It seems to be good for sensitive skin! The soothing effect is excellent!
ConsDue to its watery consistency, it feels more like a toner than an essence. It's best to layer it a few times for better results.
TipIt's great to soak a cotton pad with it and leave it on your skin. It has a soothing effect and helps lower skin temperature!

You can soak a thin cotton pad and leave it on as a soothing mask (it's great for calming redness when applied to flushed cheeks). Being a water type, it absorbs well into the skin quickly. The scent is absolutely lovely - it's not artificial, but a genuine mugwort fragrance that I really enjoy.
ConsActually, when I bought this product, it came with pre-soaked pads. I wish they'd sell those separately because they're so convenient. It's a bit of a hassle to soak cotton pads myself for a mask when I'm feeling lazy... that's a shame. Using it as a toner substitute and soothing mask means you'll go through 150ml pretty quickly. If you use it often, the price can be a bit burdensome when it's not on sale.

It's like applying freshly blended fruits and vegetables to your face - while it can be beneficial, some might experience sensitivity. After trying 50ml, I can confirm it's a water-based toner. It's not meant for use with cotton pads, but rather to be applied directly to the skin. The texture is smooth with a slight slip, similar to water with a drop of serum. Without any stinging or strong fragrance, it's great for hydrating the skin in the initial skincare steps. Though called an essence, it's not a dense formula. As someone who enjoys toner-essence hybrids, I found it pleasant to use. With gentle patting, it absorbs quickly, leaving a refreshing feeling.
ConsThere's nothing particularly disappointing about this product. Just remember to check for mugwort allergies since it's the main ingredient! For those with acne-prone skin, keep in mind that initially, your skin might be sensitive to various ingredients. I recommend starting with a small amount and gradually increasing usage.

It's not overpowering, so the fragrance isn't bothersome. ✓ [Application & Absorption] It's a water-based formula without stickiness, so it applies well. It doesn't gush out of the bottle excessively when used. It absorbs quickly too. The finish is a bit sticky though. ✓ [Hydration] After using an exfoliating toner, gently pat it in with your hands. Despite its texture, it provides great hydration. If you prefer lighter products, I recommend using just one of the two.
ConsFor a soothing essence, I didn't feel much effect. I'm not sure if there's an ingredient that doesn't agree with me, but I felt a burning and tingling sensation when using it. It's also quite expensive.

During my period, my skin suddenly flared up, not only with flushing but also red blotchy patches. Every skincare product except water stung and made my skin worse. On a friend's recommendation, I tried a sample, and it immediately calmed my skin. I bought the full-size product and even stocked up on two bottles during a sale. I highly recommend this for those with super sensitive skin and redness issues! It's 100% pure mugwort extract, so the scent is herbal but not unpleasant. The fragrance is actually healing, and the mugwort helps soothe and hydrate irritated skin.
ConsThe only downside is that the price-to-volume ratio always seems a bit disappointing. Although it's labeled as an essence, it feels more like a toner. This leads to using it quite liberally, which is a shame because it's expensive and should be used sparingly.
TipWhen your skin is acting up, try soaking cotton pads with this and applying them as a skin pack. It helps reduce redness and provides deep hydration. After eyebrow waxing, using this as a skin pack on cotton pads works even better for quick soothing than aloe vera.

It's not an artificial fragrance, but feels like real steeped mugwort, making it a pleasure to apply. Note that this scent might not be for everyone. - The consistency is watery, so you can apply it like a toner using the '3-skin method' or use it for a cotton pad mask. - The hydration doesn't evaporate quickly, leaving your skin feeling moisturized. The gentle ingredients make it soft on the skin. - The container is plastic-like, not glass, making it lightweight. (Other products in Hanyul's mugwort line can feel heavy due to glass packaging.)
Cons- I've been using Hanyul's mugwort line for my skincare routine and added this essence, but even after two bottles, I haven't noticed any significant improvements. Rather than expecting dramatic results, I'd recommend this to those looking for a mild, watery essence with gentle ingredients.

It has a subtle mugwort fragrance that's not too strong or bothersome, which I really appreciate. 2. No standout ingredients, and that's a plus. There's nothing particularly noteworthy in the ingredient list, which is actually great. It's reassuring that there are no components likely to irritate sensitive skin, so there's no need to scrutinize the formula. 3. Tried a sample before purchasing. My skin was in terrible condition with sun allergies, seasonal changes, food allergies, and even unexplained blisters. I stopped using all my products and tried this one exclusively for a week based on a store employee's recommendation. I was so satisfied that I bought the full-size product. 4. Effectiveness. My skin was swollen, stinging, and felt like it would crack at the slightest breeze - except around my eyes. After soaking a cotton pad with the essence and leaving it on for about 5 minutes, the itching and stinging subsided, and I could see the swelling start to go down. It definitely has a calming effect. I also feel like my complexion is gradually becoming clearer. 5. Hydration and oil balance. Since my skin was in such bad shape, I was afraid to use multiple products and stuck to just this essence. Surprisingly, it didn't leave my skin feeling tight, and the oil level was just right. It didn't cause any blemishes, itching, or stickiness. It's perfectly gentle and adequately moisturizing.
ConsI wish they offered a larger size than the current one! The price is a bit steep when it's not on sale, which is disappointing.
TipIn the morning, I gently wipe my face with a cotton pad soaked in the essence before cleansing. After washing, I pat the essence onto my skin with my hands and press it in gently, which leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Around 2-3 PM, when my face starts to feel oily and uncomfortable, I lightly wipe it with a cotton pad soaked in the essence. This removes excess oil, leaving my skin feeling fresh. In the evening, I wipe my face with it before cleansing, and after washing, I leave it on like a mask for about 5 minutes. This helps calm my skin quickly and works wonders.

But it wasn't particularly off-putting. It seems to have a calming effect too...? I liked that the amount was easy to control.
ConsThe finish isn't fresh at all, it feels quite rich. Doesn't help with acne or sebum control...
TipIt was nice to put it in a spray bottle and keep it in the fridge to spritz on after working out. However, before bed, I don't like feeling oily, so... meh.

The texture is slightly thinner than a snail mucin essence, so I applied it by patting it onto my skin with a cotton pad after my exfoliating toner. While I don't have blemish-prone skin, so I can't speak to its soothing effects, I found that layering it multiple times provided decent hydration. I also appreciated the subtle mugwort scent, which wasn't overpowering. After absorption, it leaves a slight film-like feeling, which might feel a bit heavy for those with oily skin. Because of this, I think it would be better suited for use during seasonal changes or winter rather than summer. If you're a fan of mugwort-based skincare, this is definitely a product worth trying!
ConsThe product is difficult to dispense... You need to shake it vigorously to get it out. While it's better than a watery toner that just runs out, it's still a bit inconvenient. Also, the price is a bit steep. It feels more like a toner than an essence, and the volume isn't particularly generous, so the price might be a deterrent when considering repurchasing.

After using the Hwahae app for 5 years, I finally got the chance to be a tester. What a stroke of luck! To get to the point, this essence was perfect for my skin - it's packed with great ingredients that my skin just drinks up! As someone with incredibly sensitive senses, I loved that: 1. The mugwort scent was subtle and pleasant. 2. The texture was clearer and lighter than I expected for an essence. 3. The gentle ingredients made me feel confident using it without worry.
ConsWhile I didn't find many downsides, there are a couple of points to mention: 1. Due to its light texture, it might not be suitable for combination and sensitive skin types like mine (thin skin texture, slight redness, fair complexion) during the harshest winter days when temperatures plummet below freezing. It's probably best used from late spring to early fall. 2. The price point is a bit steep - I might not have tried it if I wasn't part of The Hwahae Testers program. Other than these two points, I'm thoroughly satisfied with this product!
TipAt 31, I've only recently started dealing with adult acne, visiting several dermatologists to figure out the cause. Just as I was getting a handle on it, this tester product arrived like magic. I was skeptical at first, but I decided to use it as a daily mask routine, applying it with a cotton pad on my chin where I frequently get acne. After about a week of nightly use, I noticed the inflammation subsiding and the blemishes improving. I was amazed to see how effective the mugwort was in calming my skin. This unexpected benefit has really boosted my confidence in this essence!
