Super sensitive - one wrong product and I break out in blemishes or my skin goes haywire. In my late 20s, after 20 toning sessions followed by skydiving, frequent Southeast Asian trips, and hobbies like hiking and cycling, I noticed more dark spots and thinner skin compared to before the toning. I decided consistent home care was better for managing hyperpigmentation than further toning treatments. Can't give up Southeast Asian travel and hiking, so I've essentially accepted the dark spots. People say my skin looks good for someone in their 40s who's often outdoors. I always check ingredients for safety on the Hwahae app before purchasing. I buy products recommended by YouTuber Reina or find alternatives with similar ingredients. Why I bought it: I heard retinol can cause skin reactions in some people, so I started with Dr. Different Vita Lift A to introduce retinol. After confirming my skin tolerates it well, I felt ready for a higher concentration and purchased this product. Application and effects: As it's a water-based serum, the texture wasn't ideal for my dry skin, so I mixed it with Dr. Different Vita Lift. Many people commented that my sun-damaged summer skin looked brighter again. I apply The Ordinary Matrixyl first, then this product. Matrixyl has been discontinued and replaced with a peptide formula, I believe. My evening routine: Matrixyl (peptide) - retinol - cream My morning routine: Innovative Vitamin C, E, Ferulic - cream - sunscreen This regimen has noticeably improved my dark spots. Once I finish this 0.2% concentration, I've already purchased the 0.5% to level up. Of course, this can't compare to professional toning treatments at a dermatologist's office, which work faster if you can afford them and have good skin condition. Just be cautious with dark spots, as improper treatment can make them worse. Additional products I use as needed: Abib Gummy Sheet Mask Serum + Cream Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (brown bottle) Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream Bepanthen Ointment
ConsOccasionally causes a stinging sensation and small blemishes may appear the next day. It's crucial to carefully control the amount used. As someone with dry skin, I wish it came in a cream form rather than just a water-based formula.

However, I occasionally experience some blemishes...
ConsI bought the one with the lowest concentration of retinol, worried it might not suit me. Sometimes when my skin isn't in great condition, it feels a bit harsh and I get what seems like blemishes...

What's truly impressive is how visibly it reduces pores after just one application.
ConsEven though it's only 0.2%, it still causes a slight tingling and itching sensation. I might need to switch back to the 0.1% version.

At least that's the impression I get.
ConsPerhaps because it's oil-based, my skin reacted badly the very next day after application. Tiny whiteheads popped up all over, like a sudden outbreak of milia. The irritation spread across my entire face... I tossed it after just two uses.

That's really all I can say about it. For those who find it suits them well, there probably isn't a better cosmetic product out there.
ConsI don't even have super sensitive skin, but throughout the month-and-a-half adjustment period, my skin would itch every time I applied it. Even when I only used it twice a week, it was still an issue. In the end, I couldn't adapt to it, so I'm stepping off this product train.

ConsAfter using this, I'm not sure if it's causing acne, but I'm experiencing blemishes on my skin
TipI recommend gradually increasing the amount when you first start using it

The Ordinary products all seem to have this lightweight quality.
ConsUnfortunately, I didn't notice any improvement after using it. Maybe it's because I only used it for a day.
TipTry mixing it with a hydrating moisturizer for better results.

ConsI bought this because it was supposed to be good for pores! As it was my first time using retinol, I applied a small amount every other night. But from the second use, I started getting tiny bumps all over! They were itchy, and spread from one area to my entire face... I've never had such a bad reaction in my life, despite trying various skincare products. I thought maybe my skin was just sensitive lately, so I stopped using retinol for a week. My skin returned to normal, so I thought it might have been an adjustment period and started using it again. But within 4 days, the bumps came back! I'm not sure if it's because of my oily skin or if retinol just doesn't suit me... If you're considering buying this, even if you don't think you have sensitive skin like me, please think carefully before purchasing. When I went to the dermatologist, I was diagnosed with folliculitis! It seems the oil-based formula didn't agree with me, rather than the retinol itself. If you have oily skin, DO NOT USE THIS! Since using this, my skin has become so sensitive that I can't apply just anything anymore. It's really challenging to find products without harmful ingredients for folliculitis. My skin has completely changed - I don't get other types of blemishes besides folliculitis now, and while it's relatively sensitive, it's 'clean' in a way? I'm not sure if that's good or bad... If you really want to try it, stop immediately if you notice any issues. This is the first time I've ever left a review like this...

You can mix it with various cosmetics, making it versatile enough to use on your neck and body as well.
ConsIt caused my acne to flare up and my skin to redden. Unfortunately, it didn't suit me. I stopped using it for a while, then tried again, but inflammation appeared once more, so I can't use it. It even caused blemishes on my neck.

Plus, it has squalane as a bonus!
ConsWhen I apply this alone, I notice little bumps appearing on either side of my nose. Is it because it's too rich? This didn't happen with other products, but I've noticed it three times in a row with this one, so it's going in the trash...
TipAs everyone knows, only apply it at night, wash thoroughly the next morning, and sunscreen is a must. For retinol, it's best to go with specialized companies...
