydrating skincare products. The white cast gives a slight tone-up effect, but it's hard to say if it's more like a white tone-up cushion or just a sunscreen with a strong white cast - the effect seems to vary each time I look. On the plus side, unlike many mineral sunscreens that can feel very drying in fall and winter, I didn't experience any tightness or surface dryness even when wearing just this sunscreen all day. Ingredients / Irritation: As someone with sensitive skin, I'm very particular about ingredients. This product excludes 19 out of 20 caution ingredients and is free from common allergens, making it suitable for those with sensitive or allergy-prone skin. The only slight disappointment is the inclusion of fragrance, which isn't necessary. However, it's the last ingredient listed, so the amount is likely minimal. Unless you're extremely sensitive, it should be fine - I used it without any issues.
ConsPrice: Currently listed at 30,000 won for 12g on Hwahae without any discount, which feels a bit high to me. Given that the packaging feels more economical than luxurious or sturdy, I expected a lower price point. After using it and checking the price, I probably won't repurchase due to the cost. Comparing it to other cushion cases in a similar price range on Hwahae or in drugstores, the packaging of this product feels less sturdy and more cheap, which is disappointing considering the price and volume. Longevity: Unfortunately, the product's tendency to sit on top of the skin affects its staying power. It seems to wipe off easily with the slightest touch. On a day when I wore only this product without any other makeup, it appeared almost completely gone after just 3-4 hours. While it's unclear if the white cast disappeared or if the sunscreen itself wore off, the poor adherence to the skin likely contributes to its quick fading. Despite the high SPF, which I appreciate, the poor longevity makes it hard to recommend. The pilling issue also caused problems when applying makeup over this product.
TipGreat for Elementary School Kids! My 4th-grade cousin really wanted this product when she saw it! The case design seems appealing to students. (It might work for middle and high school students too, though as someone in their mid-20s, it felt a bit toy-like to me.) It's easy to apply without getting your hands messy, perfect for reapplying before PE class. For kids just starting to get interested in skincare, the slight white cast might even be seen as a positive feature!

I always apply sunscreen, even in fall and winter. This sun cushion spreads thinly, so even with full makeup, your skin doesn't feel suffocated. ❤️ Gentle and lightweight - recommended for all ages and genders My skin has been sensitive lately due to the dry, chilly weather, but this product is so gentle. It doesn't aggravate blemishes when applied over them.
Cons🤔 The puff could be better Dust tends to stick to the puff easily, so I've been using disposable puffs instead. 🤔 The scent is a bit strong Children who are sensitive to cosmetic smells might find the fragrance a bit intense.

It's perfect for dry seasons like now. I was amazed by how great the puff feels - it's easy to apply and leaves almost no white cast. It's truly remarkable. Even though I'm not a fan of scented products, I love this cushion. It has a very subtle, gum-like fragrance. If refills were sold separately, I'd definitely buy them. The case is lightweight and fantastic, with a generously sized mirror despite its compact size. I'm thoroughly satisfied!
ConsThe amount seems a bit small. Refills are a must-have... and buying extra puffs is essential too. The puff is so good, I want to stock up on them.
TipAfter applying the cushion, if you finish with powder just on your T-zone, your skin will look flawless, as if it's not affected by seasonal changes at all.

While it might not be for everyone, I personally enjoyed its subtle scent. *Brightening: I was surprised by how white the product was at first, but after patting it in evenly, it created a beautifully radiant complexion. *Design: I loved the pink, round design. As someone who prefers small bags, I appreciated how thin the product is, making it easy to carry around. *Side effects: No blemishes or other side effects. I was glad there was no eye irritation. *It's a product that puts you in a good mood, especially with the note from the CEO included when you receive it.
ConsIt's not really a downside, but those who don't prefer brightening effects might have mixed feelings about it. Also, I wish it had a bit more moisture.
TipWhile it feels moisturizing after application, sometimes when my skin is dry, I notice it can pill slightly. For a more hydrated look, try applying it after your skincare routine. Oh, and don't forget to remove the protective film from the mirror before use!

I've been part of The Hwahae Testers a few times, but this was the first time I've seen a brand include a personal letter. It wasn't anything fancy, but it felt sincere and made me happy! I'm sensitive to sunscreens, so I absolutely can't use chemical filters daily (they leave blemishes), and mineral filters are often too thick and drying. This really limits my options. It's not feasible to try every sunscreen on the market either. So, my solution was to try 'baby' products. Whenever I had issues with skincare, including sunscreens, switching to baby products usually solved the problem. That's why I requested this one - it's for newborns! Luckily, it seems to work well for me. While I do get a few tiny bumps when I wear this under a mask, it's still one of the least blemish-inducing sunscreens I've used. It also has minimal white cast. I think it applies smoothly, which helps reduce the white cast. It's impressive how they've managed to create a mineral sunscreen with such good absorption. Some other thick mineral sunscreens feel like you're applying a crayon (I know they do this to avoid irritating sensitive skin, so I'm not saying it's all bad!). This one doesn't dry out my skin over time, and it doesn't get oily either. I'm very satisfied with these aspects!
ConsThe texture is really nice. However, being in a cushion format, I feel like there's not enough product. We're supposed to apply a lot of sunscreen for proper UV protection, right? At that rate, I'm worried I'll use it up too quickly. If they had a tube version, I'd prefer that!
TipMake sure to double cleanse when washing your face! Use a cleansing oil or cleansing water.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsI applied for The Hwahae Testers because I needed a sun cushion, as I heard you should reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours. Regular sunscreen is such a hassle to apply outdoors! Especially difficult to put on over makeup, but using a sun cushion is so convenient and wonderful. In conclusion, I'm very satisfied. Product advantages: 1. Hydration: Even with minimal skincare, it didn't feel dry at all! Perfect for when you're lazy or need to get ready quickly. 2. No eye irritation, tingling, or any irritation at all: Even though it's a mineral sunscreen, I've never used a product with so little irritation. Highly recommended for those with super sensitive skin!! 3. Texture: I dislike that strange, stuffy feeling on the skin when applying sunscreen or foundation, but this product feels like you've barely applied anything - it's so lightweight. It also seems to have minimal shine! 4. Easy to control amount: This is more of an advantage of sun cushions in general, but it's so much easier to apply than regular sunscreen! With cream sunscreens, if you apply too much it leaves a white cast, and too little isn't effective. But I've read that with sun cushions or sun sticks, just a light pat is enough for sufficient UV protection. I'm mentioning this for those who might be worried about not getting enough protection.
ConsBrightening: It doesn't brighten enough to replace a brightening moisturizer! It does lighten subtly and naturally, but don't expect a pretty pink tone-up effect. You should only count on it to slightly brighten your face. Makeup pilling: When I applied cushion foundation over this, it pilled a tiny bit. It's not severe though! There are sunscreens that pill much worse, so this is relatively good. However, as mentioned earlier, it was fine for reapplying over makeup every 2 hours or so!
Tip1. Great for reapplying sunscreen when you're out and about. 2. For skin tones around 20-21, applying twice is ideal for evening out skin tone. 3. While it's not a high-coverage product, those without severe blemishes could probably achieve a foundation-free look using this product + concealer!

Currently, due to the weather, my T-zone is quite oily while my cheeks can get so dry they crack by afternoon if I don't carefully apply skincare products in the morning. Advantages: 1. Convenience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The biggest advantage of a sun cushion! You can apply it anytime, anywhere, and reapply as needed. 2. Non-sticky finish ⭐️⭐️ There's absolutely no stickiness, which is one of the main reasons people avoid sunscreen. Those who dislike the sticky feeling or worry about makeup not adhering well can use this without any discomfort. 3. Ingredients ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have sensitive skin, and it doesn't cause any blemishes even during that special time of the month, proving its gentle formulation. 4. No eye irritation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I've had LASEK surgery, so I'm sensitive to eye-irritating cosmetics, but this doesn't sting my eyes at all. 5. Natural brightening effect ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Instead of leaving a white cast, it naturally brightens the complexion by one shade, giving a beautiful filtered look. When I don't feel like doing a full face of makeup, I just apply this and lightly fill in my brows for a pretty, natural look. Just remember to control the amount! 6. Scent ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It has a baby powder scent, which I personally like. Unless you're very sensitive to fragrances, it shouldn't be polarizing.
ConsThere are no drawbacks to the sunscreen itself. 1. Puff The puff seems to release the product rather than absorb it. 2. Price Sun cushions generally feel expensive for the amount you get, and this product is no exception. 3. Case This is purely personal preference, but if I had to pick something, the case design is a bit disappointing. It looks like something from a Barbie playset.
TipAmount control: If you apply too much, your face might look unnaturally pale. With the right amount, it naturally brightens and evens skin tone. For dry skin types: If you have dry skin, make sure to apply your skincare products thoroughly to prevent the sunscreen from emphasizing dead skin cells.

Cons- If you have a darker complexion, this product might make you look too pale. I have a slightly yellowish skin tone, and after one application, it made me look so white that the difference between my face and neck was noticeable. Using less product makes it look more natural, but I'm not sure if it still provides enough sun protection. - Sunscreen usually needs to be reapplied over time, but with this product, each reapplication makes your face look whiter. So if you don't have fair skin, it might only be suitable for short outings. - Like most sun cushions, the amount of product is small. If you use it daily all over your face, it'll likely run out quickly. - I would definitely repurchase if it matched my skin tone, but unfortunately, it doesn't, which is disappointing.

With just the El Sol Moisturizing Cushion, I feel confident my skin won't suffer at the beach. Even though I don't go to the office, I use it daily, morning and evening. Thank you for creating this product! It hydrates well and doesn't cause any pain or irritation when applied to the skin. I have combination dehydrated skin, and it absorbs beautifully, working well even when layered with foundation.
ConsThere's nothing disappointing about the application. Remember, sun protection is essential even in fall and winter!
TipIt's perfect for quick outings.

It's likely to be even better for use during dry autumn and winter months. ✔️ Quality ingredients Sometimes when using sunscreens, certain products can cause tingling or blemishes. However, this product doesn't have those issues, which makes me feel the ingredients are good quality. ✔️ Brightening effect Applying a moderate amount gives a natural one-tone brightening effect. It doesn't make your face look unnaturally pale or feel heavy. However, when I first used it, I applied it generously like regular sunscreen, which resulted in a noticeable color difference between my face and neck. It's better to apply thin layers multiple times to make the most of the cushion's benefits. ✔️ Compact container for easy storage This is the thinnest cushion case I've ever seen. It's perfect for slipping into small handbags, making it easy to take out and use when you're out and about. ✔️ Great for reapplication Being able to reapply thinly without getting it on my hands was a huge plus for me. Especially with sunscreen, you need to reapply several times for continued effectiveness, which isn't always easy when you're out. It's great to be able to carry a small sun cushion in your bag and use it anytime, anywhere.
Cons✔️ Easily rubbed off and transfers Even after patting it on several times with the puff, it still comes off when I lightly touch my face. It seems you should avoid touching your face for a few minutes after application. I felt like it didn't adhere well to the skin. ✔️ Not recommended for foundation-free use I usually use tone-up sunscreen for a foundation-free look. So I hoped this sun cushion could be used the same way, but it has almost no coverage and comes off easily, making it more suitable for touch-ups.
TipRather than applying a large amount at once, it's better to apply thin layers multiple times to improve adherence to the skin.
