Dry skin / Winter cool tone / Shade 22 complexion Review of Hince Matte Cushion in shade 21 💕 Longevity: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Color: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Coverage: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Being matte, it has great longevity and coverage!! Even in summer when you're sweating buckets, you won't need to touch up. That's how good it is! Everything was fine, but for my skin type, there was a bit of darkening! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinApr 28, 2025
The skin finish is truly as smooth as a peeled egg... beautifully... porcelain-like. It effectively minimizes pores and provides decent coverage, which I really appreciate. If you're not careful, it can go on too thick. Darkening might occur... unless you've got a solid skincare base... haha... Make sure to pack in the hydration before applying, and you'll see much less darkening! - Hwahae UserOily SkinApr 12, 2025
As someone with oily skin, I'm quite particular about my base makeup choices. The Hince Second Skin Mesh Matte Cushion really impressed me with how thinly it applies. It feels like it melds with my skin without any thickness, avoiding that suffocating sensation. I love how it creates a natural look, as if it's just evening out my complexion. I didn't find the coverage to be too heavy, which I actually prefer. Rather than completely masking blemishes or redness, it seems to enhance the natural texture of the skin. This makes it perfect for those who enjoy a more natural, 'no-makeup' makeup look. It's easy to apply evenly without clumping or spreading unevenly, and it holds up well over time without breaking down. What's particularly impressive is that even on my oily skin, it doesn't lift or gather in oily patches. It's become my go-to for everyday wear. I did notice a very slight darkening effect, so those who prefer a lighter tone might want to keep that in mind. Also, the case feels a bit cheap, which is a bit disappointing. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinMar 18, 2025
I have combination dehydrated skin that tends to get dry in fall and winter. I thought it would be fine since it's described as semi-matte, but it's actually quite drying for me. The photo was taken 3 hours after applying makeup. I'll probably use this as a summer foundation instead. While many cushions these days tend to be lightweight, this one seems best suited for those with already good skin. It covers redness well, but doesn't do a great job concealing large pores or uneven texture. It might work well for touch-ups throughout the day. I use shade 22-23, which gives a natural, brightening effect. There's a bit of darkening... It's not severe, but it's slightly noticeable and bothersome. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 10, 2025
Skin type: Combination, prone to redness As I have a darker complexion, the shade matched well. Since I don't have severe blemishes, I was satisfied with the coverage. The lid and cushion separate too often, which is inconvenient. It also oxidizes quite noticeably. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinJan 18, 2025
The sponge-free matte mesh design really makes a difference - I felt like I got a generous amount of product. The built-in puff is high quality, and the coverage is excellent. The shade is quite disappointing. It has a strong yellow undertone and even a slightly ashy cast. The darkening effect is really severe - when I apply it in the morning and look in the mirror at night, it seems even darker than my bare skin. The staying power is low, so touch-ups are a must. Despite being a matte cushion, it gets very oily after just 3 hours. My friend even asked if I was wearing a glowy foundation! The SPF is lower compared to other cushions, and the compact itself is a bit large. Also, the refill keeps separating from the cushion case. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 17, 2025
When I first applied it to my skin, I loved the moisturizing feel, and it seemed to adhere perfectly to my skin. The coverage is medium to high, but the shades tend to run a bit dark, so I'd recommend choosing one shade lighter than you normally would. It oxidizes quickly, and when oil starts to come through, it breaks down in a somewhat messy way. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 8, 2025
It's suitable for combination dehydrated skin in summer. For those with shade 20 skin, shade 21 might look a bit dull. If your skin texture isn't smooth, it tends to separate. The color also leans slightly grayish. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinDec 30, 2024
✅ The color might be divisive, but for a Yellowbase enthusiast like me, it's absolutely gorgeous... My skin tends to have uneven redness, but this yellowish tone covers it beautifully while looking natural. I love it. The color is subdued and slightly darker than other cushions, which is perfect. I highly recommend this to those who prefer a calm Yellowbase and have a tricky skin tone between 21-22, where typical 21 cushions are too light and 23 too dark. I absolutely adored it. ✅ It does an excellent job covering blackheads and pores on my nose and T-zone, including some large pores. While it may not completely conceal the largest pores, it covers them well enough to meet my standards. ✅ Being a mesh cushion, it dispenses quite a bit of product onto the puff, so controlling the amount is crucial. For the initial application, adjust the quantity on the lid and apply it in downward strokes for a beautifully thin layer. At this stage, the coverage is light, but you can build it up by repeating the process - adjusting the amount and gently patting it on. I find that going beyond this makes it feel thick and heavy, so I usually stop after the second layer. ❌ It tends to emphasize dead skin cells, so for satisfactory use, proper exfoliation is necessary. ❌ The puff picks up a lot of product at once, so adjusting the amount on the lid is essential. ❌ There is some darkening, but it wasn't significant enough to bother me personally. For the initial application, rather than patting it on after adjusting the amount, applying it in downward strokes results in a thinner and more beautiful finish. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinDec 1, 2024
It's incredibly hydrating. It creates a beautiful skin finish and the coverage isn't bad either. The mesh net allows for some control over the amount dispensed, and it applies evenly on the puff. It seems like a great starter cushion for beginners. The glow it gives is truly stunning! The transfer, longevity, smudging, and darkening were really problematic. When it starts to break down, it doesn't even do so gracefully. I think this might be best for beginners to figure out what type of product suits them.
