I've been using this for just over a week now. There's a noticeable improvement in my skin texture and pores. Rather than dramatic results, I can feel the difference compared to when I wasn't using it. While my pores haven't completely disappeared, they're definitely less noticeable. I believe consistent use will surely show more benefits. It feels quite oily! But I guess that's to be expected since it's an oil. The shelf life is quite short - only 3 months after opening. It needs to be stored in the refrigerator. This product seems to work hard on improving skin texture and minimizing the appearance of pores. While it may not provide instant, dramatic results, the gradual improvement is evident. The oily texture might be a drawback for some, especially those with combination dehydrated skin. The short shelf life and need for refrigeration are also factors to consider. However, for those looking to even their skin tone and address blemishes, this could be a worthwhile addition to their skincare routine, particularly if they're willing to commit to consistent use. - uo******Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedJun 22, 2025
It's truly amazing for pores... The results are visibly noticeable After using it in the evening, I woke up the next morning to find my pores had really shrunk.. Using it on its own is too irritating for my skin Mixing it with a cream makes it more tolerable and less harsh! It's good, but I don't plan on using 0.5% retinol. I'll need to find a product with a lower concentration. Won't be repurchasing this one. Works hard on minimizing pores Visible improvement in skin texture May cause irritation if used alone Better when mixed with a moisturizer Consider lower retinol concentrations if you have sensitive skin - lo******Combination SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 20, 2025
After using it for about a week, I feel like my skin has brightened a bit. Since I have oily skin, this product alone is sufficient. It would be better if it had less of an oily feel. It feels a bit heavy during the summer. - rh*******Combination SkinAcne SkinRednessRecommendedJun 11, 2025
- ha************Dry SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesRecommendedJun 11, 2025
Review of The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane: This product may be intense for those with super sensitive skin, but it's one of the gentler retinol options out there. A big plus is that it's quite affordable considering its effectiveness. I occasionally experience blemishes, which might indicate some irritation for my skin. It's best to apply this product sparingly when your skin barrier is strong, gradually increasing usage as you observe its effects. Avoid using this when your skin is feeling sensitive. When your skin barrier is in good condition, start by applying a small amount to your cheeks. Monitor your skin's reaction and slowly expand the application area if all goes well. - gy********Dry SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 10, 2025
Honest Review of Retinol Ampoule ✔ Skin Type: Oily / Low Sensitivity ✔ Usage Period: About 2 weeks ✔ Main Effects: Pore refinement / Skin texture improvement / Dead skin cell removal 💡 Initial Reaction While there wasn't any significant irritation upon application, I experienced very mild peeling around the chin area during the first 2-3 days. There was no deep dryness or burning sensation; it felt more like a gentle exfoliation process rather than dryness. 👃 Texture & Absorption The serum has a thin consistency, but it's not runny. When applied to the back of the hand, it spreads lightly and adheres with a nice bounce. It absorbs quickly, so it doesn't sit on top of the skin, making it easy to layer with other products. 🔍 Effectiveness I noticed quite an improvement in pore appearance. It felt like it was effectively clearing out any congested sebum, resulting in smoother skin texture and better makeup application. Although I didn't use it frequently, I was satisfied with how it seemed to refine my skin and slightly improve elasticity. ✅ Recommended Usage Use 2-3 times a week in the evening as a standalone product Mix with a hydrating, soothing cream on dry days Recommended for those concerned about pores and skin texture For sensitive skin, start with a small amount as a patch test 🧼 Precautions You might experience slight peeling the day after first use, so be sure to follow up with hydrating and soothing skincare. Avoid applying to thin-skinned areas like around the mouth and eyes! After using it overnight, you'll wake up to skin that feels firm and smooth. ✔ Definite effects on pore tightening and sebum control ✔ Promotes skin cell turnover ✔ Noticeable skin texture improvement without irritation ✔ However, hydration is crucial on dry days I experienced very mild peeling around the chin area during the first 2-3 days. The Hwahae Testers would likely appreciate this detailed and balanced review of the retinol ampoule. It provides valuable insights into the product's effects on combination dehydrated skin and offers practical tips for usage, which is particularly helpful for those with super sensitive skin. The review effectively highlights the product's benefits for addressing blemishes, pores, and overall complexion while also noting the importance of maintaining proper oil and moisture balance when using retinol products. - su******Oily SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 1, 2025
First off, it seems that applying retinol, a vitamin A derivative, is really helping to calm down my blemish-prone skin! While many people might reach for cica products for acne care, I'd cautiously recommend retinol products to those who haven't seen results with other treatments. Among these, The Ordinary's product stands out - it's stripped of all frills, focusing solely on retinol, making it an affordable option. In my opinion, it's one of the best value-for-money products out there. While this doesn't apply to me, those with super sensitive skin might need an adjustment period, starting with products containing lower retinol concentrations. Also, retinol can accelerate skin cell turnover, leading to increased dead skin cells, which might be challenging if you wear makeup frequently. In my case, I use a multi-balm from Daiso to cover any flaking. Try using this product at night, and if you have a beauty device, use them together. Since this product is oil-based, it doesn't absorb quickly, allowing you to use your beauty device for longer with just a small amount. The tingling sensation makes it feel like it's penetrating deep into the skin. - wl********Combination SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedMay 31, 2025
Even though I have relatively thick skin, I experienced some tingling and itching - similar to how vitamin C products feel? Apparently, beginners should start with concentrations below 0.5% and gradually increase the strength. Since it can cause some eye sensitivity, I found it difficult to use frequently. Instead, I applied it with niacinamide on Fridays or before days off for intensive care (using them together is said to improve skin quickly). + While I can't claim it produces miraculous results, my skin does look better than when I don't use it. After application, my skin felt a bit dry, so on days I used it, I made sure to apply a moisturizing product before bed. Higher-strength retinol products should be used quickly after opening, but although the bottle is small, there's quite a lot of product. It seems tight to use it all within 2-3 months (since it's not for daily use, purchasing a smaller size might be better). As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I found this retinol product to be a bit of a double-edged sword. While it works hard to improve my complexion, it can be a bit harsh on my super sensitive skin. I'd recommend layering it with a hydrating serum to combat the deep dryness it can cause. Also, be aware of potential redness or irritation, especially if you're new to retinol. Remember, when it comes to retinol, less is often more - start slow and build up your skin's tolerance over time. - ba******RecommendedMay 10, 2025
I've been using this for two weeks now on my combination skin. I started to worry about fine lines, so I've been applying 3-4 drops every night (except when my skin feels super sensitive). Since then, I haven't had any major blemishes, and my skin feels firmer and more supple. So far, I don't have any major reasons to not recommend it. I'm planning to use it consistently for three months. - tu*****Oily SkinMay 4, 2025
It's affordable and I felt like it improved my skin texture. I can't say much about other aspects. I have oily skin, and this product was too greasy, which actually made my sebum production worse. Also, when I used this along with The Ordinary's Niacin, I got a severe breakout of small bumps, so I had to stop using it. I wouldn't recommend this for oily skin types.
