I've been using this for about a year now, and I can definitely say it's great for those with oily skin! The scent is lovely too, so I highly recommend it! I'm not sure if it's because it removes too much oil, but when I use it daily for a long period, I feel like my hair texture deteriorates. So now I'm only using it occasionally. Rather than using it too frequently, I think 2-3 times a week might be just right! - gk******Combination SkinRecommendedMay 24, 2025
The fragrance is absolutely delightful - a soft and subtle floral scent that's so pleasant. The coarse salt granules work wonders for exfoliating dead skin cells. It lathers up nicely too. I've been using this small jar for just over a month on my thick, waist-length hair. It lasts surprisingly long! While the salt particles are great for scrubbing, they don't dissolve easily in water. This makes it a bit tricky to work into your scalp - about half the product ends up falling away before it can do its job. For best results, dissolve a small amount in warm water to create a lather before shampooing. - al*****Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 15, 2025
The employee's recommendation was spot on, and I'm really, really happy with it. This is a must-try, especially for those who struggle with flat or lifeless hair. The salt shampoo really boosts volume, and the lather is rich and creamy. The formula contains safe salt ingredients that can be massaged directly onto the scalp, rather than harsh plastics. I've been giving myself scalp massages, and the difference in volume between using and not using it is truly remarkable. I highly recommend this product. It's all good, but it's a bit stiff. The Lush hair products don't contain silicone and wax ingredients that are harmful to the scalp and hair, so they can be a bit stiff, or so I've heard. But as you use them, you can feel your hair becoming healthier. - dp******Combination SkinRecommendedApr 13, 2025
If you're a fan of citrus scents, you'll love this fragrance. It's incredibly suitable for oily scalps. Even when I wash my hair in the morning, it usually gets greasy by evening, but with this product, my hair stays fresh until night. It does make your hair quite stiff. It's a bit better after drying, but if you're looking for a product that gives your hair a bouncy, flowing feel, this might not be the right choice for you. - ss*********Oily SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 12, 2025
- It reduces scalp oiliness : I used to feel like my hair got greasy by the time I got home, but on days when I used this product, there was noticeably less greasiness even late into the night - It makes hair feel a bit stiff : Compared to other scalp scrub (and shampoo) products, it's less noticeable, but when used alone, you can still feel a slight stiffness in your hair - ha**Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedApr 12, 2025
The cleansing effectiveness is great, and my hair doesn't get greasy after washing. I've been using it for 5 years already! There's not much to complain about, except occasionally there are some salt particles that are a bit too large. But even that's not a big deal. - eu*********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRednessRecommendedMar 27, 2025
As someone with an oily scalp prone to occasional seborrheic dermatitis, I found my holy grail with Lush BIG after struggling with drugstore shampoos! It effectively removes excess oil and smells amazing! I typically shampoo twice - first with a regular shampoo, then follow up with BIG. For my regular shampoo, I usually use Head & Shoulders for itchy scalp, Cool Menthol, or Ts shampoo. The salt granules are quite large, which might irritate sensitive scalps or cause blemishes. When they feel too coarse, I just pick out some of the salt with my hands. Also, the price point is a bit steep. - mi*********Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 17, 2025
I tried a few samples and was impressed by how little product is needed to create a rich lather. It leaves my scalp feeling squeaky clean, which I love. I alternate between this and my wasabi shampoo. It seems to work well for my teenage daughter's dandruff and appears suitable for oily scalp types. The only downside I can think of is the price relative to the amount you get... - ge*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedFeb 11, 2025
As a salt-based shampoo, coarse salt is the main ingredient. When shampooing, you can feel the salt gently exfoliating without irritating the scalp. It definitely removes scalp oil effectively, which has significantly reduced my minor scalp blemishes. The neroli and orange scents are absolutely delightful, with a long-lasting fragrance. I love that it lathers well even with just a small amount. The black pot packaging can be a bit inconvenient to use, so that's something to keep in mind. Also, like most Lush shampoos, it tends to leave hair feeling quite stiff after use, so I recommend using a conditioner. - ha******Oily SkinEnlarged PoresRecommendedJan 6, 2025
I've used this product for 10 years, and while it's not suitable for long-term exclusive or daily use, it's still a good product. In terms of short-term hair volume, it's unbeatable. The product's unique and fun application experience sets it apart. It's particularly perfect for those days when you need extra volume. After long-term use, I don't think it has a positive effect on hair texture. This is the main observation I've made after extended use. It doesn't seem particularly beneficial for scalp health either. Don't expect any improvements in hair density or thickness - that's completely unrealistic. This conclusion comes from using the product religiously for 10 years, and then comparing it with both high-end and affordable alternatives from other brands over the past few years.
