I love the beautiful radiance it imparts. - Lightweight: I dislike heavy products that feel thick on the skin, but the built-in puff applies this cushion with a bouncy texture that feels light and adheres well to the skin. - Beautiful layering: You can build it up in layers without any clumping. It blends beautifully, making touch-ups on-the-go easy.
Cons- Blemishes: I experienced breakouts after using this product. They stopped appearing after I discontinued use for 3 days. (Since mineral sunscreen formulas don't typically suit my skin, I'll try it again later and update my review.) - Low coverage and longevity: After using only matte foundations, this product doesn't cover redness and freckles well. What little coverage it provides initially disappears after 1-2 hours, leaving me looking like a burning tomato. Quite embarrassing when I'm out...
TipRecommended for those seeking a non-matte, lightweight cushion that gives a natural finish.

The Hwahae Testers, listen up! The absorbs is fantastic. Even with multiple layers, it goes on thinly without pilling. The built-in puff has angled edges, making it easy to apply around the nose. Overall, the cushion and puff work well together. While it might be a matter of personal preference, I found the thin and wide case convenient for carrying around.
ConsWhile it didn't cause any blemishes, I'm a bit disappointed that the ingredients aren't completely gentle. You'd expect a 'vegan' product to have more skin-friendly ingredients, but there are some potentially irritating components. As someone with dry skin, even though it's not the height of winter or an extremely dry season, I didn't find it particularly hydrating. You'll need to layer on the hydration in your skincare routine. Considering the product's performance and quantity, it feels a bit pricey.
TipSince this product offers good coverage, I, who usually prefer light makeup, applied it as thinly as possible. This technique helps prevent pilling and minimizes settling into wrinkles!

It's especially convenient because although it's large, it's flat, making it easy to store in my bag and retrieve without looking. The mirror is also big and clear, which is great for touch-ups! Usage: I was surprised by how firm the sponge was. When you press the puff, it doesn't sink in but feels solid, so tapping it picks up just the right amount of product. I usually apply very little, so I used it very gently and found it easy to control the amount. Coverage: I prefer moderate coverage. I don't like applying it too thick artificially, but even with a thin layer, it covers small blemishes well and gives an overall smooth appearance, hiding blemishes and pores. Satisfaction may vary depending on skin condition, but I found the coverage quite good. Color: I use shade 21, and the color matches well. I really dislike yellowish tones, and this doesn't seem to have that issue. Puff: The puff material is so soft that I worried it might absorb too much product, but it applies very thinly and evenly, which I love. After using only firm and smooth puffs, trying this type was different but seemed to increase coverage, which I'm satisfied with. Longevity/Finish: It's not completely matte; it starts with a bit of a glow and gradually sets to a more matte finish. I don't usually touch up much, but even after 4-hour work shifts, it doesn't seem to need much correction, so it appears to be long-lasting (based on winter, no-mask conditions). *I didn't notice any particular scent (I really dislike strong fragrances).
Cons- Puff: While the puff itself is great, the handle seems a bit weak, which is disappointing. It would be nice if they sold the dedicated puff separately. - Mask transfer? To be honest, I rarely wear a mask at work or in daily life now, so I can't say for certain, but from the few times I've worn one on public transport, I can't claim it doesn't transfer at all (realistically, it's hard for any product to not transfer). It should be fine if you check and touch up as needed. - I'm not sure if the puff compartment is supposed to close with a click? It's hard to tell if it's properly closed.
Tip- Control the amount carefully! If applied too thickly, it can feel heavy and might separate. Use as little pressure as possible, dot a pea-sized amount all over your face, then add more where needed. - Hydrating base is essential! Although I have oily skin and like matte finishes, which is why I'm satisfied with this cushion, I noticed some dead skin cells when applying it in cold, dry weather. Make sure to prep your skin well with a moisturizer.

But when applied thinly, it blended well with my skin tone. The formula is very lightweight and semi-matte to matte, which definitely reduced transfer onto my mask. Coverage is medium. The cushion puff is very similar to my go-to Espoir Be Velvet puff! I think this puff really helps apply the product thinly and with good adherence. To me, this Black Rouge Thin Layer Cushion feels like a mix between the Neo Cushion and Espoir Be Velvet. For a wear test, I worked out at the gym for 2 hours. While there was some fading, it seemed to disappear along with any excess oil.
ConsThe fading was a bit disappointing. Be careful of potential pilling.
TipEven with my combination dehydrated skin, it felt a bit dry. Make sure to layer on a solid skincare base before using this.

I have super sensitive skin, so I rarely wear makeup (only on special occasions, and I remove it right away). I only use gentle mineral sunscreens, and I've probably bought and tossed about twenty cushions... But this one? I've been wearing it for a week, and it hasn't caused any skin irritation at all - it's amazing! I can't even remember the last time I was able to even out my complexion for this long. If they could just improve a few minor issues, this would honestly become my holy grail product... I mean it.
Cons- It doesn't feel as hydrating as it initially seems, and my skin quickly develops deep dryness. - It barely covers pores at all... For someone like me who's concerned about pores, this is a pretty significant drawback.
Tip- If you have dry skin, apply a rich essence or cream in your skincare routine. Make sure it's well-absorbed to prevent pilling before applying the cushion. This is how I avoid that feeling of deep dryness. - Since it doesn't cover pores well, using a pore-filling primer before the cushion is absolutely essential. - Apply in thin, very thin layers. This allows for beautiful buildable coverage and improves longevity.

I prefer lightweight cushions with decent coverage, and this product fits the bill perfectly. First off, I was amazed by the puff - it's incredibly soft, moist, and plush. I've tried many cushion puffs, but this one is by far the most velvety, making it a joy to use. The cushion itself is super smooth, while the sponge holding the product is slightly firmer, making it easy to control the amount you use. It seems they've really thought about user experience when designing this. The color has a pink base, giving a bright, fresh look. It's not a dewy finish, but rather matte, which means it's less likely to transfer onto your mask.
ConsIt might not provide perfect coverage for dark spots or blemishes. Being a matte type, using too much product could make your makeup look heavy. Also, compared to other cushions, the amount of product is smaller. It's only 12g, which feels a bit disappointing given the large case size.
TipSince it's a matte type, it's best to apply thin layers multiple times rather than trying to cover everything at once. Layering works better and prevents the makeup from looking too thick!

All the cushions I've used before had similar black and gold combinations, but seeing this matte pink case instantly lifted my mood! The puff was incredibly soft and squishy. It's the gentlest cushion puff I've ever used, causing absolutely zero irritation when touching the skin. I had some preconceptions about vegan cosmetics - that while the ingredients might be good, the performance might be lacking. However, the Black Rouge Scene Layer Velour Cushion completely shattered those preconceptions. Both the coverage and complexion correction exceeded my expectations. Usually, when I use shade 21, it makes my face look a bit darker than my natural skin tone, so I tend to use shades 15 or 17. But with this cushion, even shade 21 didn't darken my skin. Instead, it gave a slight brightening effect, making my skin look radiant. While I don't have much texture on my skin, I do have dark circles under my eyes and slightly darker skin around my mouth. This cushion evened out my skin tone overall, giving my face a lovely glow. The staying power was quite good too. I haven't had the chance to test how it holds up under a mask lately, but after wearing it for about 5 hours without touch-ups, it maintained well without significant fading.
ConsAs others have mentioned before... controlling the amount of product was a bit tricky! Especially when using it for the first time, you need to be careful and apply it cautiously. Also, while it worked well for me with my 15-17 skin tone, those who usually use standard shade 21 cushions might find this a bit light for their complexion.

The matte case looks luxurious and doesn't show fingerprints, keeping it clean. It feels surprisingly sturdy and solid. 2. The puff is incredibly soft, fluffy, and squishy - exactly the type I prefer. 3. I was worried shade 2 might be too dark for my light skin, but it's actually a bit brighter than other cushions in shade 21. It naturally evens skin tone, which I love. Those with very fair skin wanting an even brighter look could try shade 1. 4. It's amazingly lightweight with excellent adherence. It doesn't feel heavy or suffocating - in fact, it's so thin you might wonder if you're actually applying anything! After application, your skin feels incredibly comfortable and light, as if you're wearing nothing at all. 5. I was concerned about how this vegan cushion would sit on my skin, as they often don't work well for me. However, it doesn't separate at all and provides medium coverage, which is impressive for a vegan product. 6. Despite having dry skin, I didn't experience any dryness. While it's not a matte product, it's not drying either. Interestingly, it adheres like a matte formula but still gives a subtle glow. Overall: A non-drying cushion that applies incredibly thinly with great adherence and a subtle glow. The shade isn't too yellow or pink, making it suitable for all complexions. Personally, I plan to buy shade 1 for an even brighter look.
ConsWhile the puff is soft and nice, it's made of a material that attracts a lot of dust. The black upper surface makes the dust very noticeable, unfortunately. If you apply too much at once, it can feel a bit cakey, so you need to control the amount carefully.
TipControlling the amount allows for an even thinner application. Instead of applying all over at once, try spreading it on one area at a time for an incredibly light, barely-there finish.

The sponge holding the foundation is firmer compared to other cushions, which makes it easier to control the amount. I really liked this aspect. The adherence to the skin also felt very good. Puff: Excellent The cushion puff is exceptionally well-made. It applies the product smoothly and evenly, enhancing adherence. This seems to significantly reduce transfer onto masks. I tried applying with my old cushion puff, and I could definitely feel the difference in application and adherence when using the Black Rouge puff! Color: Excellent I used the Vanilla 02 shade, and I loved that it had a nice ivory tone without too much pink. As someone who dislikes foundations with a pink undertone, I found this color perfect for those with redness in their complexion. Case: Excellent First of all, the case is beautiful. It has a sophisticated design that looks slightly luxurious. The mirror is larger than in other products, making the cushion case a bit bigger, but I really like how well you can see yourself in it.
ConsLongevity: Subpar When used alone, the longevity is a bit disappointing. At first, I thought it gave a great skin finish, but as time passed, it seemed to fade quite a bit. Personally, I use cushions mainly for touch-ups, so it wasn't a major issue for me. Dryness: Slight issue It feels a bit drying. I experienced some flaking around my nose. I think it's important to have a solid moisturizing base, especially in winter. For reference, I have combination skin.
TipFor those with dry skin, I recommend using an oil-based product as a base. Then, if you use the Black Rouge cushion for your complexion, you should be able to achieve that perfect dewy skin look.

I usually don't prefer moisturizing cushions because they often feel too heavy on my skin. However, this one applies in a nice thin layer while still being hydrating - I love it! It doesn't feel suffocating on the skin at all. 2. The cushion puff The puff is soft and adheres well to the skin, which I really like. 3. It pairs well with moisturizing sunscreen! I always apply it this way before work, and it beautifully evens out my skin tone while keeping my skin comfortable.
ConsI haven't experienced any blemishes and I'm still using it with satisfaction. If I notice any areas for improvement after using it more, I'll update my review.
TipMy skin isn't particularly dry, but it tends to get dehydrated under the heater. When I apply a very hydrating moisturizing sunscreen before this, it gives me a lovely complexion and my skin feels so comfortable.
