I think I've gone through about 4-5 bottles so far! While it's a base product without coverage, I layer it thinly with a puff to help with my redness. Not only do I prefer a more natural look, but my friends have also mentioned that my skin looks better than when I use foundation or cushion compacts. It seems that lighter makeup doesn't clog my pores as much, resulting in less skin irritation and fewer blemishes when cleansing.
ConsAs it's a lightweight base product, the staying power isn't great and it comes off easily with water or sweat. (Personally, I prefer this as it's less burdensome to remove, but some might not like it.) If you apply the Hince base after using skincare products with high oil content, the base can pill a bit. While it feels moisturizing when first applied, it tends to dry out over time.
TipThis product doesn't contain irritating ingredients, so you can reapply it multiple times without worry. Although I mentioned that it comes off easily as a downside, you can simply reapply it. It's also convenient to carry around for touch-ups. I recommend using a cushion puff instead of your fingers to apply it. When I used my hands, the heat caused my skin to feel warm and the application wasn't even. Using a cushion puff is highly recommended! While you can't expect much coverage, if you're looking for a base that brightens dull skin and evens out your complexion, I'd suggest trying the Hince Skin Tone-Up Base.

I also appreciated not having to use a separate sunscreen product.
ConsThe staying power is severely lacking. I applied it alone before going out, and it had completely worn off my forehead in less than an hour. After using it for three consecutive days, I developed cystic acne on skin that rarely breaks out after proper care. I also have quite a bit of dead skin cells, and sometimes you can see the product pilling immediately after application.
TipThis might work better for covering under-eye dark circles rather than as an all-over face product!

I was thrilled to be selected for The Hwahae Testers to review this product! I'll share my detailed thoughts after using it for about a week. Ingredients: When choosing cosmetics, ingredients are extremely important to me! Hince's Second Skin Tone-Up Base really impressed me in this aspect. It didn't cause any discomfort or blemishes when used! I loved that it helps maintain healthy skin. Application: It applies very moisturizing while finishing matte and soft. I have combination dehydrated skin that becomes oilier in summer, so I felt this was more suitable for use in the hot summer months. When applied, it creates a smooth, glowing complexion due to its hydrating nature. Color and Coverage: I have cool-toned skin with a lot of redness, so I chose the muted green shade! It naturally brightens the complexion by one shade. It also somewhat corrects pores and uneven texture, making the skin look much better. However, it doesn't provide coverage, so freckles and blemishes remain visible (which is expected for a tone-up base, right?!). I found it great to use with concealer for a transparent, lightweight, and beautiful skin look.
ConsLongevity: The staying power was a bit disappointing. Right after application, it created a clean and soft finish, but when I was out and exposed to the wind, the base seemed to wear off, giving a 'flying away' feeling. Price: I think the price might feel slightly burdensome compared to the amount if it's not on sale.
TipOverall, I think it's a high-quality product. I'm inclined to purchase and use it myself.

Has a subtle sunscreen-like fragrance, but not bothersome. (May be hit or miss depending on personal preference) ✅ Sun protection: Unlike most tone-up bases with weak UV protection requiring additional sunscreen, this product offers high SPF, eliminating the need for separate sunscreen. ✅ Design: Compact size fits well in a makeup pouch. Small opening allows for easy and precise amount control. ✅ Color: Light mint with a white undertone. Imagine a typical green color corrector with a drop of sky blue. ✅ Feel on skin: Neither too greasy nor too matte. Adheres well with cushions or foundations without caking or separating, and doesn't cause deep dryness. The lack of milia or inflammatory acne suggests good ingredients. ✅ Tone-up effect: Compared to other tone-up creams, it provides a noticeable yet natural brightening effect. Also fills in pores, preventing foundation or cushion from settling into them.
Cons🔴 Focuses more on evening skin tone than color correction, so the redness-covering effect feels minimal when applied. 🔴 When used alone or without a fixer, don't expect long-lasting coverage. (Unsure about easy wash-off, but it seems to rinse off easily with water) 🔴 Has a slightly rich texture, so those expecting a moisturizer-like finish might find it a bit heavy. 🔴 May pill or slide slightly if applied over multiple layers of skincare products.
TipIf you're using a separate sunscreen, it's best to apply this product thinly only on areas with redness or needing tone correction. For those with very dry skin who use multiple skincare layers, using a puff to apply can help prevent pilling or sliding. This product seems to pair better with foundations or cushions that give a subtle glow rather than those with a quick-matte finish.

I have a summer cool-toned complexion (19-21 shade), with almost no blemishes but prone to redness! ✔ It has great adherence! My base makeup routine goes: sunscreen -> foundation -> powder. I was worried that adding a brightening moisturizer might cause pilling, but there was absolutely no issue! The formula itself is quite fluid, so it feels light on the skin! It's perfect for those who prefer a lightweight makeup look. I've attached a photo of the texture for reference! ✔ It effectively neutralizes redness! Some brightening products just make your skin look whiter without addressing redness, but this one really helps balance out any ruddiness. It applies evenly, making it easy even for beginners to use with just a few swipes! If you're looking for a lightweight brightening moisturizer that definitely tackles redness, I highly recommend the Hince Tone-Up Base! After trying this product provided by The Hwahae Testers, I'm definitely planning to repurchase it with my own money!
ConsWhile there aren't many downsides: ✔ When used alone, the staying power isn't particularly long-lasting. ✔ The scent might be divisive - you'll either love it or hate it!
TipPro tip: I use it with a damp Real Techniques sponge, and it applies beautifully for a dewy finish!
