As someone with a 21 shade complexion, I always go for the Petal shade from Espoir! It's not a yellow base, but rather an ivory with a subtle pink undertone that gives a lovely brightening effect. It's just perfect for adding a touch of radiance! The formula is quite fluid, which means it sets quickly. It's truly the epitome of matte, making it ideal for those with oily skin types! The thin consistency can be a bit tricky - when you squeeze it onto your palette, it tends to run down the sides of the tube. Also, while it's a common issue with most products, it's a bit disappointing that it fades quickly in areas where oil production is high. - ga*********Oily SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 7, 2025
The compact case is so luxurious, and the coverage is excellent. It doesn't settle into pores much either. Plus, it's not too big, making it perfect for on-the-go touch-ups. Honestly, there wasn't anything particularly bad about it. Even when applied casually, it goes on in a thin, even layer by itself. - ki*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 20, 2025
I've been using it for about half a year. I'm satisfied with the color and application. It works well with damp puffs or cushion puffs. When I use it, the longevity is decent - I can go to work without needing to reapply, and for appointments I just need a quick touch-up with the cushion. I haven't experienced any breakouts while using it. When I use and close it, the lid gets too much of the contents on it :( - a0**********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 3, 2025
I was using the cushion foundation and loved it so much that I kept recommending it to my friends. Then I received the liquid foundation as a gift and I'm currently using it. I usually use shades 21 or 22, and this color feels just right - bright enough while matching my skin tone. I focus mainly on covering redness, and this foundation has great coverage! These days, I'm only using this one. The lid of the case seems to scratch the pump area a bit when closing. However, it's not severe enough to be a real inconvenience, so it's okay. Other than that, I can't think of any other issues. - ze********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 9, 2025
No joke, I'm on my 6th bottle after finishing 5 already. I'm using it so comfortably, highly recommend! My skin is super sensitive and usually breaks out with anything I apply, but this doesn't cause blemishes! -> That's amazing. (To give you an idea of how sensitive my skin is, I can use the foundation from the same line, but the cushion makes me break out. My skin reacts to almost everything.) There's barely any darkening -> Fantastic. The price isn't too high, so I can use it generously. I like that it doesn't set too quickly. If your skin gets scratched or someone pinches your cheeks, it peels off like a fingerprint, you know? But I think that's because I'm lazy and apply it roughly with a puff. It seems like using a spatula to scoop it out and applying thinly with a thin puff would solve the issue. - dh*********Dehydrated SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessDead Skin CellsRecommendedMar 3, 2025
This matte foundation has great staying power without drying out or caking! It lasted from morning to evening without needing touch-ups, maintaining its initial appearance. There was no darkening, and it applies thinly. If you don't prep your skin well, it might slightly emphasize dead skin cells! But this can be solved by starting with a hydrating base and locking in moisture. So it's not really a drawback. It does seem a bit lighter than my usual shade! I recommend applying it in multiple thin layers! Applying too much at once can make it look heavy. - rl*******Dehydrated SkinFeb 11, 2025
The Espoir shade seems to blend seamlessly with my complexion without looking out of place. The color isn't too yellow or too pink (or grayish), and there's no darkening effect. Espoir is my favorite brand for color matching! Other brands often lean too yellow or pink, making it hard to find a good match, but Espoir's shades work best for me. They nail that perfect ivory tone! It's a shade that most Koreans would love without much debate. While I'm a big fan of the Espoir brand overall, their Be Velvet foundation doesn't seem to work well for me. This product requires a lot of effort and attention to apply properly. It's not an easy, everyday-use kind of product, which makes me less inclined to reach for it. As a result, it often sits unused after purchase. Personally, I prefer products that apply easily, but this one demands careful attention every time, making it challenging for daily use. The thick and matte combination makes it prone to pilling. When applied with fingers, it accentuates dead skin cells, laugh lines, and every pore. Everything that could possibly look uneven on the face does, plus it applies thickly. Even with careful application, these issues persist, so it requires a lot of effort. It's far from the modern, skin-like, thin layer makeup look. Instead, it focuses on high coverage with a thicker skin finish. I'd recommend this to someone prioritizing coverage, but for daily use, I'm not so sure. It's not as easy as a daily product should be, and the final look isn't as natural as you'd want for everyday wear. - sh******Combination SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedFeb 5, 2025
As someone who usually wears shade 21, this color matched me perfectly and looked natural! I love that it has good coverage without being too matte. It's really difficult to use up the last bit of foundation when the bottle is almost empty. Also, it's quite heavy, making it inconvenient to carry when traveling. - 94*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedJan 18, 2025
My honest review in one line: 'Can a drugstore brand really produce such high-quality foundation?' In summer, I usually avoid makeup as it tends to melt, makes me look hot, and feels uncomfortable on my skin. However, remembering my positive experience with Espoir's Be Glow, I decided to try their Be Velvet. After applying a solid base (crucial!), I put on the foundation. Eight hours later, when I looked in the mirror to remove my makeup, I was shocked - the foundation was still perfectly intact! No sliding, no caking, and the coverage was phenomenal, concealing all blemishes. It even filled in my pores, maintaining a clean, matte finish for 8 hours straight. While I haven't tried high-end matte foundations, I'm left wondering if there's even a need to with Espoir's Be Velvet around. The quality is simply unbelievable... Though it's already popular, given its quality, I believe this should become a national holy grail product! If only they could lower the price a bit... It seems pricier than expected. A solid skincare base is essential to prevent the foundation from separating. If you skimp on skincare, the foundation might not adhere well. - su********Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresRecommendedDec 14, 2024
Compared to VDL, I found that Espoir has much better staying power on my face and doesn't break down as easily. Even when it does wear off, it fades beautifully. It does tend to apply a bit thickly, but its longevity and coverage are absolutely unbeatable. As you use it, the case gets incredibly dirty - probably the dirtiest I've ever seen. It's so messy that I'm honestly too embarrassed to show you. Let's make sure to clean the nozzle well while using it...
