I tried a sample, liked it, and have been using the full-size product ever since. It feels like a slick, white, transparent serum with a slight viscosity. It goes on moisturizing and absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling soft and fresh. On makeup days, I apply it as the final step of my skincare routine, focusing on my forehead, T-zone, and butterfly zone. I have oily skin that breaks through all kinds of oil-controlling primers and matte bases, but applying this serum before makeup seems to help somewhat. Usually, my face would get shiny every hour or two, requiring frequent touch-ups to control the oil. However, with this serum, my skin stays matte for several hours, reducing the need for touch-ups, which is quite convenient. I'm using it with satisfaction. The ingredients are gentle and free from harmful substances (except for fragrance), so I feel comfortable using it even with my sensitive skin. I haven't experienced any major blemishes or irritation. It doesn't completely control oil in areas with many sebaceous glands, like the sides of the nose. Still, it's better than not using anything, and since it effectively controls oil in other areas, I think this level of performance is acceptable. - Hwahae UserDry SkinMay 31, 2023
The scent is pleasant, and the lightweight formula applies smoothly, providing a nice hydrating feel. While it may seem a bit sticky during absorption, once fully absorbed, it leaves the skin feeling soft and matte. Although it does reduce oiliness somewhat, the effect doesn't seem to last very long. Even with my dry skin, I notice some oil coming through after a while, which is disappointing. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinNov 21, 2022
⭐️ Packaging I absolutely loved the tube-type container - it's hygienic and super convenient. The narrow opening made it easy to control the amount, which was really satisfying. ⭐️ Texture and Scent It has a moisturizing cream texture! It's incredibly lightweight and absorbs well! The scent is very subtle, almost unscented, so it felt great applying it to my face without any worries! ⭐️ User Experience It absorbs incredibly fast and true to its name, it balances oil and moisture perfectly! However, as someone with combination dehydrated skin, I felt it absorbed a bit too much oil since I was already using a cream that suited me perfectly! Since some oil is necessary for the upcoming winter 🙂 The expiration date is quite generous, so I'll probably use it frequently next summer to control excess oil! As mentioned in the user experience, it's most effective when used alongside products that provide more moisture - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinNov 20, 2022
Skin type and current condition: Sensitive and slightly oily combination dehydrated skin. Struggling with milia and frequent blemishes since my skin flared up a year ago. Scent, texture, and application: The scent is strong, which I personally dislike. The texture is opaque and has a hydrating feel rather than being thick. It applies smoothly with a moisturizing sensation and absorbs incredibly fast. Positives: Excellent for improving oiliness. Although it's called a 'sebum controller', I found its strength lies in absorbing excess oil from greasy areas, leaving the skin feeling fresh rather than preventing oil production. Scent: My first impression when applying the product was that the fragrance is too strong. I wonder why they used such an intense scent for a facial product. If they removed the fragrance, which is one of the 20 notable ingredients, it would reduce the aversion to the scent and make it a more skin-friendly product. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I felt dryness in areas other than my T-zone. Also, it felt like there was an extra layer on my face that would pill when rubbed, similar to dead skin cells. Sectional use is better than all-over application: For those with combination dehydrated skin like me who feel dryness in areas other than the T-zone, it's better to use this product only on the T-zone rather than all over the face. Perfect for touch-ups! This product is better suited for your handbag than your vanity. It's great for touch-ups as it helps control oily areas while providing hydration, making it ideal for refreshing your makeup on the go. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinNov 19, 2022
What I loved was its smooth application and pleasant scent. The tube packaging made it clean and easy to use. The size was perfect for travel, fitting snugly into small bags. After applying, it absorbed quickly, giving a feeling of tightened pores. It really worked hard to control excess oil! The downside is that those with dry skin might find it a bit drying. While it feels moisturizing when you first apply it, due to its oil-controlling properties, you might experience some dryness. Here's a pro tip I discovered while using it: If you have dry skin, apply your regular moisturizer first, then lightly layer a small amount of this product only on oil-prone areas like your nose and forehead. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinNov 18, 2022
Absorption and application: The cream has a light consistency, making it easy to apply before makeup without feeling heavy. It absorbs well and glides on smoothly. Sensitivity: As someone with super sensitive skin, I'm always cautious about trying new products. However, this didn't cause any blemishes at all! Effectiveness: It noticeably excels at controlling oil. While the product claims to have moisturizing properties, it may not be sufficient as a standalone moisturizer during this season. Additionally, if you don't have oily skin, I recommend applying it only to areas that tend to get oily (as mentioned on the product page as well). My skin type: Combination oily T-zone, with recent overall facial dryness. I applied it in this order: basic skincare -> this product -> sunscreen -> makeup. It effectively controlled oil without causing any dryness. Highly recommended for combination to oily skin types. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinNov 18, 2022
The Hwahae Testers Review Usage period: November 10th - November 18th Skin type: Combination dehydrated skin with slightly lacking moisture. No particular blemishes, but oily T-zone and U-zone. Unusually sensitive due to the changing seasons. 🥕 Oil-absorbing effect: 5/5 True to its name 'Oil Controller', it really keeps the excess sebum in check! This cream is unlike any I've tried before. It absorbs incredibly fast, leaving my skin feeling fresh and matte. Yet, it manages to keep my skin hydrated without any deep dryness. It's a cream that truly targets only the excess oil. 🥕 Primer + Longevity: 5/5 After absorption, it leaves a smooth, primer-like finish. This helps makeup adhere better and improves its longevity, almost as if I've applied powder. 🥕 Blackhead reduction + Pore minimizing: 4/5 While I don't usually struggle with acne, I've always been stressed about my skin texture and blackheads. After using this, I feel like both my blackheads and pore size have decreased. It's not a dramatic change (hence the 4 stars), but I believe this gentle approach is less irritating to the skin. No particular downsides. I think this will become a must-have item, especially for spring and summer! Remember, as with all skincare products, make sure to let it fully absorb before moving on to the next step in your routine. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinNov 18, 2022
- Skin type: Extremely oily skin with closed comedones - Application: Despite its name as an 'oil controller', it doesn't have a matte finish as expected. Instead, it feels like applying an essence or emulsion - very smooth and easy to spread over a large area with just a small amount. - Absorption: While it feels moisturizing upon application, it absorbs quickly leaving the skin feeling fresh. - Hydration: Rather than using it alone, I found it works best when applied in small amounts over my usual moisturizer. This maintained hydration without any deep dryness, while still providing a fresh finish. - The bottle's opening is designed for easy and precise product dispensing, which is great. - When used alone as a substitute for moisturizer, it can be drying, living up to its 'oil controller' name. I recommend using it in conjunction with a moisturizer. - Due to its fresh finish, using too much product may cause pilling when applying makeup. Careful control of the amount used is essential. - For best results, apply a small amount to oily areas as the final step of your usual skincare routine. This will help achieve that coveted 'matte outside, hydrated inside' skin finish. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinNov 18, 2022
The texture is similar to a primer. It feels sticky at first but absorbs quickly, leaving a smooth sensation on the skin. When applied along the skin's texture, it has a primer-like effect of evening things out. However, I noticed it made my dry areas feel a bit more parched. It claims to have pore-minimizing effects, but I couldn't really tell if my pores were reduced. Those with super sensitive skin might experience a slight tingling sensation. When applied to the T-zone before makeup, it seems to control oil slightly, but I feel like it might be accentuating fine lines, which makes me hesitant to use it. I think I'd use it more if it felt like a primer that hydrates from deep within the skin! Rather than applying it all over, it might work best if focused on oily areas like the T-zone and nasolabial folds. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinNov 18, 2022
As someone with combination dehydrated skin and an oily T-zone, I think this would have been perfect for summer! After applying, I definitely noticed less shine in the afternoon. The texture is smooth and absorbs well without feeling sticky, so even those with oily skin can use it without worry. While I prefer fragrance-free products, the scent isn't overpowering, so unless you're extremely sensitive to fragrances, it shouldn't be an issue. I plan to use it mainly on my T-zone except during summer, when I'll apply it all over. It seems like it would prevent makeup from breaking down too. I checked the price on Hwahae and it seems a bit expensive for the amount you get. Also, the name 'Dog Fat Controller' sounds a bit tacky, doesn't it? I wish the packaging allowed it to stand upright - that would have been more convenient. Lastly, it would have been even better if it were fragrance-free!
