It's definitely great for oily skin, doesn't cause much darkening, and applies with a soft, velvety finish that feels just like my own skin It tends to settle into the creases around my nose a bit, and I need to touch up my makeup quite often, which is a bit of a hassle - la********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedDec 7, 2024
The color is lovely. It makes my face look brighter, and even when I layer it, it still looks beautiful. It feels slightly heavy when applied. But honestly, I can't find many drawbacks. - do******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedDec 10, 2023
Among cushions with good ingredients, this one offers excellent coverage. It has a matte finish, but doesn't crack over time. Instead, it gradually melts into the skin throughout the day. The shade is way too light... I usually use shades 19-21, but even the #2 Vanilla is extremely pale. If you prefer a more natural look, I'd recommend going for a darker shade than you normally would. - no***********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedDec 4, 2023
(I've been using this for 2-3 containers now!) • My skin becomes like a peeled egg and consistently looks great! When I use this cushion, I get so many compliments on my skin. There's no darkening, and it stays radiant over time - it's truly beautiful. I don't understand why it's not more popular! • Even with severe contact dermatitis and acne-prone skin, my skin feels really comfortable with this. • The coverage is pretty decent, but when applied alone, dark acne marks or scars may still be visible. • When I kept reapplying thickly for touch-ups, I got a couple of blemishes. • Even shade 2 Vanilla seems to be closer to shade 19 rather than 21 - it's very light. Keep in mind the colors come out much brighter than expected! • There's a slight tendency to settle into lines, and it can feel a bit matte when used alone (I have very dry skin). Make sure to apply it in thin layers! - me**********Dry SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Chemical sunscreens tend to cause blemishes for me, so that's why I liked this aspect. The cushion case design is pretty, and the case feels sturdy, giving a satisfying feeling when opening and closing. When applied, it's not overly dewy or shiny, which I appreciate. Since it contains mineral sunscreen, it seems to control oil better than foundations with chemical sunscreens. Similar to how mineral sunscreens can sometimes clump, this product also tends to clump if you don't control the amount well. - fl*******Oily SkinRecommendedMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

It goes on incredibly thin, but the finish is powdery while still making the skin look hydrated. It also has good coverage, which I really liked. Since I have oily skin, I can't use products that make my skin look too dewy as they tend to break down. On the other hand, if it's too matte, my skin cracks. This cushion, however, covers all those bases! You might need to touch up with powder after a while, but I'd recommend it for both dry and oily skin types. If I had to pick, I'd say it's perfect for those with dry skin. The finish is moisturizing yet velvety! For me, the puff felt too thin and flimsy, which made application a bit difficult. While I liked how it gave the skin a velvety finish, it was slightly disappointing. If I had to nitpick, it would be about the puff, but at this price point, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better cushion. It's great! You won't find a better value-for-money product than this. - gy*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

As someone with combination dehydrated skin prone to redness and blemishes, I've struggled to find products that offer both hydration and good coverage. However, the Black Rouge Thin Layer Velour Cushion is a game-changer! It's impressively moisturizing while providing excellent coverage. I love how the lightweight, thin formula applies smoothly and evenly. The #2 Vanilla shade brightens my complexion beautifully without looking unnatural. And can we talk about that puff? It's absolutely divine - so soft and bouncy! The unique packaging is also a real eye-catcher. The only downside I noticed is that the longevity might not be its strongest suit. As my skin's natural oils came through, I experienced some pilling when applying water-based makeup on top. For a flawless finish, try building up the coverage in thin, gradual layers. - at******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

While the cushion itself looks pretty, it's not a product known for its coverage. I'm not sure if it's the puff or the product itself, but when I applied it, it seemed to sit on top of the skin rather than blend in seamlessly. When first applied to the face, it felt a bit clumpy? It was somewhat challenging to blend out. It does cover blemishes to some extent, making it suitable for light makeup, but you'll need a concealer for anything beyond that. It seems lighter than the standard shade 21. Even though I usually use shade 21, this made my face look noticeably paler than the rest of my skin. I'd recommend using a different puff if possible. The included one is too soft or flimsy, which seems to affect how well the product adheres to the skin. - jd*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Is it a brick red color? I'm totally into it! The puff is incredibly soft and pliable - not stiff or rough at all. It's so easy to control and perfect for applying product in tricky areas like around the nose and between the brows. What I loved most is how true it is to its name - it really does apply in a thin, sheer layer. It goes on just like a regular cushion, but feels so lightweight. This makes it non-suffocating and less 'made-up' looking, ideal for everyday wear. The coverage is medium to high. For such a thin application, it covers quite well. It conceals small blemishes completely and fills in uneven texture nicely. While it can't fully hide dark scars or acne, choosing the right shade for your complexion should improve the coverage. The Vanilla shade was a bit light for me (I'm between 22-23), but it would suit 21 and lighter skin tones perfectly. The finish is semi-matte, leaving skin feeling slightly powdery. This seems to help it resist transferring onto masks too much. I didn't experience any dryness either. Despite a few drawbacks, the overall performance and skin finish are solid. Its thin application makes it a great choice for these days when we're still dealing with masks and want something that doesn't feel heavy. The biggest disappointment was how it settled into pores. When I checked my skin after work, the pore-clogging was quite noticeable. It also emphasized dead skin cells quite a bit. I really prioritize longevity in my makeup, and everything else about this cushion was great. If only the staying power had been better, this could have been my holy grail cushion. Such a shame! - dn*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMar 7, 2023Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

I appreciated that the coverage isn't too heavy. Unlike foundations or compacts that focus on high coverage, which can make skin look cakey and unnatural, this product - with its medium coverage when applied thinly - allows for a trendy, luminous, and semi-matte sophisticated skin finish that I currently prefer. The Ruby Cell puff is comfortable and helps with application. The color is great too! It seems they've made an effort to create a neutral shade that's neither too pink nor too yellow. It tends to settle into fine lines more than pores (be careful around eye and mouth areas!). Surprisingly, applying too much can make the skin look heavy, so it's important to control the amount when first applying. I'll post another review after I've used up the whole compact. I'll research more tips and tricks to share!
