I'm not sure... I bought this because Laura Mercier was too expensive, but now I regret not spending the extra money on Laura Mercier. I ended up selling this secondhand and now I'm using Laura Mercier. The product was weak, making it difficult to use effectively. The price was disappointing too. I bought it because it was supposed to give a 'sauna glow', but it didn't live up to expectations. It kind of gave a 'gilded Buddha statue' effect, if you know what I mean. - de********Dry SkinSep 1, 2019
The glow is intense. Just a little bit gives you that radiant look. The color is more beige than white, so it's not exactly a honey-glow type. With great pigmentation comes inevitable excess powder. The high pearl content in the powder tends to settle into wrinkles. For older skin, it can also get stuck in pores. It might give you that late 20th century vibe. Consequently, I rarely reach for it. Sigh... I should just toss it in the trash now, it's so old. Why did I even buy this back then? There are so many better highlighters out there. What's so special about this Luminarizer anyway? Using it sparingly in specific areas might help avoid a cheap look. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedAug 7, 2019
#21 shade #deep undertone I wasn't particularly interested in highlighters and didn't really feel the need for one, but this product changed my mind. First off, the powder formula makes it easy to use. Even when I layered it, I didn't feel like it was caking up! Above all, the fine shimmer particles are absolutely gorgeous. It especially shines in natural light, giving a sparkling effect that adds dimension without being overwhelming. As with any highlighter, controlling the amount is key, and the beige tone makes it versatile and easy to use. There was a slight emphasis on pores, but not to a bothersome degree. - mo*********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 30, 2019
I've been using this for over two years now! It's my holy grail highlighter and a permanent fixture in my routine. I've looked at others, but nothing compares to this one, honestly. For the longest time, I couldn't find a highlighter I really liked, so I kept searching but ended up not using any because nothing seemed right. They were either too artificial-looking and overwhelming, or just sparkly with a bit of glitter, but nothing that truly fit. Plus, being blessed with large pores, I struggled to find a highlighter that worked well for me, making it even harder to settle on one. When I apply this to the center of my face, it brightens everything up and gives a subtle glow that actually makes those areas look more lifted - it really fulfills the role of a highlighter perfectly. When you move your face, it catches the light beautifully, it's just gorgeous. It doesn't just sparkle indiscriminately, nor does it look unnaturally white or fake - it does its job subtly and effectively. Using a not-too-wide brush to precisely apply it to the central areas of the face creates a much more three-dimensional look, and it brightens the overall complexion too. Compared to stark white highlighters, this one blends more naturally while still providing a strong effect without looking unnatural. The staying power is great! My makeup usually fades quickly, but this stays put until I get home! It doesn't emphasize pores much! Despite being a dry powder with shimmer, which typically accentuates pores, this one does so much less. Of course, it's not completely invisible, but even as someone with large pores, I can use it without much concern. The fine, soft particles seem to minimize pore emphasis significantly for a highlighter. The case is pretty and the wide pan shape is convenient. It also comes with a large mirror, which is great. The case illustration is beautiful and unique, and the product inside is just as good! Often, you buy something for the packaging and the contents are just so-so, but not here. It's thin and light, and the size is just right - generous enough but not too big to carry around. I was torn between Mary and Cindy, but Cindy had too much of a pink tone that looked a bit unnatural on the nose and forehead. Even though it has good color payoff, the pink was too prominent for highlighting the bridge of the nose. It might look pretty as a blush/highlighter combo on the cheeks, but buying both was a bit much, so I just went with Mary as it's more versatile. The formula is a bit soft. So there's some powder fallout. I've heard it breaks easily because it's so soft, so I can't carry it around. It's a shame because it has a big mirror and a wide pan that would be great for on-the-go touch-ups. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 20, 2019
Fine shimmer particles Excellent color payoff Slim compact case Gives skin a beautiful glow Requires a high-quality brush for best application Can emphasize pores Unreliable staying power Inconvenient without an included brush Can also be applied effectively with fingers - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 22, 2019
This is my holy grail highlighter! I'm on my fourth bottle, haha. I can't live without it! Just be careful though... it's quite fragile. It really turns to powder if you're not gentle. Try carrying it separately in a deep part of your bag instead of in your makeup pouch! - sk*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 21, 2019
I keep using it because it's free of trendy ingredients! The color payoff is great and I don't regret buying it. The color is a bit too warm-toned... I wish they had options for cool-toned skin as well. - un*******Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJan 18, 2019
The pearl particles are incredibly fine and adhere well to the skin. The peachy gold pearl creates a natural skin glow. Personally, I prefer highlighters with smaller particles, so the color payoff is absolutely fantastic. Plus, the amount is so generous that it feels like it'll last a lifetime. The large mirror is also great, though I wouldn't carry it around for fear of breaking it! Controlling the amount and blending is extremely, extremely challenging. I'm not sure if it's my lack of skill, but it's as difficult to work with as NARS Orgasm in terms of potentially creating an overly shiny look. If you apply it incorrectly, you might end up with a T-zone that shines like a golden Buddha statue or looking like a highway reflector caught in headlights at midnight. On the flip side, this could be seen as an advantage for creating dramatic looks? Since it's gold shimmer, even if you apply a lot, you won't look like a futuristic cyborg from the end times. I've been applying it with a fan brush. Since the particles are fine and adhere well, making blending tricky, I apply it lightly multiple times. I barely touch the brush to the product, tap off the excess thoroughly, and build it up in layers. - tj********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 14, 2019
Apply it to the right spots on your face and boom! The glow pops! It's a definite highlighter. Perfect for those who love a bold makeup look. I wanted a subtle highlighter, but the shimmer particles are too large. Not recommended for those with visible pores or uneven skin texture. The shimmer gets stuck in pores and accentuates any unevenness. - an*******Combination SkinRecommendedJan 1, 2019
I finally bought and started using The Balm's famous highlighter! It's already so popular that many people seem to be using it. First off, it naturally brightens the skin! It really makes you look beautiful in photos~ The downside... Maybe because it's gold, it feels a bit yellowish, if I have to say. Anyway... that's disappointing. There also seems to be a bit of excess powder. I don't plan to repurchase, unfortunately!
