I initially went in to buy the Pure Essence Sun Cream as a body sunscreen, but ended up grabbing this one as part of a 1+1 deal. What a happy accident! After trying it, I noticed its pink base gave me a radiant and pretty brightening effect. It reminded me of the IOPE tone-up base sunscreen I used to wear daily in high school. On good skin days, applying just this product alone gave me a makeup-like finish. It's perfect for a foundation-free look, creating a clear, translucent, and radiant complexion with a bit of coverage. It's especially great at minimizing the appearance of pores... no primer needed! When I applied this before foundation, it made my skin look even brighter and more radiant. I remember people commenting on how fair my skin looked when I wore this out. Come to think of it, I bought this last August and have been using it for 7 months now... Throughout this time, I haven't experienced any blemishes, though I occasionally felt some itchiness around my nose (but I tend to get that with any sunscreen). I've been using it daily with great satisfaction, nearly emptying the entire tube. On bad skin days, it tended to clump around my nose and eyebrows, and emphasized dead skin cells. I'm not sure if it's mineral, chemical, or a hybrid sunscreen, but it felt quite thick and difficult to apply. Occasionally, when applied over thick skincare or before products were fully absorbed, it would pill like dead skin. I had a Lancôme sunscreen that I stopped using because it was too oily, so I left it unused. Since this one felt quite thick and dry, I wondered if mixing them might work well... and it does! I was worried about potential blemishes from mixing products, but I didn't experience any. With this sunscreen, rather than rubbing it in, it's best to dot it all over your face and then pat it in with your fingertips. This method helps it apply smoothly without any patchiness. After application, wait about 10 minutes for it to absorb and blend with your complexion. I usually wait 10-15 minutes before applying foundation. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 28, 2018
Noticeable brightening effect with a matte finish. High SPF protection and affordable price. Could work well as a makeup base, with a slightly peachy tone. No blemishes after use, and I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit. It feels a bit thick when applying. Extremely drying! Also seems a bit stiff. While the absorption isn't terrible, it might be too heavy for those with dry skin. I mix it with other rich sunscreens. It leaves my skin feeling comfortably hydrated yet matte, so I'm using it regularly. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAug 20, 2017
I don't do separate skin makeup, so I specifically chose this whitening sunscreen. For me, it doesn't get oily and finishes matte, and it becomes more natural-looking over time. It also helps cover blackheads and things like that a bit because of the whitening effect. While the whitening is good, I can't really apply the proper amount because of that. When my skin condition is bad, it can sometimes cause flakiness. And the scent is a bit strong... You have to be careful not to layer it too much. When I apply extra, my skin feels a bit stiff and it's hard to spread. I think it's causing me a bit of trouble too. It doesn't seem to be a very gentle formula.
