As someone with combination dehydrated skin prone to redness and blemishes, I've struggled to find products that offer both hydration and good coverage. However, the Black Rouge Thin Layer Velour Cushion is a game-changer! It's impressively moisturizing while providing excellent coverage. I love how the lightweight, thin formula applies smoothly and evenly. The #2 Vanilla shade brightens my complexion beautifully without looking unnatural. And can we talk about that puff? It's absolutely divine - so soft and bouncy! The unique packaging is also a real eye-catcher.
ConsThe only downside I noticed is that the longevity might not be its strongest suit. As my skin's natural oils came through, I experienced some pilling when applying water-based makeup on top.
TipFor a flawless finish, try building up the coverage in thin, gradual layers.

When applied, it brightens up my complexion and makes my skin tone look alive. I tend to have a bit of redness, but this covers it well and gives a lively appearance, which I love. - Application: It's moisturizing goodness personified! It applies as a semi-matte cushion with a hydrating feel. In this weather, my skin tends to get dry and flaky, but this applies smoothly without any patchiness, creating a glowing complexion. The finish is slightly powdery, which reduces transfer. - Coverage: While it doesn't provide full coverage, it offers medium coverage that conceals blemishes well. On good skin days, this alone could be enough for a beautiful skin look. - My skin is super sensitive and usually reacts quickly to new products, but I had no issues with this! Being a vegan product, the ingredients seem gentle, which makes me even more satisfied with it.
ConsDuring seasonal changes like now, when skin tends to get dry, it slightly emphasizes dead skin cells. However, with good skincare prep, it's still possible to achieve decent coverage. The puff is a bit flimsy. While it's soft, which is nice, it's slightly inconvenient for patting the product in firmly.
TipControl the amount you apply! Layering it thinly multiple times preserves skin texture and creates a subtle Inner Glow.

The texture feels like a moisturizing emulsion and absorbs well 2. It applies smoothly and gives a natural radiance 3. As someone sensitive to fragrances, I found it nearly unscented 4. The compact case is lightweight and easy to use. The puff's soft, moist texture enhances application 5. The packaging itself is absolutely gorgeous 6. No blemishes occurred during 10 uses
Cons1. While it feels moisturizing at first, it evaporates quickly, leaving skin rather dry 2. The makeup tends to separate over time 3. The light texture means limited coverage. This shouldn't be an issue for those without skin concerns
TipIt may not be a groundbreaking tip, but for those with dry skin, I recommend applying this after thorough skincare preparation

Unlike many products that apply heavily, this one goes on thinly while still providing decent coverage. However, those with dry skin might find it a bit drying. I recommend using it after a moisturizing base. Depending on my skin condition, I sometimes noticed it didn't sit perfectly on my skin.
ConsIt's disappointing that the product feels dry and tends to make makeup look patchy.

I love the beautiful radiance it imparts. - Lightweight: I dislike heavy products that feel thick on the skin, but the built-in puff applies this cushion with a bouncy texture that feels light and adheres well to the skin. - Beautiful layering: You can build it up in layers without any clumping. It blends beautifully, making touch-ups on-the-go easy.
Cons- Blemishes: I experienced breakouts after using this product. They stopped appearing after I discontinued use for 3 days. (Since mineral sunscreen formulas don't typically suit my skin, I'll try it again later and update my review.) - Low coverage and longevity: After using only matte foundations, this product doesn't cover redness and freckles well. What little coverage it provides initially disappears after 1-2 hours, leaving me looking like a burning tomato. Quite embarrassing when I'm out...
TipRecommended for those seeking a non-matte, lightweight cushion that gives a natural finish.

The Hwahae Testers, listen up! The absorbs is fantastic. Even with multiple layers, it goes on thinly without pilling. The built-in puff has angled edges, making it easy to apply around the nose. Overall, the cushion and puff work well together. While it might be a matter of personal preference, I found the thin and wide case convenient for carrying around.
ConsWhile it didn't cause any blemishes, I'm a bit disappointed that the ingredients aren't completely gentle. You'd expect a 'vegan' product to have more skin-friendly ingredients, but there are some potentially irritating components. As someone with dry skin, even though it's not the height of winter or an extremely dry season, I didn't find it particularly hydrating. You'll need to layer on the hydration in your skincare routine. Considering the product's performance and quantity, it feels a bit pricey.
TipSince this product offers good coverage, I, who usually prefer light makeup, applied it as thinly as possible. This technique helps prevent pilling and minimizes settling into wrinkles!

I love the matte pink finish that doesn't show fingerprints, keeping it looking clean and sleek. The puff is incredibly soft and plush. Its pointed tip is great for precisely patting around the nose and eyes. There's a subtle fragrance, but it's not overpowering or off-putting. The cushion applies evenly with a slight pink tint. It goes on moisturizing and dewy, but sets to a soft matte finish. As someone with shade 22 skin, I found that 21 looked too white and 23 too yellow, so I usually just used brightening moisturizer. However, this cushion blends seamlessly into my skin, naturally evening my complexion without looking cakey. It applies thinly and lightly, so my skin doesn't feel suffocated even after hours of wear. Apart from some minor mask transfer, the makeup stays beautiful throughout the day. I only need to gently pat those areas without full touch-ups. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product.
ConsThe puff feels a bit flimsy. You really need to be careful with the amount you use. If you don't apply a thin layer with minimal product, it can make your skin look worse, with odd creasing and severe caking. No matter how carefully you blend and pat, you can still see puff marks. Inevitable mask transfer occurs, but I found it transferred quite a bit on my nose and cheeks, which was annoying every time I took off my mask. While it gives a natural skin-like finish, the coverage is weak. If you prioritize coverage, I'd recommend a different cushion. If you have dry skin, you need to prep your skin really well to avoid patchiness and achieve a nice application. Even if it looks good initially, it can dry out and start to look flaky after a while.

It seems to have a slight pink undertone. The case quality is great, and the design is super cute. I love the teardrop-shaped puff - it's perfect for covering hard-to-reach areas like around the nose and under-eye dark circles. You can really feel that it's a moisturizing cushion when applying! The absorbs well is excellent. It goes on hydrating but seems to finish more matte. It might be a bit too matte for dry skin types, but it feels great for oily skin that wants hydration. While the coverage isn't exceptionally high, it applies naturally, making it perfect for a light, everyday look. I didn't expect much in terms of lasting power from a hydrating cushion, but it surprised me. Even with my oily skin that usually causes makeup to break down quickly, this held up well. Many cushions claim not to transfer onto masks, but this one truly doesn't - which is a huge plus!
ConsThere's a slight tendency for pilling, but it's manageable if you apply thin layers.
TipIt would be great for touch-ups throughout the day.

It's perfect for the increasingly warm weather we're having. I used to go foundation-free because cushions felt too heavy, but this product is just as light as wearing nothing at all! I think it'll become my go-to for spring and summer. I usually use shade 19, but even shade 21 looked bright and radiant. The pink and yellow base tones are well-balanced, creating a color that doesn't look unnatural on Asian complexions. Among the cushions I've tried recently, this one has great ingredients and is vegan... It's definitely my top pick. I'm 100% willing to buy it with my own money. When it's on sale, you can snag it for about $15-20, which is a great deal! I didn't know Black Rouge was so good at making cushions too. For those with normal skin, it doesn't feel dry and leaves a soft, matte finish!
ConsAs it's lightweight, the coverage isn't particularly high. It conceals basic pores and light blemishes well, but struggles with darker spots. That's why I'm deducting one star!
TipDon't apply it all at once - try layering instead! For areas that need more coverage, layering works well without pilling and provides better concealment.

The thin, smooth application and the porcelain-like finish on my skin impressed me, so I continued using it for over a week. The initial skin appearance is outstanding! It layers well with other products! Touch-ups... work like a charm The puff has an otherworldly soft, mochi-like feel - so good Rather than a sheer application, it provides medium to high coverage Despite my dry skin, I didn't feel significant dryness with this semi-matte formula (I still used powder, but once masks are no longer required, I'd like to try it without)
ConsThe longevity isn't exceptional, so it can settle into smile lines around the nose While the adherence to skin could be better, this drawback is offset by how well it takes touch-ups
