✅ The color might be divisive, but for a Yellowbase enthusiast like me, it's absolutely gorgeous... My skin tends to have uneven redness, but this yellowish tone covers it beautifully while looking natural. I love it. The color is subdued and slightly darker than other cushions, which is perfect. I highly recommend this to those who prefer a calm Yellowbase and have a tricky skin tone between 21-22, where typical 21 cushions are too light and 23 too dark. I absolutely adored it. ✅ It does an excellent job covering blackheads and pores on my nose and T-zone, including some large pores. While it may not completely conceal the largest pores, it covers them well enough to meet my standards. ✅ Being a mesh cushion, it dispenses quite a bit of product onto the puff, so controlling the amount is crucial. For the initial application, adjust the quantity on the lid and apply it in downward strokes for a beautifully thin layer. At this stage, the coverage is light, but you can build it up by repeating the process - adjusting the amount and gently patting it on. I find that going beyond this makes it feel thick and heavy, so I usually stop after the second layer. ❌ It tends to emphasize dead skin cells, so for satisfactory use, proper exfoliation is necessary. ❌ The puff picks up a lot of product at once, so adjusting the amount on the lid is essential. ❌ There is some darkening, but it wasn't significant enough to bother me personally. For the initial application, rather than patting it on after adjusting the amount, applying it in downward strokes results in a thinner and more beautiful finish. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 23, 2024
Beautiful color and packaging. Highly recommended for those with truly oily skin. It really lives up to its name. Genuinely matte finish. As someone with combination skin, it clings unattractively around the nose and somehow seems to make my skin look less than its best. No matter how much skincare and exfoliation I do beforehand, it severely emphasizes dead skin cells and causes extreme dryness. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinOct 20, 2024
I love the great coverage and that it doesn't darken over time. It's also easy to apply. After a while, it tends to settle into the creases around my nose and the makeup starts to separate, especially highlighting dead skin cells. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 6, 2024
The color selection is really beautiful! I have 21 shade skin but bought 17, and I recommend purchasing one shade lighter than your usual. I didn't experience any darkening! Maybe because I went a shade lighter, I didn't notice any dullness either. The puff isn't great... I'd recommend using a different puff instead. Perhaps because it's matte, those with extremely dry skin might notice some dead skin cells becoming more visible. If you have dry skin, make sure to moisturize well before applying! They say it covers pores well, but I'm not so sure about that... I have rather large pores, and it's far from perfect coverage. Use a different puff, seriously. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinMay 18, 2024
It leaves your skin feeling soft and velvety, and most importantly, it gives you that flawless, porcelain-like complexion! If applied incorrectly, it can accentuate dead skin cells, and since it's a mesh cushion, controlling the amount can be a bit tricky. Check out YouTube tutorials on how to apply mesh cushions properly, and you'll definitely see the difference! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 19, 2024
This is the cushion I've been most satisfied with among all those I've bought from Olive Young. It applies evenly and beautifully, even as it wears throughout the day. You don't need any special skills to apply it. Despite my combination dehydrated skin, it doesn't make me look greasy, nor does it dry me out. If you don't exfoliate, it might emphasize dead skin cells a bit... But other than that, I can't think of any drawbacks? For best application, put some product on the puff, then lightly tap it on the lid to control the amount before applying. It spreads evenly this way! Before use, press the puff firmly on a tissue to remove any residue. This helps maintain good makeup condition. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 10, 2024
The coverage for acne scars was pretty decent, and the color was beautiful. As for pore coverage, it was absolutely flawless! There's hardly anything to complain about, but occasionally it did emphasize dead skin cells a bit. - Hwahae UserDry SkinFeb 3, 2024
The case and puff are pretty and nice! I think it would be great for those with oily skin, especially during fall and winter when my skin gets dry! I experienced darkening right after applying my makeup! While the coverage is good, my dry skin seemed to emphasize dead skin cells and caused deep dryness. It seems suitable for combination dehydrated skin or oily skin types, but I wouldn't recommend it for super sensitive skin. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 26, 2024
The case is absolutely gorgeous! I prefer cushions over liquid foundations, so I've tried various brands. I had never used the Hince cushion before, so I was excited to test it out. It has a semi-matte finish with no greasiness or transfer. Most importantly, it feels incredibly lightweight. Unlike other semi-matte formulas that can feel heavy or break down over time, the Hince cushion remains thin and light, never feeling suffocating. It adheres well to the skin, maintaining a flawless complexion throughout the day. The coverage is medium to high, effectively evening out skin tone and concealing blemishes in one application. The mesh net dispenser is key for controlling the amount - unlike regular sponge cushions, you shouldn't press hard. A light touch is enough to pick up sufficient product on the puff. I usually use shade 23, so I was worried 21 might be too light, but its yellow base makes it less bright than other 21 shades, giving a radiant finish that's just right. If your skincare base isn't solid, it may emphasize dead skin cells. Due to dry winter skin, it worked well when I applied heavy moisturizer underneath. However, with a lighter base, it accentuated flakiness around my cheeks. This formula might be more suitable for summer than the current season. Product amount control is crucial! Don't press hard on the mesh net - a gentle touch is enough. A small amount provides ample coverage. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 26, 2024
I was worried about the mesh, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well I could control the amount. Also, the coverage isn't too heavy, allowing for a natural skin look, which is great for daily use. There's a bit of darkening, and it really doesn't cover acne scars well. However, it does even out the complexion. (((Personal opinion, review from extreme skin types))) For my dry skin with just a touch of oil in the T-zone, I felt my face dried out faster compared to other cushions. As it dried, my skin looked flaky, dead skin cells became more noticeable, and it didn't smooth out fine lines well. It felt like the foundation was drying on my face. Conversely, when I gave it to my sister with very oily skin to try, she said it mixed with her oils, became patchy, and settled into wrinkles. However, touch-ups seemed easier for her than for dry skin. I think the Hince cushion is weak in winter. It might shine when the weather improves! I loved the Hince Glow last fall and was planning to stick with it. But when I used it in winter, it was disappointing. I think the matte version will also show its true potential when the weather warms up. My skin is very seasonal, so that might be why I felt this way. Right now, my skin is so dry that even three layers of cream don't help, so I can't recommend it for dry skin... Others say it's quite moisturizing for a matte cushion, so it might work well for dry skin that's manageable with a good skincare routine. For oily skin, I think it's not really necessary? It could be a good cushion for combination skin. If you're really curious about this cushion, I recommend trying it in spring after winter has passed.
