While the jar format is admittedly less convenient than a tube, they've thoughtfully included a way to secure the spatula, which made it less of an issue. It felt more user-friendly compared to other jar-type products. True to its 'rice soap' name, the texture reminds me of thick Greek yogurt. The ASMR-like sound in the ad really captures the texture - when using it, you can hear that thick, sticky sound which gave me a bit of a spa-like feeling (though the bathroom acoustics might have enhanced that effect!). The exfoliating particles make it feel quite stimulating, but you can really feel it working on dead skin cells. I typically only wear light makeup, and when I used this as a second cleanse after my cleansing milk, I felt it removed all traces of product effectively. Due to its unique texture, it keeps producing foam, so rinsing takes a bit more effort. I was initially concerned about the slightly slippery texture, but after thorough rinsing, it left my skin feeling clean without any residue. The amount of product is generous. It lathers well, so you could use just a small amount each time if desired, which would make it last quite a while. I accidentally used too much the first time and spent ages rinsing off all the foam! While the stimulating effect means it's best for occasional use, overall I found it more satisfying than I expected.
ConsAt first, I applied it directly to my dry face, but it felt quite stimulating and stiffer than expected. Mixing it with a bit of water improved the experience. The exfoliating particles meant I couldn't scrub vigorously - I had to be gentle, which inevitably extended my cleansing time. Also, it does have a noticeable stimulating effect.
TipTry mixing it with a little water and use less product than you might think necessary.

Cleansing effectiveness I haven't had much chance to properly test its cleansing power lately since I've been going mostly foundation-free or wearing very light makeup. However, it seems to remove sunscreen well, though I can't be 100% sure without checking with a device. 2. Texture There's a slight scrubbing sensation, as if there are tiny particles. It might just be my imagination, but my skin feels super smooth after cleansing! However, it might feel a bit dry for some. It doesn't have that soft, melting-off feeling. 3. Formula Since it's a scoop-out product, the texture is like a paste or glue stick. 4. Scent It has a grassy scent, which I personally love - it's right up my alley! 5. Recommended skin types I think this product could work well for most skin types! Unless you have extremely oily or dry skin, it should be suitable for a wide range. Even with my dry skin, I didn't experience any tightness after cleansing.
ConsThe main downside was the slightly dry feeling during use. It starts off okay when you add water and massage it in, but then it feels a bit dry again. That was a bit disappointing.

Quite stiff when applied directly to bare skin, but spreads smoothly when there's moisture on hands and face. Skin type: Combination dehydrated skin, with deep dryness. Became sensitive due to frequent business trips. Scent: Can't pinpoint exactly, but it has a subtle, fresh fragrance that gently diffuses. Feels like a distant blend of herbal and floral notes. Cleansing effectiveness: My usual makeup routine includes skincare (up to moisturizer), sunscreen, BB cream + a thin layer of foundation, cream eyeshadow, and mascara. As someone who doesn't typically wear heavy makeup, it removes everything effectively. It even works well on occasional use of intense mascara (*Rio mascara). Of course, for foolproof removal, oil or eye makeup remover is recommended. Pros: Effectively removes light makeup, doesn't cause immediate tightness after cleansing, which is satisfying. The texture is pleasantly firm, and it creates small, soft bubbles. How to use: Use the included spoon to scoop desired amount onto your palm.
ConsApplying directly to the face makes it too stiff for proper massage. Using too much product might surprise you with endless foam. Wish list: Due to its texture, a tube might be challenging. It's a bit cumbersome to open the lid, take out the spoon, remove the inner seal, scoop out the product, and then reverse the process.
TipCreates more lather than expected. Recommend applying to face after working it with a bit of water until it becomes lighter in color and softer in texture.

As it's famous for being a 'rice cake soap', I expected a chewy texture like real rice cakes. At first, it just felt soft, which made me go 'Huh?', but as I kept stirring, it became chewy like I've seen before. I've been using it every morning and evening since it arrived, so I've already used quite a bit. The texture is indeed chewy, and true to its exfoliating nature, you can feel the particles. However, it felt much gentler than my usual products, making me wonder if it was actually exfoliating. But after rinsing, my face felt incredibly smooth. I used to use natural soaps that always left my face feeling tight, but this rice cake soap doesn't dry out my skin at all after cleansing, which I love. Many people consider scooping it out a drawback, but here's a tip: buy a pill case from a dollar store to portion it out - problem solved! I'm so happy I finally got to use this rice cake soap I've been wanting to try for ages. I think I'll be repurchasing it regularly.
ConsWhen you apply it as a mask for 1-2 minutes, you might find it feels very stiff. Adding a tiny bit of water solves this issue. Since it's an exfoliating product with particles, be careful not to get it in your eyes - that could be extremely uncomfortable!
TipFor me, using it as a mask was the best. I'd leave it on for a minute, then mix with water for a full cleanse. Afterward, my skin felt incredibly smooth.

Despite being dry, I tend to get white sebum buildup on my cheeks and chin due to the flakiness. 1. It has a pleasant scent. 2. The ingredients are high-quality. 3. The gentle beads exfoliate without irritation as you massage. A major plus is that the beads are so gentle, you can use them daily without any irritation. 4. It lathers up incredibly well.
ConsInitially, it feels a bit stiff when massaging without water, making it somewhat difficult to roll. However, if you use too much product, you'll end up rinsing forever as it creates an enormous amount of foam when it meets water. So, I wouldn't recommend using a large amount of the product.
TipStart by gently massaging it onto dry skin, feeling a slight resistance. Then, add water to create a rich lather and continue massaging thoroughly for an extended period.

Size To be honest, I don't usually expect much from the size of products I receive as a Hwahae Tester, but getting such a large volume this time really made me happy! 2. Packaging It comes with a spoon, and I loved the thoughtful detail of being able to secure it. The packaging is beautifully green, and the scent is clean, almost like soap! It has a charm that makes you want to keep looking at it. 3. Cleansing Effectiveness At first, I thought it might be a cleansing balm, but it didn't have that slippery balm-like feel. Rather than being soft like a foam, it had a slightly grainy texture. While it doesn't give that squeaky-clean feeling, the cleansing power is still pretty good.
Cons[Areas for Improvement] 1. Application First off, when applying it, it feels like you're spreading butter on your face. Instead of adhering well to the skin, it doesn't spread easily and feels somewhat disconnected. Also, there was a strange tingling sensation when applying, which worried me a bit. I'll need to use it for a few more days to see if it causes any blemishes. 2. User Experience It doesn't seem to lather up much. It's also somewhat difficult to spread evenly. When rinsing off, you'll likely need to use plenty of water to wash it away thoroughly.
