This lip balm is all you need to banish dry lip worries. It effectively softens dead skin cells on the lips. Apply it before bed, and wake up to smooth, supple lips in the morning. Among all the lip balms I own, this is the only one that maintains hydration until the next day. (I've previously used Laneige, Primera, and Second Design.) I have sensitive lips, but I finished a whole jar without any blemishes and repurchased it. It's on sale at Aritaum, cheaper than Olive Young! According to Pihyunjung's blog, among Carmex lip balms, the jar type has the best ingredients. Highly recommended for those with dry and super sensitive skin. The jar format can be a bit inconvenient to apply. I'm using a small spatula that comes with face creams to scoop and apply it. - Hwahae UserDry SkinDec 16, 2021
I finally bought this after hearing so much buzz, and it's truly the best lip balm I've tried. It keeps my lips moisturized until morning without feeling greasy or heavy. Love it! The product itself is really great, but I'm quite disappointed with the ingredients list. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 24, 2021
I love that it comes in a jar, so I can scoop out just the right amount I need! The hydration is great too. The downside of it being in a jar is that it tends to collect a lot of dust, which is a bit disappointing. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMar 17, 2021
My lips get so dry that I need to apply lip balm even in summer, but this product keeps them moisturized and significantly reduces dead skin cells, which I love. The cool, refreshing scent is an added bonus. There's not really anything to complain about, but if I had to nitpick, it's a jar-type product that you have to apply directly with your fingers. In these COVID times, it's best used at home, which somewhat limits its portability. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 4, 2020
My lips often get dry, and I have both dead skin cells and wrinkles, so I absolutely need to take care of them. I always have to carry lip balm with me, whether I'm out or at home! For outdoor use, I prefer lip balms that aren't greasy, tame dead skin cells, and provide good hydration. For home use, as long as it softens dead skin cells and moisturizes, I'm okay with it! 📌 Great value for money I tried this product when it was on sale, and the amount you get for the price is generous. As I mentioned, I always have lip balm with me, so I go through it quickly, but this one lasted a really long time. 📌 Softens dead skin cells Rather than just taming dead skin cells, it actually softens them. If I apply it to my lips for a short while before putting on makeup, I can easily wipe away the dead skin with a cotton swab. 📌 Cooling effect It has a mild menthol sensation along with a refreshing cooling effect. The tingling and cooling sensations are less intense than 'Blistex' lip balm, making it suitable for use in both winter and summer. (Personally, I found Carmex worked better for me than Blistex) 📌 Minimal stickiness While it does have a slight sheen, it doesn't feel sticky. It contains quite a few potential allergens. I sometimes get little bumps around the corners of my mouth, which could be due to the lip balm... It's disappointing that the ingredients aren't particularly good. The scent is not great. It's like a mix of mentholated ointment and butter... Anyway, the fragrance is so strong that people around you can tell you've applied lip balm - I'm not a fan of that at all! Also, rather than absorbing, it feels like it just sits on top of your lips. If you try to apply lip makeup over this balm, it just floats on top... For home use, it's an okay lip balm with a decent amount of product, but I've never found it particularly impressive. In summary, it's just a lip balm that's good for softening dead skin cells and frequent application at home, nothing special! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 23, 2020
I've used this product in both stick and jar form. My lips were so dry they felt like turtle shells, stinging badly. Even prescription ointments from the doctor didn't help much. I fell in love with the stick's hydration, so I bought the jar version too. The moisturizing power is undeniable. It completely smooths out dead skin cells on the lips. It's colorless and feels a bit thick at first, but melts and absorbs well. There's a slight stickiness initially, but it disappears over time. The texture is similar to Vaseline, but the feel and tackiness are completely different. Carmex is less sticky on the lips, better for daily use. Hydration-wise, they're neck and neck. The scent is divisive. I was put off at first too. Charitably, it's a cool mint fragrance. More commonly, it's described as medicinal. It's refreshing and cooling with each application. The stick is more convenient to use. The jar is a bit of a hassle as you need to apply it with your fingers. Highly recommended for those with flaky, dry, or wrinkled lips. I'm disappointed by the ingredients list given its hydrating power, so I'm deducting a star. I have sensitive skin and used this when my lips were in bad shape, luckily it didn't cause any adverse reactions and provided good moisture. The cooling sensation can be quite intense. It feels refreshingly cool after brushing your teeth, but it's quite strong. Only recommended for those who enjoy this sensation. Being colorless, it can sometimes make your lips look sickly. Also, be careful when eating or drinking after application, as it can leave a white residue around your mouth. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 1, 2020
Hydration - The moisturizing power is superior to other lip balms! It's really great to apply frequently during winter. When I use this, my lips feel moist and smooth, so I find myself applying it often. The hydration is so good that even after trying other lip balm products, I always come back to Carmex. Dead skin cell care - My lips used to have a lot of dead skin, which I'd pick at, causing bleeding. But after buying Carmex lip balm, the dead skin was gone in just a week! If you want to focus on dead skin cell care, I recommend buying the jar or tube type rather than the stick. For everyday moisture, the stick type is great. Quantity - I use it generously with a cotton swab for dead skin cell care, and the amount lasts for months. It's a beast of a quantity! I use about 2-3 containers a year. Portability - Its small size makes it perfect to keep in your pocket or pouch and apply when your lips start feeling dry. I bought a limited edition collaboration product, and I love looking at the cute case while applying it frequently when my lips feel dry. It's small and portable, but I'm a bit clumsy and lost it once! Cooling effect - There's a slight mint scent, and when applied to the lips, it gives a cool sensation. Some people find it a bit strong, but personally, I like mint-flavored things like toothpaste and ice cream, so I enjoy using it. The cooling effect is just my style! Melts easily - It has a thick texture, but if you keep it in a warm place like your pocket, it melts and becomes runny, making it difficult to use... I recommend storing it in a cool place for better use. If you take good care of your lips, you can confidently rock even matte lipsticks! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 14, 2020
It works wonders when applied to dry lips. Slather it on generously in winter, and your lips stay moisturized even in the cold. Even after trying other lip balms, I find myself reaching for Carmex again and again. It feels like it sits on top of the lips rather than absorbing. It's not ideal to use before applying lipstick as it can alter the color. The scent might also be hit or miss for some people. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJan 10, 2020
Highly recommended for nighttime lip care to treat dead skin cells. After a day of wearing tints and other lip products that dry out my lips, I always make sure to apply lip balm before bed. I've tried many lip balms, but Carmex is the only one that leaves my lips moisturized without feeling greasy, and it effectively removes flaky skin. This is my holy grail product. Well, I'd like to try something else, but the amount you get is surprisingly generous. Honestly, I'm so satisfied with it that I don't have any major complaints. Apply a thick layer at night before going to bed. During the day, a thin layer works well without feeling too rich. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 20, 2019
Its hydrating power is off the charts compared to Uriage, Nivea, Bioderma, Isoi, and Primera. It gives a smooth, soothing feeling that calms the skin instantly. Plus, it's great for exfoliating dead skin cells! Only the jar version is free from mineral oil. I think there was one more product without it, but you might want to check Director Pi's blog for details. While mineral oil is a controversial ingredient, I personally believe it's better to avoid it (just my opinion though!). The jar packaging feels a bit unhygienic to me. They've been releasing limited edition designs lately, and they're absolutely gorgeous. I picked one up at Olive Young!
